Big fan of this teensy lash studio in Hoboken! I've been to this spot a couple times and have been happy with my experiences there. I got a classic set one Saturday and came back two weeks later for a refill. Both times, it was easy to make an appt. The owner also personally texts, so if there is capacity earlier, he'll let you know. The studio is small but so cutely decorated. It's very cozy and has a relaxing vibe! Both times, the technicians I got were very efficient. Also, they're good about drying your lashes for a little longer with the portable fan (& letting you sit in the waiting area with the portable fan) so the glue doesn't sting. The lash extensions look great and they stay on. I'm pretty aggressive about putting mascara on my extensions and then rubbing makeup remover on them, too. (Don't be like me!) Hmmmmmm.... Soooo, lashes look ok. However, I went on with my day running errands with a weird glare over my eyes but did not know why. The owner showed me 3 different type of lashes and stated that they were all mink. She recommended the darker one's for my eye so it can be more noticeable. I asked her if the lash was mink, she stated that they were all mink. These lashes are so synthetic and plastic that I see a shiny glare when I look up, and you can clearly see it from the side. Here's my thing, do not lie to me when I would have paid extra; if you even have mink, with no problem. DO NOT LIE TO THE CUSTOMER. I've been doing lashes for a very long time and know the difference. Mink lashes feel exactly like your natural lashes, these are brittle and shiny. I wanted to update my review that after receiving a few sets, I ran into the same issue of pain on my lash line and lashes twisting and falling out a few days after my refills. When I took a break, I realized that I had lost a significant amount of natural lashes so I stopped getting extensions. While I believe my negative experience is in part due to the fact that I have light lashes to begin with, I also strongly believe it was mostly due to the quality of the lashes and the laze of removing problem lashes during fills. I normally go to the city to get my lashes done at Eyelovelash but they changed their material of lashes and their Mink felt too thick, and heavy. I discovered this place in Hoboken and wanted to give it a try. I opted for the 90 peices, natural, 11 curl, flat lashes for a more soft and natural feel and look. I also didn't want thick and heavy lashes as I wear contacts and am prone to eye infections easily. The entire process was great and the technician was so gentle. After getting them done and having a few weeks pass by, they felt so natural and light that I forgot I had them on. A month passed by and I noticed my lashes were still in tact. After a month and a week later I've noticed they started to fall off, which is natural given how long ago I had them done. Overall, my experience was great and the material was just as expected for the price I paid. I debated between W Lash Studio and two other places and decided to try W. Management was extremely accommodating with my initial appointment which is a huge bonus for me as I only visit Hoboken on weekends. I arrived slightly early and was greeted by the manager. She was very polite, but very quiet--when I first entered I didn't realize the extensions were being applied behind the half wall behind the counter so initially I thought it was rather odd and had a very hard time hearing her. She goes over pictures of different styles and different types of extensions for you to choose from, but she also had no problem telling you what she thought was best. I appreciated her insight, but being that I had extensions before I knew I wanted a fuller look than the "classic" she suggested. The first application went smoothly and I absolutely loved my lashes! They survived a week in Mexico and two more after that! I was extremely happy with them as my previous set from a different salon only lasted about 1 week. I was so pleased I went back for a fill at the 3-week mark. They have a price chart, but I didn't realize the fills were differently priced depending on the type of lash you chose. It was slightly higher than I anticipated ($110 @ 3 weeks with flat mink) based off of looking at other salons (and my friend also gets lash extensions in NJ where it's considerably less expensive and she gets the fullest style). At the time I decided it was worth it especially if they last 3-weeks and still looked perfect. However, I think I had a different technician do my fill than I had apply the original set. I'm assuming this based off of the huge difference in my lashes. After my fill one eye's extensions were tangled every which way and wouldn't straighten out no matter how I brushed them. Also, it looked like one eye had a lot more lashes than the other. At about 1.5 weeks my one eye looked wild. My lashes on one eye are fine, but the other one they're still going every whichway and some extensions look as though they've been pushed halfway down my real lashes making them stick out past the rest. I'm mostly upset with the fact that the extensions have been falling out taking my real lashes with them. In all honesty, I'm not sure I'd recommend W Lash Studio and I'm not sure I'll return. No one ever mentioned proper after care i.e. washing your lashes (which I knew to do because of my friend), but for a first time person this is very important to know about. Also, I am looking for a studio I can continue going to for a long time which requires consistency. I want a place I can feel confident I'll be happy with my lashes after each visit. Due to the fact that the studio seems to give you whichever tech is available, I'm not so sure I can expect consistent quality with my lash extensions. Edit: the manager, Claire, reached out to me. I just remembered to write this review because I am about to book another appointment with them. I had my lashes done on January 22nd at 6:30pm. Right now it is the afternoon of March 8, 2018. Guys, my lashes are still looking pretty dang great! Seriously. I will post pictures. Yes, it's been over a month--I've swam in pools, exercised, sweated, rub my eyes, slept on my face, etc--so naturally lashes came off, but there are still enough left that my eyes still pop. Not quite as dramatic and beautiful as when I first did them, but I've never had lashes last so long! And when they do come off, it's so natural, one lash at a time. Unlike the clumpy hot mess of another place I went to in Jersey City Heights. (Was that petty? Perhaps, but now that I understand the quality I should be looking for that previous experience was so frustrating.) Back to the good stuff! You go down a few steps and you enter into a well-lit, cozy studio. The ladies were gracious, gentle, and did an amazing job. First time visitors will get a discount if you pay cash, so definitely take advantage of that. Also, don't wear a ponytail and then lie down--I did that without thinking and since I barely moved my head for like 2 hours it hurt so much afterwards. That's my own fault though. They do a great job. I have friends that I see everyday who wouldn't have known my lashes weren't mine. My first set came out pretty quickly but I think it was because of the makeup cleaner I used prior. However, they were willing to fix it for me within the first two days. Came here for a last minute lash appointment. I had the last appointment for the night and although I was still running about 10 minutes late, they still accommodated me. I didn't feel rushed and they took the time to to show me all the lash styles and told me what they thought would compliment my eyes best. It was my first time here today and I was pretty pleased. Setting up an appointment was easy as I just called a few days before. They even check in with you the evening before to ensure that you are still going to make your appointment. I was the only guest in the studio during my appointment so the vibe was very relaxing. The place looks really pretty and clean. My lash specialist took the time to view a few looks with me until I ultimately decided to go with Real Mink, Classic in the gorgeous style. I believe her name was Claire and she also stated she was the manager. There is a little gap (see photos) in which it looks like I'm missing a few lashes and I'm not sure if it's supposed to look that way at that angle as this is my first time with lashes. However when looking in the mirror I don't really notice it. I am going to give them another try with a refill in the upcoming weeks and will update if necessary. My go to place is in the city but sometimes I just don't have time to go there so I'm glad I found W Lash Studio! A walking distance from my place. They were thorough in their explain with the types of lashes they provided and the studio was kept clean. The process did not hurt although it did burn a bit, probably from the type of glue they use.
