We gave them many opportunities to get it right. We asked the owner to come for an inspection, they…read moresent the same crew each time instead. First off, almost all of the flooring was installed askew. We asked to not have nail hole mudding or calk, they did both, poorly. The owner was very pleasant and immediately sent his crew back out and fixed the flooring. The trim is another story. The edges are raw and ill fitting. They did a "reveal" on some doors and on others chose to cut around the hinge instead. All in all, after asking the owner to come inspect it himself twice, sent the same crew out, not to mention the mess they left after. The owner offered to send them out a 4th time, but it seemed that each time it was worse (dirtier, soiled carpet) when they left so we declined. Also, if you have your air conditioning on, all doors and windows hang WIDE OPEN the whole time. We did pay them and we did get a discount but it was by no means a cheap job. If you don't care about the details, give them a call. It will be done-ish.

Issues * Instead of taking two days to complete the job, it took nearly two months (8/26/2024 - 10/25/2024) to finally finish the job. * House of Carpets made repeatedly tried adding additional charges to the estimate, even though the Sales Rep (Tom), stated that everything was included within the initial quote. * As part of their service, House of Carpets was supposed to reinstall all the doors that they removed while putting in the new flooring, but the initial installer failed to return. He was the son of the Sales Rep (Tom). * Multiple installers had to come out to finish reinstalling trim and transitions pieces. Note - Some of the transition pieces were not ordered with the flooring, causing part of the two-month delay in completing the job. * The plastic trim on the bottom of our refrigerator was damaged by the initial installer. Also, when reinstalling the quarter round, he failed to realize the pocket door between our kitchen and laundry room. This caused a large scratch along the bottom of the pocket door when we tried to close it. * I had the owner, James Nelson, out to the house after the job was finally complete. After showing and explaining all the issues to him, we settled on a discounted amount. My wife paid this amount within days of my meeting with James, but it took House of Carpets nearly a month and two emails to finally receive an invoice showing a $0.00 balance. Someone within House of Carpets also added a highlighted to note to the invoice stating, "discounted accommodation voids all warranty". James and I never discussed the warranty, nor would I ever agree to this provision. If a warranty issue ever arises and House of Carpets fails to resolve the issue, my wife and I will have to find and HONEST flooring company or installer and sue House of Carpets.

I believe I contacted him on a Friday evening and he was able to get my couches picked up on Monday afternoon. Two couches sustained mold damaged while being in storage for almost 2 years, so we had to part with them. We left the couches inside our fenced-in yard. Jeremey came by, picked them up and let us know when he left. He accepts several different forms of payment; we happened to use Venmo. I recalled feeling a dip in one part of my carpet, so we cut a little hole and sure enough, there was the drain. John got to work, chiseling away at the concrete that was around the plug, and got it to open up. Then he had me flush all my toilets, and run my shower to make sure everything looked okay. He was very knowledgeable and very open to helping me in case something like this were to happen again and what to look for. We contacted them twice afterward to request they come back out, and were told, in essence, that we just needed to deal with it. To make matters worse, we were incorrectly charged twice and had to go through the hassle of addressing the billing error. For the price we paid, we expected professionalism, quality service, and accountability. Instead, we received none of the above. We cannot recommend this company and would strongly suggest others look elsewhere for carpet cleaning services. We will be reporting to the BBB

Rating not related to the service, but for the behavior displayed by one of their employees/drivers. This morning around 7:45am, while taking my daughter to school, we were on I-80 east bound heading out of Cedar Rapids and were almost run off the road by one of their workers. He first started tailgating us when we were already going over 70mph in the left lane with traffic in front of us, to which I slowed down to about 69mph because he was riding so closely. He didn't let up, so I will admit I flipped the bird, to which he then floored it over 80mph swerving and cutting me off ( he would have slammed into my daughters door with the trailer if I hadn't slammed on the breaks.) He then proceeds to, take the next exit, towards Swisher. Hopefully the floor install was worth the almost near death experience. He was in a Grey 2023/2024 Chevy Silverado blacked out alloy wheels, with a Randy's trailer attached, LIC Plate # IF 4086. The driver was a white male approx late 30's-40's, with beard, wearing a black baseball cap and hoodie. *photos provided below thanks to my wonderful 10 yr old. read more

We had expert care right from the start! Bridget helped me decide the best options for replacing my 14 yr old living room and master bedroom carpet. Both areas are very high traffic with my family and our 2 dogs. When the sample I originally picked was on back order, Bridget took the time to bring similar samples to my home so we could make a new selection. This personal attention was so unexpected, but very much appreciated. The crew that installed the laminate were excellent as well. They worked cleanly and thoughtfully paying extra attention to fine details. They were just great guys who worked very hard to make our floor look fabulous! It took awhile to receive our new kitchen flooring. With the tile on back order and the Coronavirus, we received our flooring about 2 months after we ordered it. We are very happy with it. I think any good reviews for him must have been shills by people he knows. I brought a relative with me to check out flooring samples because we were wanting to change out…read moreour carpet. We worked with Ben and it left a bad taste in my mouth when we left. He was a total smartass with me and made me feel like an idiot when I started asking questions about the waterproof aspect of the flooring we were looking at. I asked if this flooring was water-resistant and he told me no, so I said "So any amount water will damage it?" And he told me water will damage any floor when it reaches the floorboards. I told him I understand that but if I spill water on the floor will it seep through and he said "Well you just have to use common sense". When I asked about if the warranty was 20 years or lifetime he said it would be 20 years for me (I'm under 30) but it would outlast my relative so for her it would be considered lifetime (my relative was in her 50's). At some point in the conversation he started talking about another carpet store in Cedar Rapids that was owned by the "ay rabs" (Arabs), he kept talking about how he has no beef with them and saying they were constantly "smoked" because of how much weed they went through. I don't think he was trying to speak badly about anyone but for being a salesman he was an asshole and borderline racist. Not to mention the quote he gave us was almost $900 more than the next carpet store we went to (and they offered better flooring). The receptionist was the only pleasant person we spoke to who made really friendly small talk as we waited for Ben to make copies. All in all I would not recommend this store
