Just ordered takeaway - enjoyed a chai whilst waiting - delicious. The dining area is clean, well organized, and provides seating for small or large groups. Service was fine for a takeaway order. I ordered the Lamb Korma Nilgiri and garlic naan. The Lamb Korma was, by far, the best Indian dish I have ever enjoyed. I've been blessed to travel the world including India and this dish was a perfect balance of curry, spice, heat, acid, and, what put it over the top, incredibly tender and flavorful lamb. Portion size was reasonable but I wanted more lamb - so good! The naan was fine - nothing over the top - solid. Apologies - I was enjoying the experience too much to take a picture but it would not do the flavor justice + it was takeaway so no style points for plating presentation. This place had the best Indian food of any we went to on our UK vacation. It's fantastically inventive. The menu is a perfect mix of classic Indian food comfort dishes and really interesting approaches and flavor combinations we'd never seen before. The menu has information about spice levels, but they don't do that cheesy thing where they adjust the spice on order - the chef has developed appropriate spice levels for each dish and you can trust that they work. read more

The food was amazing, I had the seafood medley as an appetizer. It consisted of fried monkfish, scallop; and tiger prawn coated in rice. The scallop was cooked to literal perfection. Description drew me in too, "aggressively spiced, but mellowed with yogurt and coconut, a black pepper infused chicken curry in an onion and tomato sauce." It was more like a mild to medium spicy, and I liked the creamy sauce. Very good! MIXED PEPPER CHICKEN - £11.95 My co-worker ordered this dish, described as "a highly popular north Indian chicken dish stir-fried in an Indian cast-iron wok." It actually looked very similar to my Chettinad Chicken except very spicy - also good but I liked my dish better :) LEMON RICE - £4.00 I wish our server told us the portion was enough to share between two people. We had ordered two of these. Tasted good w/ our curry dishes. Overall great Indian spot in Windsor. Next time I'd like to try their desserts too - they all sounded good. Honestly, the only reason for the 4 star is it is expensive. Otherwise, it is probably the best Indian/Curry in the area. But people do not expect to pay much for Curry, hence the 4 stars. But if you want exotic dishes and to try new things, this is your place. Great for a special occassion. read more

I was in town for one night and wanted a good curry. I asked the guy at the train station where I could get one, and he pointed me here (right up the street). I LOVE this food. It is a bit of traditional Indian with a new "fusion" twist thrown in. Normally I'd avoid that, but I am glad I gave it a shot. We had a large group and sampled a bit of everything. The Spinach and Feta Samosas were small but full of amazing flavor. We were given a free sample of the sweetcorn patties and they were great too. My favorite was the spiced potato salad, served cold. I had the Butter Chicken with Spinach. It was just sweet enough without being overwhelming, and the spinach was a nice and unusual touch. The chicken was all white meat and very tender, with no fatty bits. The Lamb Korma was very lovely, creamy and sweet, and the lamb was sooo tender. My uncle had the Lal Maas and said it was the best lamb curry he'd ever had, and he has been eating curry in London for 30 years. The deserts were great too. I decided on the no-so-Indian Mango and Passionfruit Brulee, and I am glad I did. It was a perfect combination of flavors to cool off after a spicy meal. I enjoyed the passionfruit seeds inside. My sister found the Rose Kulfi to be her favorite. The staff was very friendly and accommodated our group of 5 quickly without a reservation. They checked on us frequently as well. ONLY reason I am not giving 5 stars is there is an early dining special between 6 and 7 with 20% off...and even though I specifically said this before eating...they still didn't take it off the bill and I had to remind them. However, cannot give 4.5 stars so had to mark it down somehow. Non veg combination starter could cover 3 people. Bombay chicken nicely flavored. If you're fed up of traditional Indian places with the velvet wallpaper, or simply want an Indian but in a "nice restaurant", you should try this place. It is a decent size and I've never found it to be packed (been here three times). It has an airy feel and a modern decor. They're aiming for an upmarket feel and come out with amuses bouches (they've always been the potato fritters). While they're not molecular cooking Indian (now there's a thought!) there are some dishes with ingredients that you won't associate with Indian cuisine: Tandoori guinea fowl, monkfish, venison masala. Presentation is immaculate and portion sizes are fair without being enormous (I had the lamb biryani and had leftovers). Sides are smaller than mains. I would pick this place over others in Windsor simply because of the ambience. read more

The food was truly excellent! The flavoring is nothing like the ones in America. This is a top notch. The seasoning is very flavorful. The korma is done perfect. We ask the restaurant to choose the menu in advance, giving them the opportunity to serve their best. We visited the Mango Lounge in August 2012. This was the club's second visit to the restaurant the last time being January 2011. The restaurant charges 25% more than the average for a meal in Windsor, so we expected something very special. We were greatly disappointed. The starters were bland followed by a poor choice of mains. A dish of King prawns were coated in something that turned them rock hard. The Mango Lounge is one of the few restaurants to serve us a desert, Carrots pudding with mango kulfi and fruit compote. We would have preferred more attention had been given to the main, however the desert was excellent. Windsor Curry Club rated the modern style Mango Lounge 6.03 out of 10. First time in Windsor and I asked for recommendations for an Indian joint. Was told all the good ones were in Cookham. Decided to Yelp Mango Lounge and it did not disappoint. By far the best Indian this world traveler has had. You can't go wrong with the meat and vegetarian appetizer platters. The rose petal chicken korma was slight sweet with hints of rose water and coconut, while the Daal Makhani was rich and earthy. The wine we ordered (sulya) paired well with the lamb korma which was pressure cooked, with the correct balance of heat, flavor and tartness. We also ordered peshawari and garlic naan. Both were flaky and crispy on the outside while soft on the inside. Every time I come to Windsor, I will make it a point to visit the Mango Lounge at least once! read more

Was craving curry and staying just down the road so decided to venture down and try it out. Ambiance was nice, a little more upscale than other curry restaurants I have been too. As for the food, I had the duck spring roll to start. Tasted good but the duck was too mushy for me and would not order this again. For main I had the chettiand chicken, pulav rice and garlic naan. Everything was delicious and exactly what I was looking for. Chicken had some nice heat and good flavours. Overall great meal and I recommend this place. Went with my business associates to Mango for dinner, as no trip to UK is complete without a delish Indian repast. I've had a lot of good Indian food I my time, but rarely would I ever describe it as transcendent. But Mango prices to be the exception. We turned over control of the ordering to the waiter who fixes us up with the perfect dinner. Starters included perfectly fried Fig Samosas, a giant almond crusted fried prawn in a parfait of three vegetable coulis and cream, and perfectly seared scallops on a earthy sweet bed of coarse chopped al dente peas. Mains included three different curry gravies, one with Turkey, one with chicken, and one with a lamb shank. All three impressive, distinctive and with just enough heat to remind you your at an authentic Indian establishment. For sides, we had the one misstep of the evening: a cauliflower and potato dish out-shown by a fabulous dry-not-mushy okra sauté. All this was capped off with their version of an Eton Mess. The piece de resistance? A complimentary highball glass of Baileys! Excellent service. Innovative dishes. A fair price. Highly recommend. Don't miss. read more

We came across Mango while enjoying a night walk around the castle. The restaurant has quite a few award winning dishes on the menu and all are delicious. UK definitely has some great Indian food and this was a fine example. We had scallops as starters that were absolutely amazing. I don't remember the names of the main courses but they were spicy and tasty. Nice touch: once you are done with your meal the staff doesn't rush with the check to you giving some time to enjoy after food relaxation. Unfortunately it is not very common in states. read more

Massive fan of this restaurant. Food is very, very good and the spiced flavours come through much 'cleaner' than the blander taste you often get at many Indian restaurants. I live about 25 minutes drive away, so plenty of alternatives for me including a couple within walking distance. Really like the staff here, one in particular is my favourite waiter. Even if you haven't been back for months, you get a warm welcome and he remembers your favourite dishes. read more
