Stopped in for lunch. Services is good. The sandwich I ordered toasted the bread was toasted. The meat was cold. There was a pile of meat in the middle of the sandwich and that was it. The food is just ok but expensive. Stay away from the kids chicken nugget meal, you get a whole 4 tiny nuggets. The cheese curds are a TINY portion for the price. The trump card is the service is terrible. The counter people just look at you like you're an inconvenience and don't even say hello or thank you. When they bring your food they just set it down and don't even acknowledge you even when you thank them. There is not a better place in Red Wing MN to get a good meal! This is the second time eating at this restaurant, and it has not disappointed me! When you come here, order the chicken and make sure it's hot. The hamburgers are real meat. You can have sweet potato fries or regular fries. I don't care too much for the whole wheat bun. The people are friendly, and the place is clean. If you are in search for a salad, then here is the place to go! They have a Salad bar, one visit only, and it will fill you up. They also have ice cream and cookies and other sweets. The menu is vast i'm kind of glad I did not order their Alfredo because I saw it on another ladies plate and it was watery. It was not sticking to the noodles so I dodged a bullet. Nice workers with a smile. What a change! Five staff all joking and talking while tables had food smears and not wiped down, windows looked like they had not been cleaned in years, salad bar had crusted food all around it and there was literally poop on toilet seat and floor of womens bathroom. " Chicken Chipotle Burrito Was So So " We went to Randy's Restaurant to try a Chicken Chipotle Burrito. SO people who live in Red Wing said it was the BOMB ! Well we are from San Diego where we have a Mexican Restaurant on every corner, so we wanted to see how the Burrito tasted. It was So So, not that good. I am giving Randy's a 4 due to quality of my meal and most especially the speed of service. I'd never been there before. I thought it was a sit down and get waited on type of restaurant but it turns out that it is counter service and you seat yourself like at a fast food restaurant. The menu has many more options than a fast food restaurant. I had the chicken dinner and it was quite good, included bread roll, mashed potatoes, arrived very quickly despite that they were very busy and had a line of cars at the drive through. Looks like they are very popular with the locals. I would have given it a 5 except the decor was quite outdated. read more

Why do people eat food from Kwik Trip or McDonald's? It's a legitimate question. Because they can't spare the 15 minutes it takes to get your food to go--even through the drive through--at Randys. Or more. For decades Randys had food prepared and ready to go when a customer ordered. Breakfast sandwiches, lunch, etc. Now 9 times out of 10 you will be waiting a long time for your food. People who only get a half hour for lunch now go to Kwik Trip or McDonalds. read more

Meh! Went here for dinner & wasnt impressed. Service was good & food arrived promptly but I asked the unsmiling blond kid @ the counter for a receipt & never got one. Old people were here which always mean cheap or good or sometimes both. I ordered the fried chicken which was quite good but my dining companion orders the exact same 3 piece dinner and gets these 3 hunking chicken breasts, and I get 2 small chicken legs & a thigh! WTF!? While Red Wing is a small town there are limited options for places to get fried chicken to go. Randy's has a variety of food options at a reasonable price, prompt service and everything is always fresh. We usually get their 4pc chicken tenders (for price comparison for us it's a little better than bone-in) combo for ~$10 which is enough for two people to split for dinner. Randys has been in red wing forever so I thought I should try it. It is set up like a culvers in the way you order at the counter, go sit down, and then when the food is ready they bring it to you. The menu is large and varied. Chicken,Burgers and a LOT more. I had the Hot Turkey Sandwich. It was so incredibly good!!!! If I had any complaint about it that would be it was to small. Cant wait to try this place again next time I am in red wing. It is not perfect but I totally recommend trying randys for a local fast and yummy place to eat. read more

We stopped here while on a business trip. When we got there one of the older employees was scolding one of the youngest ones at the counter in front of guests which is kind of awkward. Food was good, we got burgers, onion rings and fried chicken. My friend also got the salad bar, which didn't look very clean. The floors and bathroom weren't very clean looking either. read more

Was there years ago, chicken and mashed potatoes w gravy were good, but overrated...stopped in early afternoon a few days ago, had soup and salad bar....salad bar was not refreshed from lunch (the worst pickled beets ive ever had, but awesome blue cheese dressing), and the two soups we had, chicken dumpling and bean and ham, were absolutely two of the worst tasting soups we've ever had! Randy's is over rated by some of the locals. Just not this one! I hear people brag about the chicken. My experience with chicken on three separate occasions was bad. I found it to be dried out and without taste every time. I have tried the breakfasts and they are very reasonable and good enough to eat. Why did I try the chicken three times? I like to give a place the chance. This place just doesn't deserve high ratings for average to poor chicken when it's known for it's chicken. Meh. With family and was exploring town getting away from Minneapolis, thought would be nice to try what seemed like a hometown place. It's like a Hardee's when you order, they bring your food to your table. Brought the burgers right away but forgot the fries. Didn't see any options to order a combo meal but had to order burger fries and small drink separately. For one meal it was $10 for the add ons. I use to come here all the time but the last few times I have ordered the chicken tenders my tenders have been burnt. If it was once or twice I wouldn't have taken the time to right this review because I know it can be very demanding in the kitchen but it has been more times burnt then not burnt and that isn't ok in my book. Red Wing is a small town and when the people who live in this town keep getting burnt food they will stop going. Makes paying the higher prices not worth it either. Ordered the chicken family pack family meal. Chicken is always reliable but NOT cheap! Also ordered an extra fry and onion ring, drive 25 minutes unloaded to feed the family and...... you guessed it missing items called to let them know they asked if I'd come back, um, no I'm not driving another 50 minutes to get the food you forgot the first time!!! Oh my god this place is awful! There were ants next to my table eating scraps, the employees were awful as well, And the layout of the restaurant was confusing, the garbage was unclear and there was no bin. The woman who got me my mint ice cream -empasis on mint- grabbed a cone with a napkin. No gloves. Only a napkin. And poured vanilla ice cream into the cone, then poured it back into the ice cream dispenser! Then she proceeded to grab another cone and repeated this process, this time added mint flavoring on top of the vanilla ice cream and then added more vanilla onto it. I got the cone hesitantly from her, and it was running down the cone because she added too much. I then told her I didn't need a basket for the ice cream cone. I won and went to my seat. I looked down at the floor, and the ants were still there eating the scrap. Gross. I looked at the ice cream cone and was instantly mad. I asked for MINT ICE CREAM not VANILLA. There was 1 skirt of mint flavour and the rest was vanilla! I might have well have asked for vanilla, because that's what I got. Another thing was that the garbage didn't have a labeled bin, it was just a bunch of buckets, basically. I had a hard time understanding if it was a garbage or a tray holder or something. And overall the place was filthy. It was dirty and gross. The main issue was the lack of neatness. And that was it. I did not go in the bathrooms but my grandma said it was "ok" read more

I have been eating here, and supporting this place since I was a kid. The chicken is ok, not as good as hager heights 5 minutes away. The service is always TERRIBLE. The employees are crabby, and honestly disrespectful sometimes. I had come in with 3 friends, and we each ordered a large meal with extras, and it wasn't cheap for any of us. I had accidentally asked for it to be there, and not to go, but I needed it to go. I went back to the counter to the sweating, overweight, crabby 15 year old girl and asked for it to be to go. She yelled "Can you make this to go I guess? The guy just came up and asked for it to go!" in a sarcastic, childish way. The entire sweaty, burnt out crew laughed at her being really embarrassing and disrespectful to me, even an elderly employee. She angrily gave me back my order number, because I respectfully set it back down because I thought I didn't need it to get my food to go. All of the employees are ALWAYS terrible at their job, crabby, unimpressed, and out right disrespectful. This place is over rated by my peers by a long shot, and you need to explore more if you honestly think this is a good place to spend money and eat.
