I took my car to Rapid Rotation for my latest emissions inspection. They are station number GA000106. Jeffery did my inspection and he did a good job. He was friendly and got me in and out as quick as anyone reasonably could. What I appreciated most is he was familiar with my old car and its quirks. As my car has aged, I've had trouble getting it to pass emissions, not because of actual emissions problems (I've had my mechanic fix those), but because of electrical issues. Jeffery knew exactly what to do. The shop I get my car serviced at around the corner, Eurotech, referred me to Rapid Rotation. Because of the direct referral, Rapid Rotation knocked $5 off my emissions test fee. They charged me $20 when it's normally $25, so that was nice. Rapid Rotation is kind of like an older, smaller, locally-owned Discount Tire. It's more along the lines of a humble mom and pop shop. Unlike Discount Tire, they also do oil changes, change air filters, service transmissions, drain and fill radiators, service differentials, and change wiper blades. The prices seem fair and in line with other shops. For example, an oil change is $30 ($60 for full synthetic) and a transmission service is $125. There are two Rapid Rotation locations: this one in Marietta and one in Kennesaw. This one is in a small strip (East Marietta Automotive Center) with other auto service shops. The parking lot is packed with cars. The shop itself is old (over 20 years in business) and no-frills. They have a waiting room with windows into the garage (there's actually an "Emissions Test Viewing Area"), a TV, magazines, and a restroom for customer use. During my visit, the TV was tuned to CMT. They have three bays and I saw four employees working when I swung by during my lunch break. read more

An all-in-one spot for oil changes, emissions, rotation and other minor updates to your car, located right at the intersection of Roswell and Lower Roswell. I've never had to wait more than 20 minutes to get the full job done here-- they have a quick and knowledgable staff who gets you in and out and is polite. I've never once been approached for unnecessary extras, and I've a few times been given sound advice for things I might want to have looked at that they don't even do-- which shows that they care about your car and aren't trying to screw you over, a seeming rarity in automotives. I feel comfortable and pleased going to Rapid Rotation particularly because their prices are a little bit lower on average than most other places, and I know I'm getting a quality job. Another plus about this place is that it is located in a plaza with 4-5 other car-related businesses (from engine work to sound systems) so if they don't do it, someone right next door will. read more

Matt and his crew are as good as it gets. They do a little of everything treat you like you'd like to be treated. I was lucky enough to have a neighbor recommend them to us and they've be fantastic. We were headed out of town at Christmas and our battery died. We got the car to them they went got a specialty battery for our car changed it and they total was less than a battery at the parts store. Just a good honest local business that serves the community. I want to start by saying this is the new place I will be taking any of my cars. I'm not much of a car guy. I'm not a car guy at all, and I've had a few mechanics in the past take advantage of that once the gauge my reactions. I explained to the man up front what my problems were and he gave me a couple guesses based on the year, make and model of the car. So I left my car with them. I got a call back a couple days later with what they had found, a reasonable estimate of the cost to repair, and an approximate date it would be ready, and I said go ahead, since it's my only transportation. I got a call back today saying it's ready to be picked up. I go in, and the cost was a bit less than the initial estimate, I just drove the car home (and a bit extra around), and it just feels so much better. I want to thank everyone at the shop, they were all nice and knew what they were doing, and I will be recommending this place to anyone else I know who needs work done on their car. read more

Had to find a mechanic capable of working on one of those "half-breed" cars (part SAAB and part Subaru). Had to have a front, half-axle replaced. Got quotes from several mechanics. Had several (Subaru shops) turn me down. Couldn't find what I would call a mechanic -- someone who did more than just plug in new parts and pray. The guys at Rapid Rotation (Marietta) understood my car as mechanics and also understood my concerns (more like my ignorance). They fixed both at a very fair price. Like real mechanics used to do, they found some additional maintenance/wear issues and suggested I keep an eye on them. They did NOT make a big deal over these and try to get me to repair/replace them immediately. It is hard to find people who think and work like real mechanics. These guys do. I encourage anyone who is serious about maintaining their car over the next XXX years to check them out. NOTE: Be sure you are talking with the guys on Roswell Road in Marietta. Went in for an oil change, asked how long it would take, they responded "We will get you in in just a few minutes." Waited in their waiting room, stuck watching "Dr. Oz" and some other talk show (blugh) for 45 minutes then decided to leave. Why wouldn't they just tell me "We have a few cars in front of you, come back in an hour?" If they can't be honest on something as simple as an oil change, why on Earth would I trust them to be honest with something more important? I even watched as they had an additional car in front of mine, all getting lengthy tire service. So clearly this wasn't just a mistake on how long the current cars repairs would take. Also, if it was a mistake, they could have easily informed that it was going to take a few more minutes than they predicted.
