Of course the studio is clean, relaxing and beautiful - that's a given in today's beauty industry and what we've come to expect and demand - but the team is so professional, knowledgeable and beyond skilled, and that's the difference. In addition to having a talented and educated staff, Skin by EC offers a wide range of treatment options that have completely changed my body and skin. (All I can say is ask about the venus legacy for cellulite reduction. It has changed my life and I've gone from not wanting to wear shorts to loving my legs again - thank you!!!) With that said, I would like to acknowledge Maggie. She has completely transformed my skin and body and I am so grateful I found her. Her love for what she does radiates through her work and her positive energy makes you feel comfortable and at ease. I hate to do this because I see so many positive reviews and my experience was okay, but I'll provide you with the why. My ultra pet peeve when you go to get any beauty service is when they spend the time trying to upsell you on every single product service etc. it's not relaxing, it's not a good look, and ultimately ruins your experience. I came for derma-planing and facial. During the facial she kept trying to upsell me on everything under the sun. I caved in on the microdermabrasion. When I went to check out the mask which is normally included, some 1 min oxygen she literally sprayed on my face probably less than 1 min, the dermaplan, the facial the oil etc line item after line item ended up being $400! She said the additional charge was 35.00 but racked up$ 400+ Then I decided to get my lashes. I was very clear I do classic natural looking not long or heavy volume lash. She removed my strangler lashes that hadn't naturally fallen off and I swear I almost went blind with the soliton. For 20 min I couldn't open my eyes.. after that I stayed and did my lashes to open my eyes two hours later to daddy long leg spider lashes!!! I almost died! She said she could fix it, I sat there another 45 min to have zero changes. Today, I have to get them removed. All in all if you don't mind being upsold too then come. I have been waxing my eyebrows for years and unfortunately I had a horrible experience at EC. My esthetician did not ask me about medications until she was done waxing me and noticed how red my skin was. I was not aware that waxing while on acne medication was going to damage my skin. I have chemical burns on my face and am in a lot of pain. I am so sad to have to attend a wedding this weekend looking like this. I will not be back to EC again. read more

In high school I had really bad skin, think pizza face. While my skin has gotten a little clearer, I still have super oily skin, think bp oil spill. Very large pores, and the occasional break out, which I feel like I'm getting kind of old for. I mean, we're supposed to outgrow those once we leave our teens, right? This is long. I didn't necessarily want to write this review but I felt misled after reading all the positive reviews here and should probably share my terrible experience. I explained that my main concern are my blackheads on my nose. My facialist immediately started to upsell additional treatments but I just wanted a regular facial without all the extra cost. I've had a lot of great facials in the past without any additional add-ons - I just needed extractions on my nose. The entire time my facialist was talking about how microwaves cause cancer, how the ingredient Dimethicone is a terrible ingredient yet she tried selling me a sunscreen that used it as one of the top ingredients and a lot of other information she read online. That didn't bother me as much as her not paying close attention to my face it seemed. She suggested I do the papaya enyzme mask add-on and when I told her no, she said "oh okay hm how am I going to do this" etc. If that mask is so necessary to do the facial, why isn't it included  w an increased price?? The steaming beforehand did not feel nearly as long enough and because of that, I don't think my pores were open enough. She kept talking mostly of things I already knew, to the point where she would pause midway working on my face, to talk.  When she let me interjected she commented that I knew a lot about skincare. Unfortunately, she spent such a short time actually on my skin, I don't know why I was so surprised when I saw so many blackheads left. My skin felt VERY  dry and tight afterwards and my pores look even bigger.  I called the place as I was walking home because I felt awful for wasting $125 (+ tip) and over an hour of my time. Luckily I was able to speak to Erika the owner.  Erika said that i might have such dehydrated skin and deep pores, that it takes more than one session, and she said she can't say much since she hasn't seen my skin personally. No, I don't think that's it since I've had a lot of great facials before with my skin being a lot worse. BUT let's say that's the case: then why didn't my facialist tell me that she couldn't extract everything so I may need another session???  I told Erika I had pictures right before the facial and afterwards . She said that I can text it to her and she would be happy to reschedule the appointment. I never heard from her after hours of waiting. I am fed up. I'm so disappointed. read more

I have been going to EC beauty studio for over 5 years now. I even continue to return every month even though I have since moved out of the area. Erica works wonders on your skin. She spends time to analyze your skin, listen to your concerns, and chooses the best treatment to address the imperfections. Erica has lightened my sun spots, reduced redness, knocked out post-natal hormonal breakouts, and greatly improved my complexion overall. I always leave the studio with glowing skin. She also makes great recommendations for products but is never pushy. Plus we always have great conversation! I will never let anyone else touch my skin. Christine does a fabulous job on my lashes. I always get complements on them after she works her magic. I have pretty straight lashes and she can get them to curl perfectly and it lasts 8 weeks for me. I barely have to wear mascara. Subpar mediocre service. This was the most awkward back facial I've ever had. It felt like a 16 year old was just slamming products into my back. There was no headband for the facial and my long hair kept coming out towards my back, I felt wires on my head, constant moving of the bed and things dropping on the floor. The most awkward was the constant 2-3 minute waits between each step of the facial. I was told that there will be two masks but it was just a spot treatment, and a smack of some product with a cold towel for two minutes. I had much higher expectations for this place. read more

She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about what she does and I learned a lot about my skin. I've had a lot facials but this was definitely on another level of expertise. I go to Christine 2-3 times a month for lash extensions and all i have to say is WOW. i get compliments all the time! I've been going to EC beauty studio for about a year now but saw Michele tonight as the previous woman I was seeing has since left and HOLY AMAZING. The studio is so insanely clean and taking amazing covid precautions. They have air purifiers in each room, the staff wears masks AND shields and you can just tell they take it very seriously which I appreciate. This review is long overdue! As I'm nearing my mid-thirties my skin is starting to show fine lines, sun spots, loss of elasticity and its once smooth complexion. After one session with Daniela, my esthetician, I was hooked. I first met Daniela at another Spa but have followed her to EC Beauty. Daniela has the ability to make you look a few years younger just with one session sans any needless or injections. I have been working long hours lately, under significant stress and my skin shows it. My skin was mostly dry, yet I was getting oily patches which caused breakouts. I received the ultimate renewal facial treatment today. The products felt cool, a bit tingly at times, and smelled fantastic. My skin immediately feels more hydrated, my face is lifted and my fine lines are less visible. I also appreciate that Daniela will ensure your full time is utilized. Erica and her team at EC Beauty Studio are the best! I started seeing Erica for facials over a year ago based on the recommendation of my wedding planner. I've always struggled with dull, congested skin and wanted to get a bridal glow for my upcoming wedding. Erica was knowledgeable, friendly, and genuine. She recommended some PCA products to start using at home and would custom adjust my facial every month depending on what issues needed to be addressed with my skin. It didn't take long to start seeing results! It felt amazing when I started to receive compliments from friends, family, coworkers and even strangers on my complexion. Erica had a whole plan laid out so that I was especially ready for all the major milestones related to the wedding (bridal shower, bachelorette, and of course the wedding weekend). Erica is extremely attentive to my skin and takes the time to talk to me about what she's seeing and what the plan to address it will be. At one point I started breaking out around my lips, and when I showed Erica, she asked if I changed my toothpaste lately which I had! She said I was probably allergic to the foaming agent in the new toothpaste, and as soon as I switched back to my old brand, the breakouts stopped! It's so helpful to have an expert you can consult with, and Erica always tell me to call or stop in if something with my skin is concerning me between our monthly visits. I've also used EC Beauty Studio for the accelerated spray tans, which are amazing! I love that it's a quick formula and I can shower with a couple hours depending on how deep I want the tan. I received lots of compliments on my color and how natural it looked. Also, on both my bachelorette and honeymoon where I was swimming a lot, the color stayed for much longer than I expected it to. I've been continuing with my monthly facials and PCA products from EC Beauty Studio since the wedding and can't imagine not making my skincare a priority going forward. I always look forward to my visits and product recommendations from Erica. I think part of what I have enjoyed the most about investing in my skin with EC Beauty is that I've never once felt pressured into a service or product, unlike other spas in Hoboken. I'm so happy I started this routine and my advice to my friends and others is not to wait until a wedding or big life event to take care of your skin. Pretty disappointed with my appointment for eyebrow shaping at EC. I was super excited to find a place with good reviews in Hoboken. The atmosphere is great and Michelle was very nice. After calling once, I was under the impression that eyebrow shaping was a basic wax with consultation ($15) and "reshaping" was for a more extensive service. So I later made an appointment for eyebrow shaping. The process was painless and super professional, and my eyebrows seemed perfect in the mirror there. When I was rung up the total came to $45 and Michelle explained that this was for eyebrow shaping, while waxing was $15. Their website posts waxing as $15 and reshaping as $30. Overall I was confused by what I was told on the phone in my first call, and now I'm confused as to why the price I was charged was still different than that posted on their website. When I got home and looked in the mirror in different lighting, I noticed that the bottom base of my brows were notably different, it seemed like one was tinted, thicker, and not in a straight line and the other was the normal straight line I'm used to. And overall, I did not see the sharp lines I like when getting my brows done. I think the detail and symmetry could have used much more attention. I will probably not return. read more

I made a same day appointment with Michele for a "you" facial. She met me at the door and was great to work with. She analyzed my skin and selected products to use on me that were appropriate for my skin type. She also made some great recommendations to try and keep my skin looking good afterwards. I definitely would like to make my appointments with Michele a regular occurrence. The spa is somewhat difficult to find but worth it in the end. It is in the Sky Club building/parking garage on the 7th floor. No car? No problem! This location is also right next to the light rail stop. Check out their website and give them a try.
