It's an understatement to say Jose does a fantastic job: He's a magician! We wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking to redo/install flooring. Here's what we had done: removal of super old carpet and installation of new flooring, plus matching and refinishing existing hardwood (30 years old). Here's why I am SO glad we chose Jose at Mythical Hardwood Floors. *Of all the people I called, he was the first to call back and follow up. He met us quickly, got us an estimate within a day, and had us scheduled as soon as he could. He also called a couple days prior to confirm and let us know what the process would look like again. For me, the first points of contact indicate someone's work ethic and conscientiousness. Five stars here. *When we met with him initially, he took time to explain things, talk about options and longer term impact of certain choices, and suggest possibilities. (Instead of just measuring, leaving, and taking forever to send an estimate, which is what the another provider did.) You can tell that Jose cares about what he's doing. He only does one project at a time, so you're the focus 100%. *In the demolition phase, Jose was super safety conscious. Reminding us to wear shoes and watch out for nails/debris, but he also cleaned up every night, moving his tools into a tidy corner or the garage and sweeping/vacuuming up any dust, etc. Very much appreciated as we were still living in the house through the process. *Jose solved surprise problems in stride, suggested improvements in the project as he went along, and was always honest and forthcoming about how long things would take and what could be done. (Our floors had water damage and excessive pet urine in the subfloor from the previous residents, and Jose took care of it all.) *Throughout the whole process, he worked amazingly hard. He always had a goal for the day and met that goal for most of the project. (Our previously mentioned issues slowed the process for a couple days, but that was not his issue.) He has his system down, and you can tell that he's been doing this for years. When you hire Jose, we also recommend doing the whole house. We initially only had planned to do the main floor, but added the stairs and upstairs hallway. Halfway through the project, we decided to add the upstairs bedrooms too. We should have planned to do everything from the start. Our new floors are SO beautiful! Working with Jose was a breeze. He's extremely thorough and a lovely person as well. If it wasn't clear that he goes over and above, on the last day of the project, he brought us a gift! (I won't say what it was so I don't spoil it for future clients.) Extremely thoughtful. Always positive, honest, and caring, Jose is truly a superstar with a wonderful work ethic and exceptional skill. We had another contractor come in before and give a few ideas, the least of which (which may not have worked) was quite costly. Brian was responsive to my initial email and when he visited our home to discuss our issues, he was patient and knowledgeable. He made a couple of very rational suggestions including a new sump pump bucket and how to seal the walls. On top of that, his pricing was fantastic! We then decided to ask him to put in the new basement shower (again, reasonably priced). Each day we returned home after work, we could see the considerable progress he had made not to mention how tidy everything was.
