Felt like a very 'Dubai' Dining experience with suitably large furniture, set piece decor, and plenty of space...prices were accordingly high...but ultimately well worth it.

The menu is extensive - and can be somewhat overwhelming to peruse and choose. However, the restaurant wisely offers a couple of different tasting menus of chef's selections, and my colleagues and I opted for this choice (hey, it was a long day of driving to get to LHR ... in a pelting rain to boot, what the Brits would call "bracing" weather). We started off with an amuse-bouche of an Indian tomato soup, followed by a variety of different pappadums and chutneys. To accommodate all tastes, we agreed on "medium hot" for the dishes - which at first, I thought was rather mild, but this was deceptive for the heat built up satisfactorily with each bite. For appetizers, we each received a flight of 7 different appetizers, comprising of fish, vegetables, chicken, beef, and shrimp (the waitress explained each one, but I'll admit to being at a loss to recall what they were). Some were terrific; some were merely okay. This was followed by about 5 different curries, no doubt representing different regions and styles -- comprised of lamb, chicken, prawns, and vegetable sides, accompanied by two types of basmati rice and a couple of kinds of naan. The best to me was the lamb, which had a great flavor and tenderness, but each of the curries had a nice distinct flavor profile. Finally, after stuffing ourselves insensibly, we were each rewarded with a flight of 3 desserts: a vanilla ice cream, a mini-creme brulee flavored with cardamom, and a green Indian dessert of which I can't remember the name, but it was outstanding! Coffee afterwards and I also have to say that it was a great brew (I'm guessing Malabar). The restaurant itself is quiet with a restrained decor to showcase the food, excepting the eye-catching wooden sculpture residing in the middle (literally, an elephant in the room - and no-one really talked about it ... ). There's also a Chef's table looking right into the kitchen and prep area; however, general dining room seating also has a good view of the chefs in action. Wait-service was excellent, cordial, and considerate, and very knowledgeable and helpful regarding the menu offerings. Well worth a visit if residing at any of the nearby airport hotels.

While just a glance at the menu may lead you to think that the vegetarian options are very limited, it is not the case. If you ask the friendly servers, they will be happy to make almost any dish on the menu vegetarian. They will either substitute with paneer or vegetables. The food is some of the best Indian food I've had. The korma is excellent and creamy, and the rogan is tomato-ey and a good option if you aren't into dishes that are too heavily spiced. My favourite dish is the paneer tandoor shashlik. It is flavourful, juicy because of the tomatoes and just all around delicious. I love getting a garlic naan with it and making mini wraps in my hand. There is also a meat option which I'm sure is just as good. I would also highly recommend the brinjal bhaji which is chopped and stewed aubergine. It is an example of how delicious aubergine can be. Beautifully soft and almost buttery and not at all spongey. My husband and all his friends rave about the prawn puree (which is not a purée as I feared). It has almost reached cult status in our group! The actual restaurant itself doesn't have the best atmosphere and the toilets are downright frightening, but don't let this put you off. You will usually have the run of the place. The food more than makes up for it! Whenever we eat Indian, it has to be from olives.

But, in all honesty its a fun place with friends after drinks and the service was great, very friendly staff who even run out and buy your booze from around the corner (in the local corner shop).. Went with a large group and everyone enjoyed their curry, even if the place was empty. If you're in need of a curry, in the area and had a few to drink then give this a go. It's a laugh and you'll probably end up with some kind of funny story to tell friends on the next outing.

My only complaint is that the meal was a bit pricey for lunch but the quality of food and the level of service do demand higher prices. I'd like to return for dinner sometime when I want a nicer place. They do take reservations and it is probably recommended. One other comment, the restrooms are nice and clean, but down a flight of stairs with a spiral staircase. If you or someone in your party has mobility issues take note.

The lamb was a good contrast with more earthy flavours - I'm thinking cumin and/or coriander. The sheek kebab was also nice with a slight kick of chilli to liven up the tastebuds The only slight disappointment was my mango lassi which still had undissolved granules of sugar but the flavour was right This was an unexpected find and a bonus great start to our top evening of dancing. If we come back to this area to dance again, I'd be very happy to pop in here again for another meal

It a small space that was open to the outside given the hot day! The service was lovely and friendly throughout and our meal was delicious! We started with poppadoms and Chutney which were delicious then had a couple of appetizers that was also lovely! We enjoyed vegetable samosas and pakoras before moving on to our mains! We tried three : Tandoori chicken for the meat eaters any my daughter and I shared the Dal and paneer makani - the paneer dish was the best I had ever had and paired perfectly with the raita and naan!! Left stuffed but very happy - have yet to have any curry in the US that even comes close ! Loved it !!

The only questionable thing they do is the plate of pickles served when you arrive. THey do not fit terribly well with the rest of the food. I woudl recommend that the best way to approach the food here is to have a large selection fo starters and go on to the main courses only if you feel you really need to. Once you have tried the lamb chops, the chilli paneer, the tiger prawns, Chilli chicken wings, the cubed chicked tikka and a black daal then there is little room for other food. My top two favorites were the lamb kababs made with coriander, cumin and glazed onions. The kabab was tender and flavorful. Next in line was the methi lamb in curry flavored with fenugreeknd. The lamb was super tender and blended perfectly with the curry. I also enjoy dipping the naan in several different sauces. The service was friendly and our food came out fast. The ambiance and decor was pretty and inviting.
