The Grateful Dead is a low-key pub that serves high-quality food. It has its own private parking lot behind the building--always a plus. Despite the name, the background music isn't all Grateful Dead. It's an eclectic mix--stuff you rarely hear elsewhere, which makes for a refreshing atmosphere. They're only open four days a week, so don't expect to just drop in whenever. I've only been in the late afternoon, so I can't speak to the nighttime scene or the drinking crowd. When I go, there are usually a few people, mostly at the bar. I sit at the bar too. I don't drink, just get a glass of water, order food and wait for it to come out. Service is solid. The food? Excellent. No complaints. The menu has burgers, sandwiches, wraps, and salads--well-made and reasonably priced. I can't comment to the quality of the alcoholic beverages. It's a simple, reliable routine for me. Park, go inside, order, eat, pay, leave. Enjoyable and satisfying. read more

My wife and I ended up here with our 2 small children by dumb luck. The place we had originally set out to turned out to be closed on Tuesdays and I found this place on Google. I had my wife call first on the way there just to make sure the kids would be okay. On the outside it looks like your typical dive bar, not somewhere I'd usually take my kids for dinner but I was starving. We were pleasantly surprised. The owner was super friendly and accommodating to the kids. We had the poutine, the bourbon burger and the den burger. Everything was good and well seasoned. They also had a pretty good craft beer selection. They had classic rock tunes on and it wasn't too loud in there so it was perfect for us. Basically, it's a bar. But a bar with the best French fry's I've ever had. Which means a lot because I'm a fry kind of girl. We both had the Den burger, mine with fries, my husbands with onion rings. And a small order of beer Mac and cheese. And every single bite was fantastic! The roll was a perfect size, not to think or to bready. And those fries! Man!! And that Mac and cheese is to die for! We popped in on Friday night because of their ratings for burgers. We weren't disappointed. We got there in time. Enjoyed the "fry basket" of fries and chicken tenders. The variety of sauces is what sets them apart. I had their signature burger and my friend had the Jam Burger, both were delicious. We sang along to the live guitar player as the Den filled up to be really busy and full by the time we left a little after 8. I had a glass of wine and my friend had an IPA that was recommended by Casey, bartender/waitress. Definitely needed a little more staff assistance. read more

My wife, son and I visited Glens Falls and decided to visit the Grateful Den. We were very impressed with the level of service and friendliness by both the owner and a patron. They were so welcoming and held great conversation. The positive reviews match the level of great tasting food. The Philly cheesesteak was savory in taste and very good. The garlic parm wings had just enough sauce and wasn't over powering. Super excited to finally find a place with good garlic parm boneless wings. We will definitely visit the Grateful Den again. If you are a beer person- this place is a MUST GO! 12 craft beer selections along with common domestic and import bottles. There is usually always a mixed drink special made with local liquors and some sort of fresh fruit. Not just a bar- children are also welcome at The Grateful Den. Menu includes child choices. Although the menu is limited, you are bound to find something you'll love. I recommend the pretzels and beer cheese and the short ribs and grits (YUM). When I asked the bartender/waitress why nothing vegan when they claim they do on yelp, and on thier website, the reply was, "yeah, we havent had any since summer". What an amazing find! They have a fantastically curated beer list featuring a lot of local brews from upstate New York. We came in on trivia night (Wednesday) and were treated to the most fun, lighthearted, and relaxing game night we could imagine (being from NYC we're used to loud and obnoxious trivia nights). My boyfriend and I stopped in for a happy hour on a Friday night.... We loved it! Great selection of beers, wines and liquor. Live entertainment and a great bartender. We had the pretzels and beer cheese for an app, pulled pork sandwich and buffalo chicken tacos all were delicious! My only "complaint" is the limited menu....
