The menu had familiar dishes and eschewed the trend of some places to introduce new specials. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have my favoured mango lassi. However, sometimes, old favourites are old favourites for a reason. Our popaddoms came with some nice condiments and the starter of onion bhaji was light and crisp. The lamb makhani was in a sauce sweetend with coconut. This was balanced with our other choice of chicken tikka dupiaza, which was more savoury. We tend to get a take away and this is either delivered free (orders over £10) or collected (with 10% off if the order is over £15). The food is always freshly cooked and portions are generous. You'll find all the curry house favourites on the menu together with some more unusual dishes. As a starter the prawn puree comes highly recommended. A flat, light bread, stuffed with lightly spiced prawns and garnished with salad and lemon. The flavour is superb and, if it were available as a main course I'd order it every time! The Biriani dishes are very good and, in particular the vegetable curry that accompanies is rich and flavoursome, unlike many curry houses. Several of the special dishes are not available for takeaway meaning that when you're hooked on this place, and you surely will be, you will just have to visit the restaurant. The monkfish mazza, in particular, is to die for! The restaurant also caters for functions (in house and externally) and has been featured and recommended in various newspapers and TV shows. The interior has some traditional Nepalese wood carving as decoration but is otherwise indistinguishable from your average Indian restaurant. The menu mixes familiar Indian favourites (so bahji and pakora and the like as starters, and a range of curries as mains) with more distinctively spiced Nepalese dishes. My paneer tandoori starter had Nepalese spices (so less chilli heat and more fresh coriander) and my friend's Mo-mo dumplings looked more Chinese in style, except for the spicy dipping sauce. My vegetable Bhuna was fine but my friend's "Everest Chicken" was apparently outstanding. (Bear in mind the vegetarian choices tend to be Indian.) Service throughout was excellent. They cater for a fair number of parties from the nearby barracks (there were two on our visit), but their kitchen is clearly used to that, so it didn't affect our service at all.
