I found Cherry on Yelp and messaged her just a few days ahead of the Tuesday night event. She responded with her quote and the relevant details, and after mulling over whether or not to spend the money, I secured the appointment with a deposit the night before. She only had a 1:00 slot available, but she was able to come to me, meeting me in my hotel room. She arrived right on time with an arsenal of beauty supplies. I liked her immediately. She was so friendly and energetic, and said flattering things about my skin, obviously music to my 39-year-old ears. I had a great time hanging out with her. She asked what I was looking for and I said I was walking a red carpet and just wanted to look good. She took me through her overall plan and started with my eye makeup, layering on colors and checking in to see if I was okay with the level of drama. I didn't know enough to weigh in and let her do her thing, and less than an hour later, I was fully dolled up. She even put fake eyelashes on top of my already fake eyelashes. To be honest, I was a little worried at first. I looked very dramatic for two in the afternoon, and I wondered if I'd let her go overboard. Once I was dressed and at the premiere, though, I felt fairly confident and comfortable and got lots of compliments. I walked the carpet, the second time I've done that in my life, and stood and posed awkwardly for a million photos. I've seen the pictures from both events and am really glad I got my makeup done this time around. The bolder makeup just worked better with those bright lights. I'm not professionally pretty (I'm a writer, which is, if anything, an ugly person's job) so it was fun to get my face painted and hang out with the attractive people who go to television premieres. The salon staff are efficient and so pleasant making the overall experience a boost to your day. I had a single process (with Tam) and cut (with Chen). Both were done professionally. Tam is such a pleasant and kind coiffure. Chen does an amazing blow dry and is a very talented hairdresser. He does good haircuts too. I cannot recommend both of them enough after the pleasant experience I had, right down to the thoughtfully prepared cappuccino and biscotti for their clients. The one thing that places this salon in my favourites list is the fact that they use Kerastase products which are really so agreeable with my hair type and have been a product that I have used since my 20's at hairdressers around the world. The Kerstase shampoos and conditioners brought back such nice and happy memories ... The prices range from USD 165-200 dollars for a single process. About USD 155- 258 dollars for a cut and USD 67-150 dollars for a blow dry. The only thing I would change or ask more of at this salon would be music, music, MUSIC! It's always great to have some tunes playing in the background as you get pretty or prettier, as the case maybe. Enjoy your time at Salon SCK. It's a dream to have your hair in their good hands.

My hairdresser was wonderful. Great shampooing job and she was very precise and careful when cutting. Also good at communicating and making sure I was happy with the cut. My haircut was $65, but be warned: if you do the "haircut and blow dry" it's $130. To be honest I don't even know what that means because she dried my hair... with a blow dryer... I guess she didn't style it? But anyways, if you're just looking for a basic cut make sure to communicate that so you don't accidentally double the cost of your haircut. The interior was super clean and everyone there was very friendly. The woman working the front offered me water, tea, or coffee when I arrived and hung my coat in the back.

I really liked my length before and wanted to keep it but maybe take off an inch... really just wanted a trim and some shaping. I even showed her exactly how much I wanted off the end before she cut. I noticed there was more hair coming off than seemed normal and when she showed me my new length she had cut off more like 4 inches. The shape was also completely wrong. I was very clear about my goals but ended up with a haircut I really don't like and now have to wait months to a year for it to grow back out. Definitely depleted my confidence. Would not recommend for a cut - the blow out was good though, but didn't use heat protection
