Ranoush in the CWE is back and better than ever! After temporarily closing due to a fire, this Central West End gem has fully reopened with a stunning renovation. The new bar, lounge, furniture, and restrooms are fresh, modern, and luxurious, while still keeping the Middle Eastern charm that makes Ranoush so special. The decor perfectly captures a Middle East meets Versace vibe--black and gold everywhere with dim lighting while maintained an inviting feel. The outdoor seating is perfect for a relaxed evening, and the hookah service--available both indoors and outdoors--adds an extra layer of authenticity and fun to the experience. The food is just as incredible as ever. The hummus is silky smooth and paired with fresh, soft pita that's simply addictive. The chicken shawarma is a personal favorite--juicy, perfectly seasoned, and served with rice & a side salad (or Arabic fries if you want a little upgrade). Ranoush offers top-notch service with a friendly and attentive staff who make every guest feel welcome. Whether you're here for dinner, drinks, or hookah, the newly renovated space and incredible menu make it better than ever.

    Chicken Shawrma and Kibbeh

We had gone out for dinner on a Sunday evening and there was only 1 waiter working the afternoon. It took forever to order but we received all our food hot and ready after placing our order. Highly recommend the kibbeh, it is very yummy and reminded me of Cuban croquetta. The restaurant itself wasn't too busy, just a group or 2 smoking hookah in the lounge area. Once we were ready to pay, we got charged an automatic gratuity of almost $13... when my partner pointed this out I thought that the 2nd waiter who came into work later that evening and was closing us out had made a mistake (you'd usually see an automatic gratuity being charged to parties bigger of 5 or 6 people). She stated that this was not the case and that restaurant had been doing this for a while now... I've been to Ranoush multiple times to both the CWE and the Loop location and this is the 1st time I hear of this. This new initiative wasn't even mentioned prior to ordering or stated anywhere on the menu. I even questioned the waiter if the automatic gratuity would be charged for appetizers and they said yes. Great food and ambience but very pricey food and a very pricey forceful tip.

Order: Hookah Blue Mist flavor (blueberry & Honey) Pros: the hookah flavor was ok lol Cons: They barely had any liquor. No jack, no bourbon, etc. they did have crown peach and apple though.

Got this for my husband and I for dinner to go and had such a tasty and delicious experience. Their hummus is so unique but in a really delicious way. I am not as big of a fan of tabbouli as my husband but I loved the salad that came with the chicken platter. the meat was PERFECTLY SEASONED and COOKED. Will definitely be returning.

Food was okay, a little too dry for my taste, and also on the pricey side for what it is. Loved the atmosphere tho. We mainly came here for the hookah, I don't smoke, but my friends said the hookah was good.

This was a great dinner. The Lamp chops and kabobs were superb. My bae noshed on the lamb chops. We are never disappointed when we dine here We have tried other variations of middle eastern cuisine. Ranoush is still far out favorite. The staff was nice and friendly as well. We dined outside due to Covid restrictions but the heating poles that were aligned in area made it quite comfortable. The live music being played at tte other restaurant was a great bonus. We truly e enjoyed it. We will definitely return.

Wow! Critics might complain the walls need fresh paint, but the dive aspect I forced myself to ignore and focused on the food. Excellent place!

All round great ethnic place for real deal Syrian food and vibes. From the venue, decor, music and the food. This place is a hidden gem in the CWE. Ahmad is the man and he has made several consistently unique delicious meals when I have come in solo or with groups. The VIP area is awesome so try and nab that with friends. The mixed grill plate is the best thing on the menu in my opinion but nothing is bad either. The Sapanikh is a sleeper that many do not think would be that good by oh my is it ever! The Jareer salad is super refreshing and complements any entree they have. Good portions and great prices and awesome service.

"Chicken" spinach with garlic (with no chicken)

It is not good. We ordered two entrees and left hungry. The fried zucchini entree was basically a $15 yogurt soup with about 10 quarter-sized slices of zucchini. Definitely not a main dish. It was an appetizer. The spinach with chicken dish had only pieces of garlic with no chicken at all. At all. That for $18. Just sad.

We arrived a little after 11 and found a space in the back parking lot. The lot is convenient as it's pretty well-lit and is diagonal from the CF. We entered through the back where the deck is and walked right in. Upon first glance, you'll notice the hanging lights above the entrance and then after a few feet, the bar is immediately to the right. The tables are all along the left side as to make a walkway for the bar (super convenient). Due it being their anniversary, it was a bit crowded but not too bad where you couldn't get a drink or walk through. My usual go-to is a flavored vodka (three olives grape) and sprite. While they had a plethora of spirits, sadly this wasn't one of them. They had other flavored vodkas but I opted to get a simple Cosmo while my friend got a makers and coke. The Cosmo was just what I needed and might I add, well made! After we got our drinks, we did a quick walk through of the other side called The Oddities (coming soon), as well as the upstairs that overlooks the entire place. The stairs are steep, so it would behoove you to hold on to the railing. While I love trying new places, I was a bit apprehensive because I thought I'd stick out like a sore thumb. Turns out, everyone was friendly, the drinks are great, and the music wasn't bad! They had different acts going on for this particular evening (I'm not sure if this is the norm), but I know my friend is a regular on Tuesday's for karaoke. I do intend to come back and try out some more drinks and food and check out the other place once it officially opens.

Great food and an inviting atmosphere inside and outside including a huge patio for diners and a separate indoor Hookah room in the back away from the diners for those who wish to partake. The menu is expansive from traditional middle eastern dishes to pizza and spicy fries ensuring their is truly something for everyone in your group. Between the outstanding food, flavorful hookah, generous portions, and genuinely hospitable atmosphere, this place is a staple in the Central West End and worth coming back to again and again (and most people do!).
