I like classic donuts, and that's what Randy's Donuts is known for. The warm airy Krispy Kremes are nice once in awhile, and Sidecar is a luxurious treat that is in a class of its own. But when I want a donut, the good old-fashioned glazed donut at Randy's hits the spot. They self-proclaim that they have not changed their classic recipe and never will. That's the type of donut I crave. Good to see that Randy's has been expanding and now has convenient locations in many popular and touristy areas in LA . They are like a modern day Winchell's or Dunkin' but better. They are also a good alternative to the often questionable local donut shops that you might wonder about their quality and freshness. read more

Located off Rosecrans in El Segundo/Manhattan Beach. It shares the parking with Shake Shack, Tender Greens and a coffee place. Parking is very limited and there are signs posted with restrictions. I do believe you can park in the structure next to this area not sure on the restrictions or if you have to pay. This place is only opened from 6am to 7pm everyday. This place is really small one table and bar top tables along the wall. There is outdoor seats and tables. They do serve breakfast donut sandwiches type and beverages. I got my usual Devil's Food donut along with a crumb cake donut. Overall I'd stop here if in area and craving a donut just make sure it's within the hours they are opened. read more

To be honest, we were in the plaza for Shake Shack when we decided to check out Randy's while waiting for our pick up order. At first glance you would think it was just your typical donut shop but upon further inspection you'll find a treasure trove of sweet concoctions. Randy's has your simple variety of glazed donuts, bear claws, chocolate bars, crullers, and twists but what most people will be interested in are their premium offerings. From blueberry donuts with blueberry glaze (our favorite) to matcha donuts and fruity pebble raised donuts, there are a lot to chose from. If you're looking for something savory instead of sweet, Randy's offers a great selection of breakfast sandwiches and croissants. Unfortunately not all of Randy's donuts were a home run like their blueberry glazed blueberry donut. While the classics were great, the same can't be said about their fancy options. The Matcha Donut didn't have any matcha flavor, the fruit pebble's cereal on the fruity pebble raised was stale, and the sugar crondy was flat instead of flaky. The shortcomings could easily be attributed to the timing of when we got our order in the early afternoon. That said, at the low price point and convenience of it being next to our closest Shake Shack, we'll definitely give it another try to see if we just got an older batch. read more

Having been to the original location for years, I was uber excited that Randy's opened their new location close to my place. Knowing that the morning weekend hours would be crowded, I deliberately stopped by on a Sunday afternoon. Parking was horrible, mainly because there are other eateries in the same plaza. It took 15 minutes to find a spot. Plan accordingly. I walked in and my guess was right. It was empty. The store is quite small with limited seating. There are two large glass displays full of delicious looking donuts. What I struggled with, however, was the cleanliness of this place. It felt like a hospital. Those of you who've been to the original location will definitely notice the contrast. The original location is basically a drive-thru/walk-up shop while this location seems to be trying too hard to be an upscale donut shop (e.g., Sidecar). In any event, I ordered a couple of donuts. A glaze, maple cruller, and apple fritter. The maple cruller was dense and not airy and light as expected. Unfortunately, it disappointed. The glaze was mediocre. Not soft and spongy as I have consistently experienced at their Inglewood location. It tasted stale. With the limited parking and the disappointing donuts, I'll have to continue to drive Inglewood to get my Randy's fix. read more

Randy's donuts is so fun! They are very busy too. You can get basic donuts or you can get fancy donuts - like bacon maple, churro, fruity pebbles, fruit loops, red velvet, long johns with custard, smores, HUGE donut holes....you get the point yes? If you do come here, come earlier in the day. In the evening the selection goes down. They also have milk, juice, coffee. Sometimes there's a line but most of the time I've been able to get in and out fairly quickly. Also, parking in the morning in this lot is ok, in the afternoon and evening it's crazy due to the other restaurants that are there too - Philz, Shake Shack, Tender Greens, etc..... read more

There's good and bad to Randy's Donuts opening a new location so close to my work. The good: Access to tasty and creative donuts. The bad: Eating too many donuts will eventually impact your health. The interesting: How many donuts that actually is...well, that's up to you. Randy's Donuts is a local LA icon...glad to have them in the newest area of the Rosecrans corridor. Right there with Shake Shack, Philz Coffee, Tender Greens, and the Mexican place that's about to open. Randy's is a pretty small spot, get in, get your donuts (by the dozen please) and get out. Only 4-5 bar style chairs and not a lot of space to hang out. I am only giving 4 out of 5 stars here because Randy's Roast coffee is pretty weak and one should go next door to Philz and acquire coffee before procuring the Randy's Donuts. Sorry not sorry...you've got top notch coffee next door, take advantage of that relationship and have Randy and Philz offer some kind of combos or joint sales thingy. Not a sermon, just a thought. I'm a big fan of donuts and was super excited to finally try Randy's considering I always see the giant donut off the freeway when I'm driving through LA. Sadly, I was pretty disappointed in my experience. I arrived around 6am on a weekday and they barely had any donuts ready, so the selection was minimal. I didn't see any of the seasonal or more unique offerings in the case, so I settled on a maple donut. Normally, I love maple donuts, but this particular one was weird because they put maple glaze on top of a cake donut instead of a traditional glazed, so the donut was extremely dense and crumbly, instead of soft and fluffy. The portion size was also really small, which was a bit disappointing, considering the pricing is higher here than your average donut shop. The service was also just meh, considering the employee threw the two donuts we ordered into one bag and automatically assumed we were going to the same place when we weren't! I was a bit taken aback by how presumptuous she was and then slightly disgusted when she threw back on a crumpled up glove to then move one of the donuts into a separate bag. I wish I could say it was a better experience, but in all fairness...maybe I just visited too early in the day, so neither the donuts, nor the staff was on top of their game? Who knows. read more

I love all things mint. So when I saw a mint donut here I had to buy it. A mint donut is a "premium" donut so it cost $2.95 for one. Was it worth it? HECK YES! The donut was huge and the mint toppings were delicious. FYI - the mint chocolate on top is Andes. Oh so minty! The toppings were very sweet but it was a perfect combination with the dough. I shared it with my husband after a meal next door. The employees are nice and they are quick to serve. There isn't much seating inside so I feel like it's more of a grab and go type place. Ok. I've lived in LA/LB all my life and I've never had a Randy's donut - don't even judge me. I was in the area for lunch and I stumbled upon Randy's. I tried not to go in but I had no choice. They have the donuts all lined up so pretty and all I could smell was deliciousness as I walk by and I'm not that strong. So I came in and the situation got worse. I wanted ALL of the donuts. Every single last one of them. I mean WTF is going on here!! Lol they leave you with no choice but to want to buy everything. I digress. I opted for my favorites and added some twist with the maple bacon and the glazed raised amazingness. So far I've taken one bite out of the buttermilk bar and dear God. It had to have fell from heaven. It's crispy on the outside and soft as clouds on the inside. It's weird because I like my donuts soft. These were soft but with a slight crunch on the outside. It changed how I looked a donuts forever. My new favorite place to get donuts but it will definitely be a twice a year visit. Stopped by on a Saturday about 10 minutes before closing and there were about a dozen people in line. Still the ordering and checkout moved so fast we were out in about 5 minutes! Even hustling to move everyone through the staff was patient and friendly. The selection was only about half the display case but they were almost closed so that's to be expected. The important thing is that they had what I wanted; Maple Bar w/ Bavarian Cream Filling & Plain Glazed. Both were so yummy! Just as good as the ones I grew up eating at original Randy's on Manchester :) Even this late in the day the shop was clean and the donuts were fresh! What more could you ask?!? Swinging by Randy's for a bacon maple bar is a guilty pleasure of mine. This morning, I went around 9:15AM to pick up donuts for my coworkers birthday and I picked up a bacon maple bar for myself. Unfortunately it did not taste fresh but seemed like it may have been a day old. Usually they are incredibly delicious and melt in your mouth, but today's tastes different. This review is for the El Segundo location only. Stopped by here on a whim on my home thinking they weren't open yet as I couldn't get into the Elite event for tonight and guess what?! They were open!! Wooohoo!! Parking is around the back side and is probably impossible on busy mornings so I was glad I came here on an afternoon (don't judge, I don't get doughnuts everyday). Small offshoot of the original, but more upscale. Service was friendly and helpful and the lines went fast. I got the churro and red velvet donut. They have two kinds of doughnuts: fancy and plain. So, depending on what you get and how many, the price you pay will vary. The churro was crispy and crunchy and soft on the side of the doughnut even at 2 in the afternoon. The churro pieces on top were slightly stale, but understandable considering the time of day it was. The Red velvet was sweet and doughy and I loved that one the most. A good impression for my first visit here. The place was clean, but small. Service was quick, efficient and friendly. I can see myself coming out here for a doughnut if I'm in the area. I get it you want to go visit the BIG DONUT and take a picture; it's definitely a staple here in Los Angeles. However, for the locals let the tourist have the big donor experience. There are now two other locations one being in El Segundo and the other being in Century City. I had an opportunity to visit this location in El Segundo location and just to let you know the recipe is the same. I have heard so many people say they feel like the donuts are better on Manchester. I can't tell the difference, I feel like the recipe is the same and the donuts are spectacular! Also, enjoy that there is no long waits. Don't buy into people telling you they are different. I think that Randy's has done a very good job making sure you still get the same experience and the same BIG DONUT as the one on Manchester. These donuts are definitely a must! read more

So excited that this place opened! Still haven't gone to the original but this will do for now!! This place, Apollo in general, is so aesthetically pleasing and I love the chill outdoor area between Philz and Randy's! We came when the line was short and got some of their signature ones plus one of their seasonal: a churro donut. We got the blueberry without glaze, blueberry with glaze, churro and roasted coconut raised donut (like a girl scout samoa cookie) and they were all so good!! I loved the blueberry even without the glaze and the coconut one legit tasted like a donut version of samoa !! These donuts are also so worth the price!! They cook their donuts fresh everyday until 2pm so I definitely gotta 1) come back here and get some fresh ones and 2) go try some at the original Randy's!!! read more

It had "been a minute" since I'd been to a Randy's location. When visiting SoCal, we are not very close to one and I always thought it was best/convenient to go to a local donut shop for basic donut varieties. This time, however, we were staying in El Segundo and decided to drop by their spot since we were getting coffee @ Philz next door. To my surprise, Randy's also offers specialty donuts. Lemon old-fashioned? Matcha raised? What's a Crondy? And, oh man their Maple Bacon Long John is the perfect fix for us bacon junkies! Got a chocolate cronut. It is HUGE. And it was so so good. So buttery, flaky, sweet. It has a glazed topping and a chocolate drizzle. The chocolate was not overpowering and I probably would have enjoyed a bit more chocolate flavor. My friend and I got the buttermilk and Ube donut. The buttermilk donut was plain and slightly messy to eat due to all of the toppings (powdered sugar and such) falling apart each bite. The Ube donut with cream cheese frosting was not bad. It had a slight Ube taste but the cream also gets everywhere. Oh, I love Randy's! I'll say that I'd really never heard of Randy's until probably a year ago when they opened the location at the Westfield in Century City. Came across this location today when I was looking for a morning snack in the area. Some positives: - No line at 10:30 am on a Sunday (whoa!) - Almost every type of donut you could ever want - Great quality! I really love the blueberry iced cake. I never thought I would like a blueberry donut.. but surprise! It's my go to at Randy's. Also had to try a red velvet today, too. LA people are always desperately trying to hype up LA stuff. So you can never really trust residents' reviews. I lived in LA for 25 years and just tried Randy's today. The donuts were very fresh and good. Not mind-blowing but good if you eat donuts. Definitely more dense than Krispy Kreme but just as soft. Teenage staff who are learning the ropes. I like when businesses give teens a chance to work. I don't eat donuts much but I may return some day. (I am much more a boozhee bakery kind of gal.) My all time favorite donuts! This location is right off Rosecrans near Shake Shack and Tender Greens. I used to work near here and it was relatively often that someone would bring in Randy's donuts on a Friday and I was so impressed with how soft and non greasy the donuts felt. I love chocolate glaze donuts and what's amazing about Randy's donuts is that they actually taste like chocolate and not just a sweet sugary glaze. Even just a simple glaze donut here is melt in your mouth perfection! On a recent visit back to the area I brought my mom who also agreed it was wonderful! The only donut I've had here that wasn't my favorite was the raised matcha, but I think that's more a reflection of how I feel about matcha on a donut than anything to do with Randy's donuts perfection! read more
