Dropping it down a star as the noise has become excessive from other apartments the walls are thin. Management is doing all they can but it's not their fault but they need to use better quality materials to prevent noise from traveling. It's a wonderful location and the staff is responsive and friendly. Staff hosts at least two events monthly so you can get to know your neighbors. Rents are high but the building is very nice. On the downside, lease terms are very restrictive. After your first lease is over you must sign an additional lease and month to month would be hundreds more per month. It's hard to predict exactly when you may need to move and it can be expensive. read more

I really enjoyed living at The Maverick for the past three years since it is a pretty central location (close to freeways and airport) and has a lot of local restaurants in walking distance, but living at The Maverick definitely had its downfalls.. The leasing staff was GREAT before the new staff cycled in.. When I first moved to this property, the property manager and leasing staff was on it! They had great community events and was extremely friendly to the residents/guests. Since the change of staff, I seen a significant decline of service from the leasing staff. As for the property manager (Lindsey), she was not friendly and always had an attitude when I interacted with her.. Especially after moving out of The Maverick, I contacted Lindsey regarding some questions on the cleaning fee and utility bill. But instead of explaining the charges like a normal person, she gave me one word answers and rushed me off the phone.. I hope she isnt this rude to all previous residents. The security is nothing but a joke at The Maverick.. When I firsted moved to the property, I was told that there would be security patrolling every night (especially since there is a homeless encampment right outside the building) but within my three years living at The Maverick, I've seen a security guard/patrol car less than a handful of times. During the time I lived at this property, I had my car broken into while it was inside of the parking garage and the storage locker was broken into twice. The maintence team deserves 5 stars (if it wasnt for the maintence staff, this review would have been 1 star)! These guys seriously ROCK and needs a significate pay raise! Whenever I submitted an maintenence request, it was either checked or fixed within two days. I dont want to talk too much about rent increases since this happens everywhere, but I will say, my monthly lease for an open one-bedroom (when I first moved in) was $1690 and my new monthly lease (before I moved out) was supposed to be $2075 for the same open one-bedroom.. Overall, I would not move back to The Maverick.. Its a great location but thats about it.. read more

A terrible place to live if youre really sensitive to noise. Even with the quiet hour rule of 10 pm to 8 am, these hours became just brush offs to most people in this community. We have lived here for 2 years. First year we were here, it was great. Neighbors around us were respectful, community was friendly, and management was attentive and helpful. Our last year living became a nightmare. For 4 hours straight, between the hours of 8 pm to midnight, or for hours on end, the people below us would slam their cabinets and doors constantly. We have complained about this to management before and they have reminded them of the rule, but to no avail, they continue. They recommended we take videos and we did but to them they believed they were just living their everyday lives. It was terrible because literally at 8 am you would hear the loudest sounds to wake you up. So it became a war. We would slam, they would slam right afterwards. If it was completely silent and we shut some cabinets, they would start slamming. It was the petty type of stuff that was unnecessary. On my last week of living here, i stomped constantly. From the early hours to the late hours. They eventually shut up but the price was security was called. Of course management never could do anything about it because nobody is able to get kicked out. We even asked if they could be moved, but they were not allowed.I dont blame management for not being able to do anything because of the banning of evicting residents. However, even before the ban was put in effect, just a simple phone call was all they ever did. They did understand why we stomped, hence they never told us to stop. To the people below us, good riddance. To management, thanks. Now here are the pros and cons of living here. Pros: - all modern appliances and modern looking place - the community is nice - there is security fob on your door, security remote to get into your garage, and security fob to get into the building - security cameras in the hallways, garage, and all around outside the building - free theater inside for you to reserve for up to 4 hours. Inside the theater they provide a microwave, trash cans, and a huge TV that you can connect your own computer into to play video games or watch your own streaming service movie/show - benefits for residents such as community coffee provided some mornings or summer theater nights - right in the heart of downtown Burien so around tons of food and activities for convenience Cons: - thin walls - a bit tight garage spots where sometimes neighbors would park over your line in front of you or next to you - homeless people all around - management depending on who you get read more

If I could give this crappy place ZERO stars I would. Worst apartment I have lived in. The management does nothing all day. They would notify me of things they were doing last minute. Window washing? A day before they would send an email. Testing the alarms? They would notify me a day before. Coming into my apt? No email sent. I don't know what these people do all day. They are very unwelcoming as well. Always chatting and laughing at their desks all day. Once, the alarm kept going off and it was clearly not due to an alarm. I checked my emails to see if they had informed us of this happening. Nothing was sent. I had to call and inquired about why the alarms were going off and I was told that the restaurant down stairs was testing their alarms and ours were being activated as well? Why couldn't they send us an email if they knew this would be going on ?! Also they had people breaking into the parking lot all the time! People stealing bikes and breaking into cars. Nothing was being done to prevent this from happening. Also, the recycling bin was all the way in the parking lot. I had to carry big items to the recycling bin all the time and sometimes the bin was very full or locked! Packages were sometimes lost!!! I lost several packages here. I don't know what was happening. Was the staff taking my packages? Who knows. You would sometimes see some undesirables walking around the apartment complex as well! Thankfully the police station was across the street! The elevators were always breaking down. Once I got stuck in the elevator with my friend. The firefighters had to be called so they could open up the elevator. The halls always smelled like weed. Also, the new maintenance guy is a total dick. He was and totally rude. Glad I moved out of here. No way was I going to keep giving this crappy apartment my money. Neighbors were not nice at all! Very rude and they would never make eye contact! The only good thing about this apartment was that it was located right across from the Bartells. I was able to walk to the store whenever I wanted. I moved to Seattle to a lovely apartment complex with welcoming and competent staff. Don't make the same mistake I did!! Don't move here. read more

Seedy neighborhood, lots of break-ins, management is focused on trying to get people to sign a lease but refuse to address obvious lapses in safety. Non-residents frequently enter the building via parking garages, then have access to the entire building, including all floors. We were contacted by management once to tell us the security features that were in the building before pillar bought them- would not be put back on. Upon moving out we sent multiple emails to not only the district manager, but our building manager and the @info address provided to residents. No respond from management no one contacted us about move out walk through. Also conducted a pre move out walk through while we were not there and never told us that was the reason for entry. Both problematic employees we complained about after these issues occurred - went on vacation together. Probably why no one contacted us and no one from cooperate or main office contacted us. read more

These are by far one of the most mismanaged apartments I have ever lived in. The hallways smell of weed and cigarettes. There is trash all over the place. You can hear everything your neighbors are doing. So if you happen to live next or under someone that does not work and is up all night wrestling elephants and riding horses in their apartments good luck. When you go complain about not being able to sleep management just writes it off as normal living noises. For some reason all the air vents are connected so when your neighbor is scared of vampires and roasts garlic every night enjoy having your apartment smell like a garlic bread factory. The best thing is that it connects to your dryer so your clothes will also smell of little Italy. I don't think they screen some of their tenants very well. There are wild parties and loud music at all given hours in the day. I see eviction notices all the time. They also increase all their prices drastically. Parking went from $50 to $75 and storage from $40 to $80. We have been shopping around for apartments and these prices are about as high as they are in the city and I have no idea why read more

I lived in the building for 3 years, and can confidently say that as a renter, The Maverick, is a great community to live in. Not only is it centrally located in the area, but the people and the management team do a great job with communication and keeping the building clean and safe. Even when I was moving out due to changes in my living situation, I worked with the team and the VP of the property, and they were all very understanding and guided me through the whole process with as fewer hiccups as possible. It's no surprise that there's hardly any availability in the building as there's really no need to move out unless you absolutely have to. read more

This is my own experience and privilege speaking, but I found that since Pillar Properties took over and a new tenant moved into the unit above me, my experience living at the Maverick improved towards the end of my stay. I finally had quiet neighbors above and beside me, and though I dealt with the occasional smell of weed (this is a nonsmoking property) and worried about break-ins in the garage (Burien is still sketchy at times), I found the staff attentive and proactive. They held themselves accountable when they messed up or missed something, particularly during the most current events. Given that I now live in a HUGE complex in LA where the staff only cares about you when they want your money, don't know your name or care, I have to stay that I was very lucky to live at The Maverick! read more

It is very noisy! I can hear everything the person above and next to me does. I can even hear the person two apartments up from me. When you walk around the complex the noise coming from some of the apartments is so loud you can hear it all the way down the floor. A lot of the people here are very inconsiderate. They listen to loud music, let their dogs bark none stop,and let their kids run wild in the hallways. I have never lived in a place as noisy as this one. You can smell everything that your neighbors are cooking. My place smells like garlic and onions every other day. On multiple occasions I walked out and the whole hallway smelled like cigarette smoke. When I moved in my apartment it was definitely not move in ready. The dishwasher was not installed and a lot of things needed to be fixed. The appliances are also very cheap and make a lot of noise. Especially the dishwasher. The leasing office is not very organized and some of the agents don't know what they are talking about. There is no notification process when you get a package. In my old apartment complex they send you an email when something arrived. I had a gift that was delivered which had perishable items in it and they never notified me although it states that it is perishable on the box. The location is horrible. There are a lot of homeless and crazy people walking around the neighborhood. It very close to the main bus station where a lot of questionable people hang out. The other day a random person knocked on my door and stayed in front of it for like 10 mins and then sat down in the hallway. You need a key to come in the building but one of the doors just opens even without it. I am not to sure they have onsite security. If they do I was never provided a number for them or emergency repairs. read more

Since moving here in July, the staff at The Maverick has been amazing! Any questions that I have had are answered right away. Take the time to get to know them because they really are great. I rarely hear the people upstairs or below. They make it real easy to rent out the club or theater room. The staff works hard to make sure the place is clean and in tact. I loved living in the Maverick, the best apartment experience I have had in the five places I've lived while in the Seattle area. Great location in downtown Burien with tons of restaurants and stores within walking distance. Perfect if you need to be in between Seattle and Tacoma and close to the airport. The staff from the leasing agents downstairs to the maintenance crew are top notch and get it done while being incredibly friendly. Kudos to Pillar for not jacking rents up after Covid for new leases and offering nice options for those who sign a second lease, would of stayed but moved out of area. read more

This is a beautiful property that is walking distance to several great restaurants. The on-site leasing and service teams are amazing. They are always happy to assist with any request you have. The community is kept in great condition and their gym is spacious with any type of fitness equipment you need to stay healthy. We love the Maverick ! We have lived here for nearly 15 months and love the walkability to Be Yoga Burien, the Point, Burien Press Coffee and many other hot spots ! My pups love all the sniffs and places to explore and play around the neighborhood .. also we love how wonderful the leasing agents are- always helpful and so kind to us . I love living here. I feel safe in the building and the staff is great. We take advantage of the amenities frequently. We really enjoy the club room and the grills outside. We've naturally had some service issues that need taking care of, and maintenance is always quick to get back and take care of us. The staff here is a great group of people whom I have found to provide friendly, professional service. Maintenance issues, however minor, are taken care of promptly. Indoor, secure parking is an option, although there are available parking spots in the vicinity for visitors. This is the best apartment I have lived in! The apartment building is very clean and well maintained. There are employees working late at night, mopping the floors and cleaning the elevators. The location is great, close to transit and many stores. I have only lived here a few months and haven't had any issues. Brittany, the Assistant Property Manager, is very responsive in emails, and all the staff I have encountered has been very friendly. The open one bedroom is spacious and has lots of storage. The staff is very nice when trying to rent the homes, but once they get you in look out! The floors are made of an engineered hardwood and they allow large pets, so people below can make unrealistic noise complaints. You will be harassed by your neighbors and staff if you have a large dog and are in a upper unit! read more

*Update 8/3/18* This update is 2 weeks after my apartment was sprayed. The maintenance manager had called me during the time my apartment was sprayed and after to follow up, which was awesome of him. I was told it would take about 7 to 10 days to see results. When I came home, everything looked in order except there were splotches left along on the base board but not messy. There are still some centipedes outside my door but they seem to die before coming inside. Although the centipedes may not be completely gone from the apartment home itself, it appears to be gone/dying off inside my apartment. Overall, I am very happy with the service I received to rectify this issue and I am much more comfortable in my home!!! read more

This apartment is great location and walk score wise. However, I think they need to realize they are NOT a Seattle apartment complex therefore they should NOT be charging Seattle rates for tiny apartments and parking spaces. The parking garage costs way too much for Burien. Their parking spot rates run the same as the apartments in Downtown. They amenities are OK but very inconvenient hours for the theater. There's a spoke shop that is honestly just a waste of space and could be better utilized as something else. I don't think I've ever seen a soul in that "bike shop." Another inconvenience is the office hours. Most people work 9-5 and it takes them some time to get home. If you need to retrieve a package after they're closed, you're just SOL. They should come up with a system or text/email you asking if you want it delivered to your apartment if they aren't going to be there to get the package for you after 6PM. I find this extremely annoying. The apartment itself is decent, new, and clean. But not "luxury" as it states. From talking to other neighbors, a lot of us were out of hot water for some time due to a boiler issue. It would've been nice to be given notice from the Leasing Office that this was going to be a long fix, but instead, I didn't know something was wrong throughout the building until I called the maintenance guy. He was very condescending when I asked him what the issue was. He claimed the "strong winds" knocked out the boiler. I think he assumed I was an idiot and didn't know how a boiler worked....but unless you have a boiler sitting outside on the rooftop, the "wind" has nothing to do with a hot water boiler. What a joke. Overall, the apartment itself is OK but not worth the high price tag, especially with the parking rate increase. Remember where you're located, it's still Burien with Burien incomes. You can gentrify the neighborhood but you can't gentrify our incomes! read more

I lived in Capital Hill for 14 years because I was close to work, at Seattle Central College; my rent started out at $750 for a one bedroom, secured parking, and close to restaurants and bars. In short, my rent was scheduled to jump to $1900 a month! What!!? 40 year old building! I could not find a nice new spot within five miles! New one bdr's on The Hill, Ballard, Queen Anne, First Hill, etc, a are running $2000 To $2500! When I saw the one bdr and the large studio at The Maverick, I was in awe! The vetting process was long and extensive: I was getting frustrated. Now, I appreciate all the checks, since I know everyone else met similar standards. I pay $1500 for a wonderful, new apartment! Although cost is a little more than what I initially hoped. Been here almost two months now, and I love it! No noise from the neighbors! A little faraway engine noise from the airport, but not a problem. Top quality appliances (the full size washer and dryer are Wi-Fi capable with sensors); balcony big enough for a small table and two chairs (I have a view of Mt.Rainier); more storage in my unit than with my previous spot; hardwood type floors; painted millwork; cameras everywhere; 24 hour gym; theatre room; gas drills and gas firepits; friendly neighbors ( first night moving in, a neighbor offered his truck!); and a very professional and helpful staff! read more
