While the high-tops have round stools without backs, all the stools at the bar have backs. Everything looks clean and orderly. It had been called to my attention that some good things were being said about the bar food being served here. That was good enough for one of my fellow retirees and me to give it a try. I imagine during racing season, 1 PM may not be a busy time for them. Most people interested in the races are probably already at the track. But it's now a couple of weeks after the track has closed and there were less than a handful of people at the bar. All the tables were empty. The menu I ordered from listed breakfast meals, but their webpage does not include a breakfast menu or even show the hours that they are open. In fact, the web menu prices would indicate that they are out of date. In any event, we're here to try the typical bar food. Starting with a Guinness for me and a Bloody Mary for my companion, we're now ready to delve into the lunch menu. A dozen Flats and Drums ($17.95) were ordered crispy and medium hot with a side of blue cheese dressing. They came out just as ordered. The crispy outer skin was possibly the best I've had with wings. I decided to try the Not My First Rodeo Smash Burger ($17.95). Using two ¼ lb. patties the kitchen was able to maximize the crispiness of the edges on each patty. It was the first thing that I noticed as I took my initial bite. The second thing that came to my attention was both the freshness and how flavorful the kaiser roll was. It turned out that the kaiser rolls come from the Rockland Bakery; a place where, many years ago, I used to get the rolls warm off the conveyer belt as they came out of the oven. But that wasn't the end of my pleasure in enjoying my burger. This burger variation included applewood smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, a sweet onion ring, lettuce, tomato, and the house Carolina Gold BBQ sauce. Simply a delicious blend of flavors. My fellow lunch mate's Griff's Double Smash ($17.95) also sounded very good. It included cheddar cheese, applewood smoked bacon, caramelized balsamic onion jam, lettuce, tomato, and pickle. He requested that they hold a couple of the toppings and the kitchen complied. He too was pleased with his choice of burger. Service at the bar was friendly, attentive, and pleasant. The attendant even changed the channel on one of the TVs at our request.

As one of the oldest operating bars in Saratoga Springs, it has been around since the 70's. Apparently many musical greats used to hang out here after gigs. If you skim through some of the Yelp reviews of Tin 'n' Lint - you'll find accounts of those that used to patronize this spot back in the day. It's obviously done something right throughout the years. Today it's a welcoming spot for local regulars and passerbys. It is a simple straightforward bar that isn't trying to be anything that it's not. The booths and tables are etched with names and memories. The walls are lined with old photos. It's brimming with historical captures of fond happy times - and of people coming together. Tin 'n' Lint proved to be a ideal spot for catching up with some of my husband's friends from the area a number of weeks back. Snagging a spacious booth was easy and there was never a wait to order drinks. The jukebox would intermittently play a diverse array of tunes throughout our time here, and we watched a number of people playing pool. I appreciated that this cozy spot was well lit - allowing for solid people watching and enabling you to easily catch up with friends and/or potentially make new ones. Be prepared to encounter a number of interesting attendees during your time here. We ended up meeting quite a few during our time here. Also be sure to bring cash - since it is cash only.
