She is patient and kind as she walks you through the design process and answers your (inevitable) many questions each step of the way. We worked with her to redesign three spaces in our home: our kitchen, and two bathrooms. With each space, she found ways to approach them in new and practical ways when we felt otherwise overwhelmed. She guided us through choosing stunning finishes, and we received so many compliments from contractors and friends alike along the way. We had never done a remodel - and now, being on the other end of the process, we don't know where we would have been had we not had her detailed designs to guide us all along the way. Whenever questions arose, it was invaluable to have something so concrete to refer to, and we can't recommend this approach enough for anyone considering a remodel.

My friends love color, and the designers worked with them to take out a couple of walls, merge the dining area, and turn a closed L-shaped kitchen into an open festive space with yards of counter space, walls of cabinets, and easy seating for twelve! Did my friends love working with Seriously Happy Homes? Totally! Do they love the result? Absolutely!

We had an exceptional experience working with Gwen to fully furnish our new home in Mount Baker…read more From the start, she was incredibly thoughtful in her approach--incorporating art we had already collected and using our existing dining table as a centerpiece to ground the design. She built everything out from there in a way that felt cohesive, elevated, and still deeply personal to us. Her communication, efficiency, sourcing, and design aesthetic are truly outstanding. She handled a large, complex project with impressive speed and attention to detail, and the end result exceeded our expectations. What stands out most is how livable and enjoyable the space is. We've hosted many gatherings since moving in, and both we and our guests consistently appreciate the design. We've received countless compliments from friends and family, and it's genuinely a pleasure to experience her work every day. We wouldn't hesitate to work with Gwen again and are already looking forward to the opportunity!

In early 2021, I found myself moving from a 1 bedroom condo to 4 bedroom newly constructed home…read more Needless to say, the place was empty and the furniture that I did have was a poor fit with the design and style of my new house. I found Gwenn on an internet search. I interviewed a few other designers but hired Gwen after her receiving her detailed follow-up email from the initial visit. In that email she clearly articulated a vision for how my house should be furnished and accessorized. I was sold: "Based on what I gathered from you and your home, I imagine the design of your space would fall somewhere in the realm of warm contemporary, comfy, understated but a touch swanky, masculine, PNW natural / rustic. Neutral and subdued colors, varied natural textures, layered and homey, soulful. Furnished with timeless and quality elements that could work in future homes too." Gwen has executed on the vision perfectly all the while taking my feedback and taste into consideration. Gwen selected furniture, carpets, lighting, art, plants, and décor for my office, living room, bonus room, master bedroom, kitchen, outdoor patio, and hallways. She helped me accessorize my kitchen with all new cookware, knives, silverware, gadgets, etc. Saying that Gwen selected all of these items does not do justice to her work. The pieces selected were of the highest quality. Quality observable to the eye and to the touch. Most the pieces selected are themselves a work of art that give me joy just to look at daily. Some of the pieces were custom made to be the perfect fit for the space. Gwen found the craftspeople and helped design these custom pieces. Gwen was a consummate professional throughout the entire process. She did all the coordination of ordering and deliveries. Gwen found electricians to install the lighting and spent all day here making sure that a custom light fixture was installed. Her punctuality is something that I must comment on because when she told me that she would be at my house at a certain time I could set my watch to her arrival. I sincerely appreciated this punctuality because I believe it speaks volumes to how she cares about her clients and her craft. All of this work and sourcing was during COVID shutdowns when lead times on furniture exploded which made the project more difficult. All of the accounting and billing was online and easily accessible. In summary, Gwen designed the spaces in my home in a way that bring a smile to my face ever day. She did all of the work and minimized the amount of effort needed by me. I couldn't be happier with the result.

They provided guidance, creativity, and follow-up every step of the way. Their computer-generated kitchen plans and visual images were very helpful in assuring us that the design they described is what we wanted and in the price range we were looking for. Adrian was our assigned on-site contractor. He was phenomenal to work with. His knowledge, skill, reliability, and "easy-to-work-with" personality made the process from demo to project signoff a smooth and stress-free experience. Adrian and Vered never let any unforeseen or unexpected situation alter or delay project progress. They worked together to offer solutions and resolution in a timely manner. Adrian and one or two other helpers did most of the work themselves, so we were never waiting on subcontractors. The project started on time and finished on schedule. We could not have been more pleased with the results. We are very happy to have selected Lux Design Builds and highly recommend them for your upcoming remodel.

Emily comes at design from the perspective of an artist trained in colors. I hired her 15 years ago to select colors for the interior of an older Scandinavian-style home that had always had off-white walls. She spent a great deal of time looking at my favorite paintings, furniture, and exterior landscaping before proposing a basic color for my environment. She then offered me options for other colors for other rooms, plus a trim and ceiling color that would work throughout the house. I had my interior painted in the colors (and paint brand) she recommended. It's not only beautiful, but it has also maintained its classic look over the years. This year (2022) I had Emily back to do exterior colors for my home. She listened carefully to my requests--I wanted to stick with gray with white trim. She then proposed a far more pleasant gray, a subtly richer white, and a sharper, more distinctive accent color for the doors. It's wow! Her work takes the house from bland and generic to striking. Emily is very focused in her work, and her intense style is not for everyone. She is also unwilling to work around pets. You'll have to decide if you are willing to accommodate her approach. My take on it is that the end products (her expert, thoughtful color recommendations) have taken me out of a play-it-safe, generic approach and into a distinctive style that has added vastly to the value of my home. I enjoy the collaborative color selection process. If you are comfortable with her work style, I believe you'll get a lot of value.

Although one of Seattle's top designers, #1 for 2007, Paula doesn't require her clients to have seven figures in the bank. Certainly, she has done amazing projects for some of the most affluent people in Seattle, but many of those she works with are regular folks, like me. I had some family antiques, plus artifacts, pictures, and carpets from my travels. My placement, though adequate, didn't make them shine. What I wanted was an American apartment with global pizzazz. Paula came over and we went through every room and inventoried what I had. She suggested an accent wall for focus and to make the room look larger, and then, a shelving unit, to add storage and places for pieces from my various collections. When that was accomplished, Paula came over, and within the space of a hour or so, as if she had a magic wand in her hand, she turned haphazard into "hubba hubba", rooms that are a treat to move through and live in. I can't recommend her enough.

Brilliant's approach looked significantly more customized, and that's exactly what we needed to highlight key features in our home. Meeting Kate during the initial consult, it was clear that this was THE staging company we needed. She noted so many details throughout the house and yard, offered a wide variety of design suggestions, and was already thinking through strategies for each room. They were able to accommodate our need to still live in the house (with a dog), and their pricing was extremely competitive. Every dollar spent had an amazing return. Though we knew their team would do a superb job, we were still completely blown away by how the house presented when they were done! Colors, textures, wall art, furniture and rug selection, and even angles of decor all worked cohesively to make our house inviting for all who toured. We know that market timing had a lot to do with our listing's high interest, but we're absolutely certain that Brilliant Staging's work was what captured these numerous buyers' interest, first in the online photos and video, then in person when they toured, and hours and days later for the multiple buyers who loved imagining themselves in our house and prepared to write their offer.
