Downtown City Tavern - Got takeout last night and this is what we got. How do you serve this crap?

This spot is pretty good! I've gotten the McPat burger, garlic buffalo flatbread, beef shawarma…read moregyro, magic mushroom pizza and tenders (both grilled and fried). All were pretty tasty. Pizzas are perfectly cooked and so are the tenders! McPat burger was also pretty solid. The lime habanero sauce for the tenders is the absolute best because it's citrusy and spicy at the same time...I made a salad with the tenders and used the lime habanero sauce as salad dressing. Service has always been great and so is the vibe. They also have outdoor seating now that the weathers gotten a bit warmer. Check them out!

The initial impression was the same when we arrived. The place was clean and well put together with a friendly atmosphere. We got our menus and our drinks and took some time to place our orders. We eventually ordered the tavern Mac and cheese and the piggly wiggly burger. We also ordered an extra basket of the tavern fries as those are typically a big hit and very delicious. I got the pretzels for myself. This is where the disappointment began. The Mac and cheese had good taste but it was still very lackluster. We knew to expect loads of cheese; which is great! But what we got was nearly just cheese itself... maybe a handful of noodles. The burger was also a huge disappointment. As having had it before I knew it was pretty good. This time it wasn't . What I got was a greasy unseasoned burger, pulled pork with no flavor and coleslaw that was bland as well. The bun was soggy. The burger was soaking wet. The pretzels were still doughy and not fully cooked. They were very hard and not as good as I had hoped seeing as they were once amazing. The fries were soaked in their oil. They are seasoned, and they are tossed with their seasoning and oil. However these were soggy, nor crispy in the slightest and dripped all over the place. Service was mediocre at best. Plates were pulled without asking if we were finished . Upon returning the server seemed to be somewhat condescending . Had I not brought large bills I would have not left a tip to be quite frank. Overall I do not plan to return here . I am very dissatisfied. I hope this place turns back around but as for me, I do not plan to spend my money here anymore.

Yeah so... this is very unlike me, but I couldn't help it... we hadn't been to a Texas Roadhouse in…read moreover a year. This weekend was my first time in Lake George, and I usually try to steer clear of chain restaurants when on road trips. Boyfriend is definitely more a chain fan and before meeting me, would only go to places like the 99, Applebees, etc - but he really appreciates local spots now. However - I make an exception for Texas Roadhouse! We had no idea there was one in Queensbury, 10 minutes from our Lake George hotel, and when we spotted it we decided to cancel our reservation for another local spot and go there instead... It was packed. 50-minute wait for a table and the fact that Boyfriend agreed to wait says a lot. I guess a lot of people take their moms out on the Saturday night for Mother's Day?? But I love a packed restaurant, so I was in my comfort zone here. Food did *not* disappoint! We had our usual... him the steak with fries and Caesar salad and I did the grilled shrimp with rice, baked potato and corn. We shared more grilled shrimp as an app - we love the lemon and garlic sauce... wish I could replicate this at home. Lastly Boyfriend is insisting I mention our waitress Lexi.... She was excellent! Super friendly and professional, very efficient! Ask to be seated in her section! We absolutely will next time we visit (because yeah, we'll be back. I'll need a two-night stay next time to also try another restaurant!)

Your server never takes long to come over. All of the appetizer options are good but we tend to get the boneless wings which are delicious, great sauce and fried fresh. The steaks, for the price, are unbeatable. Seasoned well and cooked perfectly almost every time.

Service is great - the people that work here are awesome. But, the kitchen got really backed up and it took an extremely long time to get our food. Thankfully, we really dig our friends and nobody was starving to death. The actual food was fine. We shared nachos and they weren't anything special. Probably could have used a bit more cheese between the layers but the ingredients seemed fresh; nothing questionable. I had the Greek salad with chicken. Again-just fine. Chicken was a bit dry and the bread (garlic?) on the side was chewy and inedible. One of my friends had the roast beef panini and really liked it; the other 2 ordered the "cure" burger - without the bun; since it seemed to have so many ingredients. Save room and kill the bun! Here is the description from the menu: West Mountain's New Signature Burger. 1/2 pound Angus chuck/brisket burger topped with sliced tomato, guacamole, and corn salsa with your choice of Swiss, cheddar, American, mozzarella, or blue cheese | $12.99. Both reported that not all of the ingredients were on there and that they think if they had guacamole on their burgers, they would have tasted better. Neither thought it was a half pound burger, either. 'Twas a bit smaller than that. I snagged a few French fries and they tasted good at the time, but left a heavy layer of grease in my mouth afterwards. Maybe time to change the oil in the fryers? Overall, not bad...but nothing over-the-top-special.
