What I particularly like about Shahi Tandoori is that it is split into two quite separate spaces, one side is the restaurant and one is the takeaway. This is genius! There's nothing more annoying than people wandering through while you're eating to pick up their order, letting a draft in and spoiling the ambiance of the restaurant. Well Shahi has it covered. Food-wise, the side dishes are all great...I particularly like the Bombay Aloo, the Sag Paneer and the Onion Bhajis- delicious! I can also recommend the Vegetable Balti and Chicken Tikka Masala. Since this place is just around the corner, we often pop down to pick up a few side dishes to go with a home-cooked curry and they never look at us funny, despite our paltry order! I like them.

As I knew I would be dining on my own, I had spotted that they offered a thali, which is a platter of different items and an ideal way to sample lots of dishes if you're on your own. I munched on some popadoms as I perused the menu. Sadly, they didn't do lassi, so I had a pineapple juice instead. The meat thali came with some tandoori chicken, sheek kebab, lamb rogan josh, sag (spinach), yoghurt, pilau rice and naan. I found everything tasty and just the right amount of food for a Yelp tummy. My only note to the chef was to include more sauce on the dish as overall, the combination of dishes was a bit dry The service was very friendly and this is worth a return visit if I'm ever in the area again
