Yesterday was special day for me; it was the 40th birthday of my nephew who is also my godson. His lovely wife, giving him a surprise party, decided on Levant as the location for the party, and what a great choice that was. First, the owner, Ahmad, is a very pleasant young man who is aware of the needs of his customers; he listened to what is expected and delivered to a perfection. He was there from beginning to end. He ensured that everything was top shape; there was nothing we could complain about and I tell you I have one brother who is very critical of restaurants foods and he actually complemented the restaurant on all aspects of the party. The decor of the place is welcoming, comfortable, and warm; the colors are elegant, making a statement without much noise or pretense. Hard to believe how many people they were able to comfortably fit in the main hall. The chairs are very very comfortable, more like chairs for a home dinning room, rather than a restaurant. Now, let me tell you about the staff: warm, smiling, genuinely wanting to serve you and please you; I want to extend special thanks to bartender Peter and also bartender Christian (sorry if I misspelled your name). They never tired from start to end. NOW, let me move to the food, and how great the food was! The appetizers were perfect, especially baba gannouj; the salad, with onions, was so tasty I made a sandwich with the pita bread and enjoyed it that way. The main dish had shish tawook (chicken on a skewer), shish kaboom (meat on a skewer), and lamb chops; they tasted so great that we decided to go back on our next visit to St Louis. The meat was soft, yet not overcooked; smelled great; rightly season with balance of herbs that brought the aroma of the Middle East to the gathering. The rest rooms are CLEAN! They smell good and conveniently located in the restaurant. The location is on a lively street, but not noisy; parking is not easily available and you might need to find one a block away but that is no fault of the restaurant. I encourage you to give Levant restaurant a try for a casual dinner on a week day, a weekend night, or a party; you will get very good food for reasonable prices, nice staff, and hospitable environment. Coffee is a must have, first of all. the rose water coffee was absolutely mind blowing. the pita here is also fantastic and they keep it coming! the falafel was slightly overdone, but i still enjoyed it a lot when with hummus. chicken shawarma was good although a bit soupy. environment/staff/location are all 5/5 stars. i intend to come back whenever i get the chance! read more

Great Mediterranean restaurant located in the Central West End. It's a bit different than the typical Middle Eastern food you get at most restaurants, but it's still quite good. I got a chicken dish with a vegetable similar to spinach in it. It was amazing, along with the cucumber salad and the baba ghanoush I ordered as an appetizer. Would definitely recommend checking this place out, as it offers a unique style of Mediterranean food not found at most places. read more

Very fresh and wickedly delicious food. I was skeptical about how filling the meals would be, but the portion sizes were perfect. You'd be hard pressed to find a better option for an after hours meal! read more

Authentic middle eastern cuisine including the warm hospitality. The babaghanoush is smoky and delicious, the kibbeh nayeh a fresh take on the traditional and the main courses are worth saving room for during your dining experience. And if you really want to experience the complete package, finish with knafeh. Go. Go tonight. You won't be disappointed. Good, clean food and friendly, thoughtful service. read more

I paid $55 worth of food to just get food poisoning and puke all over my bathroom. & If you going to make your food that pricy at least make sure its good quality. read more

I ordered out & purchased the most popular meal that was supposed to be a variety of meats. For $19 I was expecting way more. I had 4 pieces of meat-which the lamb was one bite, some rice and a sad excuse for a salad. The flavor was good, just not so much their portion sizing for the price. I wouldn't choose to pay that much for what was offered. The pictures were deceiving. And I didn't even receive my pita with my order. Three stars is a stretch-- only because of the flavor of food was good. read more

Wonderful international restaurant in CWE. Have been here several times now and the falafel, hummus, and cheese apps are very good. A few of the dinners have been fantastic while one or two were slightly bland. Hookah can be a turn off for dining in. Small beer selection - they should find one or two unique international beers. Employees are great as the small staff cares about quality. read more

We got kibeeh, yogurt dip, lamb chops and coffee. Lamb chops were amazing, please get those! It came with rice, great cucumber/tomatoes/cilantro salad and really good mayo/garlic dip for the meat. The appetizers were not very good and the coffee wasn't either. I prefer stronger coffee. We sat outside and they allow dogs, which is great! You can also get hookah there. read more

We had dinner with friends at Levant Saturday night. Great experience. Chef was aware that we were a big group with kids (12, 10, 8, and 5) and sent recommendations and food to share. Service was great. We loved the creative cocktails and Mediterranean fare. A lot of the dishes were new to us - and we enjoyed them all. Recommend that we turn out to support this (relatively) new restaurant. read more

Such a great experience at Levant. Food was amazing, drinks were wonderful and lots of wine variety, and above all service was very good. I recommend this place to anyone!! read more

We ordered food from them on Saturday night and picked it up to take to the hospital to dine with our daughter-in-law who is hospitalized. It was delicious, just like their other location in the Loop on Delmar. They did not serve the shrimp that was supposed to have been in the Ranoush Mixed Grill, which was disappointing, but they were very generous with the other foods. I particularly love, love, love the Humus and Pia bread, yummy! read more

This was good! Some of the better falafel I've ever had. Crisp, fresh, and flavorful. Veggie platter was on point.

First time having levant style cuisine and we had a great time. One of the diners grew up with the cuisine, and he said the food was very close to the food he grew up with. We all had hummus, falafel balls, baba ganoush and a cucumber tomato spiced salad. All items were delicious. I personally had the dawood basha. Meatballs cooked in tomato and garlic sauce. Served with rice and another fresh veggie salad. I had a drink from the bar, called a "Damascus Nights" nice and flavorful. We ended the night with hookah, and enjoyed our time together. We were there celebrating a graduation, with a party of 10 and our waitress was great at meeting the tables needs. Only negative was one person's dish did not come out until much later than the rest. Luckily we weren't in a rush and enjoying each other's company. They sent another plate of appetizer trio to serve as an apology and tie that diner over. Nice gesture. Nice area filled with lots of dining options. Definitely one to check out! read more

Delicious and fantastic service. We were visiting out of town and love Mediterranean food, so this sounded like a great place to stop. The vegetarian plate offered a nice variety of what they offered and everything was delicious. My family thought the falafel was the best they had ever had (we ordered more). Our server was very sweet and offered good recommendations and descriptions. The owner happened to be sitting behind us and offered us free dessert. If we lived in town, we would frequent this restaurant and will definitely be back if we're ever in St. Louis again. read more

The food, hookah, music nice. Sometimes the service can be a little slow, and also I hate that they reserve tables now for people when we at first could just walk in and sit. Overpriced as well. But definitely great vibe! read more

My fiancé and I were always wondering why this place was always empty.....We decided to find out the hard way. we took our two friends from out of town here and we were the third table to be seated on a Saturday night, this issue with this place is it takes FOREVER for even simple things to be accomplished. We were seated and ordered 3 cocktails and a water, the cocktails took 10 minutes to come out and they served the two men first, then brought out my girlfriends drink, and completely forgot about my water. They did not ask to take our orders at this time. We were already so disappointed we asked for the check for the cocktails. That took so long my fiancé went and chased them down for the check, again I emphasize the place was empty. Come on!! So bizarre. The only good thing to be said was the staff was nice and they served a delicious pear martini. Will not come back. read more

Very bad ! I've been waiting 2 hours for delivery, and they force me to cancel the order

Disappointing--we were anticipating a relaxed, enjoyable low key dinner, but it was not to be. Even though we had a reservation and in any event it was early in the evening and there were plenty of tables, we felt like they were trying to get us finished and out the door as fast as possible. We ordered an appetizer, salads and entrees, and asked that they be served in that order. Instead, the appetizer and salads came out almost immediately, together, and the entrees were served just a few minutes later. We asked that the entrees be taken back, which was done, but every few minutes they asked whether we were ready for the entrees. After several repetitions of that, we told them again we wanted to finish our salads first. When we were ready for our entrees, they told us the chef was putting them back on the grill to make sure they were hot--in other words, even though they were the ones who had rushed the preparation they simply put the entrees aside to re-serve them to us. Predictably, one of the entrees was cooked more than we had asked for--but as it was still favorable my companion chose to eat it anyway, The other, however, was so over cooked and dried out that it was essentially inedible. To the waiter's credit, when he asked how things were and I told him my entree was dried out and overcooked, he returned and asked if I wanted them to prepare a new one (I assume he left and returned because he had to get approval to make that offer). By that point, we'd had enough so I simply ate some of the rice and vegetables and left the rest (and turned down the waiter's offer of a box to take the uneaten food home!). When the bill came, we were charged for everything. Again, to the waiter's credit, when I told him my entree had been inedible, he left and came back with a revised bill that took that entree off--but I felt that was something they should have done on their own. The waiter was apologetic and expressed the hope that we would return--but no one else from the restaurant acknowledged the problems or said anything to us. Unfortunately, we won't be in any hurry to return. read more

Had dinner there 7/20. The food was quite good, and we are big fans of their sister restaurant Ranoush. However, the service was poor. They appeared be significantly understaffed, and our food took nearly 45 minutes to arrive. Our server was apologetic, but clearly needed some help. Hope this can be improved! read more

Amazing dinner! Great drinks and wonderful service by our server, John. We will definitely be back!

Meh. Better food out there. Ordered takeout...we are very familiar with the cuisine and had a craving. Been excited to try Levant. Overpriced and under seasoned. Ordered hummus and received no pita whatsoever. I gambled and ordered "pickles and olives" with the knowledge that they might just throw me some stuff from a jar. Even worse, canned black and green olives, and some sliced pickles. Not even a nice selection. Why put it on the menu? Will stick to my tried and true places when I'm craving kefta, falafel and kibbeh... wish I would have saved my money. read more

We had a late night snack of the vegetarian sampler - it was delish! Wine and beer selection were good at a great value ($6-10 for wine by the glass). We sat on the patio but a trip to the bathroom revealed an inviting interior space as well! The service was personable and attentive. We are planning our next visit soon, and we are especially excited about their new DAILY happy hour!! read more

Great service and food. Very tasty. We had the Levant Grill and Kibbeh Labaneh. Both were delicious.

I eat at Ranoush often. The food is delicious and the portions are nice usually. However, the portions have started to get smaller and inconsistent and it has made me want to start looking elsewhere for my fav dishes. The food is good though and I do recommend. read more

Had carry out, so this review may be different from what it could be if I had dined in. I don't expect an amazing dinner when I order carry-out over dining in, but this order was extremely underwhelming. What I had, followed by grade and written explanation for each grade. 1. Hummus (C-): The hummus was not very exciting, in my personal opinion it had way too much tahini and every other flavor was completely missing. Very little in terms of chickpea or lemon flavor. Not the worst Hummus, but definitely sub par. 2. Falafel (D+): The falafel was lacking any real sort of flavor and it was incredibly dense. Nothing really to say here, pretty sub-par. Tahini sauce that was provided was absolutely disgusting and tasted sour/old. 3. Bameh (F): This is supposed to be a flavorful Okra dish in a tomato based sauce. No idea what happened here but it's awful. It lacks any sort of flavor at all, and the "pieces" of Okra were few and far between. There were maybe 8 1" inch pieces of Okra total. Compared to the images on the site what I got was laughable. The tomato base is without a doubt just canned tomato sauce, and it tasted like Campbell's canned tomato soup. For nearly $15 dollars this is absolutely a dish you should avoid at all costs. I love Okra and don't mind the sliminess of it, but overall this dish lacks flavor of any sort, and does come off as too slimy. read more

Great atmosphere, amazing food with excellent presentation... hookah is good and the staff is super nice

Fantastic! We had the baba ghanoush along with Molokhiya (splendid!) and mixed grill (chicken, beef, lamb). Enjoy the atmosphere and music!

Just ordered by postmates and everything tasted good but there were several issues. Hefty service fees considering the delivery was free. There was nothing to eat my babaganoush with except a fork and the other folks pita bread orders were soggy. The chicken wings were dry and only 4 for $7.50. If you are going to charge service fees on top of the price of the food, should make it excellent, especially when it is 1/3 the cost of the food. read more

The restaurant has a very nice quiet ambience. The place is fairly new so it wasn't as busy when we went there, and the owner/manager was super nice and made sure we were being served well. We were fasting so he gave us complimentary hummus and pita. All the food came out within 20 min of putting the order, so service was pretty quick. The rose tea kehwa tasted good, but obviously was very strong for me as I'm not a coffee drinker. The hummus and pita tasted fresh. The chicken wings were okay, I wouldn't get them again, as the chicken wasn't cooked to perfection. The falafel were scrumptious and some of the best I've had in St. Louis. The mixed grill included chicken skewer pieces, ground beef kebab and lamb chops. All the meats were cooked to perfection, and tasted really good. I would definite recommend ordering that as it lets you try a little bit of everything. Along with appetizers and French fries, my husband and I were easily able to share the mixed grill platter instead of ordering two entrees. Overall, a definite recommendation out in the central west end area. It helps that jennis splendid ice cream is right across the street from it. Great spot for ice cream. read more

The food is great, service is terrible. Server brought me the wrong order and when I told him he said "the computer put in chicken instead of beef." No offer to bring me the correct order or apology. Just the excuse that it was "the computers fault." I sent it back and the rest of the table was nearly finished with the meal when my correct order arrived. Also no offer to comp any part of my order. Offering a free dessert or drink would have been a nice gesture. read more
