Great experience at this doctor's office for some of my skin concerns. There was a wait but that is expected for a busy doctor's office. I was mentally prepared to wait. The front office staff and medical assistants were good. My young teen daughter had her first appointment with Dr. Jacobs to address her acne. Where do I begin? Perhaps the part where he, for no reason at all, told my daughter to wait to have sex until marriage mid-appointment. What about the part where he told her to stay away from boys and to be careful because the boys are going to be "lined up like puppies looking for their female". We were there for acne. Not to be preached to about things he has zero business even bringing up at a DERMATOLOGY appointment to MY child. He recommended a medication for her and when I asked what side effects she'd experience, he answered, "She will be beautiful." Twice I asked about side effects. Twice I got the same answer. At the beginning of the appointment he wasted time commenting on how young I look and called me my daughter's sister more than once. More than twice. Gloves! Gloves were not worn whatsoever. He touched the doorknob, his phone, and my daughter's face. All gloveless. Also at the beginning of the appointment, he shared with my daughter and I that he had just come from a room where he removed a cancerous area from a woman's arm. "She was crying and throwing up. She should've been thankful that I saved her life from cancer." He's dancing on the edge of HIPPA regulations. The cherry on top of this already inappropriate cake, was that he wrapped up the appointment by sitting in the chair right next to me, and proceeded to fill out a bloodwork form. Not done yet. He put his hand on my shoulder, left it there and gave me a little shake. Was I the patient? No. Did I ask to be touched? No. Was it ok to do that? Absolutely not. Zero reason at all for his hand to have been near or on me. It was very obvious that his two employees who were in the room with us were embarrassed. As they should be. This was easily the worst medical visit I've ever experienced. I arrived 15 minutes early, but wasn't taken back to a room until 1 hour after my scheduled appointment time. When the doctor finally came in, the visit was unbelievably unprofessional. He was completely uninformative, answered a phone call in the middle of examining me, spent roughly two minutes shining a flashlight on my skin, said "you're good" and then walked out to continue his call. I left with no meaningful explanation, no confidence that I had received a proper examination, and the feeling that my time and concerns were completely disregarded. 5.14.26, today was the absolute worst visit I ever had in my 52 years of Dr visits. Dr. Randy Jacob's needs to retire, he provided me with a lot of useless talk, because it was not information at all. He diagnosed me based on my nationality, he didn't ask me about my health history, current medication or anything he shined a little light on my scalp for literally 2 seconds and gave me a false diagnosed and when I asked questions for my understanding he said I was arguing with him, attacking him, and judging him, which I wasn't! He spent 7 minutes talking about grass, babies, asthma all irrelevant to my visit, then he made a face time call during the visit and when the nurse asked him do he want to step in the hallway to take his call he said "No, he want to see his grandson" she had to ask him again...how rude! After his call he came back in the room and told we there is a lot of angry people in the waiting room, because he spent so much time on my visit...like seriously my insurance covering this visit just like there's! Not to mention i was there for over an hour before I was seen! This guy no longer cognitive for this profession and he is racist.. yes, I said it and it is true, if he is not racist he has very manners towards african american. He showed me pictures of ALL black people to diagnose me as if we are the only race with thinning hair. Dispose your scrubs Dr Jacobs you are done! I am disappointed! read more

My family has trusted Dr. Jacobs for over 30 years. He is by far the best dermatologist in the area if not one of the best in the country! He is an absolute expert at spotting skin cancers, rashes, and other conditions and knows how to get treatment ASAP! He saved my new born baby who developed at terrible mystery fungal rash and the pediatrician was baffled. He even got on the phone to have a personal consult with her and explain the condition. My baby was cured! He also has spotted multiple premelanomas on me that another PA has missed. read more

Firstly, all of the staff are nice and the PA that saw me is excellent. I'm not the type to write reviews but feel compelled to write one for this "institution". That being said, DO NOT LET DR. JACOBS PERFORM ANY KIND OF OPERATION ON YOU. I needed to have a mole removed and the operation site was not anesthetized properly so that I could feel the doctor cutting my skin. He then hogtied the wound closed with stitches that were oversized. I have a friend that works in Medical Device Sales and has observed a lot of stitches in the operating room and he could not believe how bad it was. They scheduled an appointment to remove the stitches 1 month after the operation. Everything I've found on the internet says to remove stitches 2 weeks after the operation at the latest. To no surprise, my stitches were bothering me so much after 3 weeks that I had to schedule an earlier appointment to get them removed. I now have a scar where you can clearly see the suture holes from the thick stitches that were used. I repeat, DO NOT LET DR JACOBS OPERATE ON YOU. He's a hack. I visited Dr. Jacobs recently. After reading the bad reviews, I was hesitant, and I was about to cancel my appointment, but I decided to give him an opportunity. It is true, if you want to see the doctor, you will have to way beyond your appointment time. I had to wait for 1 hour. Within the first 30 minutes, they took me to the exam room, and I had to wait another 30 minutes there. The PAs were sweet and caring, they were very kind. When the doctor came, I was glad that I didn't cancel the appointment. I found a doctor who genuinely cares about his patients; he will ask you about all your concerns, and is willing to help you and take care of you. My health concern was solved that same day, and even other questions that I had, he was able to take care of those as well. He is a good doctor with a good staff, If you want to see him, you will have to be patient. read more

I was assigned this doctor through my insurance. Ive been seen previously by two other dermatologists for the same reason. Neither one took the time to explain or listen to my concerns. First, Doctor Jacobs had a wonderful besides manor. Secondly, he examined me throughly. Thirdly, his attending nurse was fantastic. Upon his examination he discovered a melanoma on my back. Which had been looked at and dismissed many times by various doctors. Doctor Jacobs took immediate action to remove the mole and have it biopsy. Which came back cancerous. He treated me for my skin allergy and removed a mole that could have taken my life. For that I am eternally grateful. read more

Every aspect of this experience felt rushed. The front desk and doctor seemed to be pushing me out the door even though I arrived 15 min prior to my appointment time. I met with the doctor for 6 minutes before she wrote a prescription and walked out of the room. I had to ask the front desk to speak with doctor again so I could ask about the dosage and if I should continue using my other prescriptions. I left with many unanswered questions. Also, it was unprofessional and uncomfortable to hear the front desk staff complain about the other patient sitting in the waiting room. I was just seen for the first time this week by Dr. Randy Jacobs. I had some areas of concern regarding skin cancer. I had no idea of what to expect and after reading a few reviews, I was very nervous. Instead of hesitating because of someone else's opinion, I decided to see for myself. I'm very glad I did! Just say NO to this Dr! Appt was at 9:30, arrived at 9:20 - Dr. was not in the office and they did not tell us this when we checked in or even until we asked about 10 o'clock ! Took hubby to a room while the dr. was still not there and then when he came in he said "what are we doing today" ugh...full body exam and he said well get undressed and proceeded to see 3 other patients while we were waiting! He looked at a few spots but by no means was this a thorough mole/skin cancer body check. I can't believe this man is still practicing. He actually came in to work in ugg slippers! Dr. Jacobs has his staff over-book patients. Two weeks ago my disabled husband had an appointment at 1:30. The waiting room was small & cramped and had eight patients sitting there, all waiting their turn. Needless to say, we had some time to wait our turn, but never, ever did we think it would be a three ("3") hour wait. We were fuming, discussed, and tired​. The PA is quite good. I would recommend this place if this were the only consideration. The wait times are poor. 45-60 minutes is typical. I have read a lot of negative reviews about Dr Jacobs. I too have had to wait past my scheduled appointment time, but I have not been to any Dr in years that is not behind. Horrible experience. I developed a rash on my arms that had pustules. I was injected with steroids, it got worse and went deep. I was miserable, so finally I went to a different doctor, and he did a skin scraping. He said that the steroid shots were making it worse. So one year of suffering, it cleared up in 2 weeks with the other doctor. read more

This is the second time trying to see Dr Jacobs and this is the second time it is over an hour's wait from our appointment time to get in. While sitting there now waiting a half hour no one has gone in and no one has got come out so you know are waiting time has been extended. If you have time to waste at the doctor's office then this is the place to come. We have not been seen by the doctor so we don't know what his credentials are but from the get-go you can't get in to see him. This is my regular dermatologist who does a very good job of inspecting for skin issues and then treats them with liquid nitrogen, removal or with a solution you use for a few weeks. I have had all options done depending on what type and where the skin issues where. My recent experience at this office, its people and its Doctor is an alert and a warning for anyone planning a visit and reading this. The customer experience when walking in is non-existent. Robotic. Uncaring All about computer screens, not people. If you want to be treated as an object, this is your place. I booked my first appointment with the Doctor. Saw only an assistant. I booked my second appointment with the Doctor. Again, never saw him. I booked my third appointment and finally saw the doctor. Now I wish I would have seen the assistant. I'd be way better off. I informed the Doctor that the earlier treatment didn't completely work. He wanted to charge me anyway. I let him know that wasn't fair. He reluctantly agreed. Very reluctantly. From that moment on, he rushed me. Told me to stop talking when I was answering his questions. And, worst of all his treatment burnt the sides of my face. I left bruised, swollen, and in pain. The assistant I had on earlier appointments did a far better job than he did. Then there's the billing. You won't get an invoice. No record of charges. No receipts of payment. The assistant calculated the number of spots to be removed and the rate per each spot removed. The calculation was wrong. And when I pointed it out, the assistant agreed and adjusted the rate. Want to feel like a car in a body shop getting body work done - You'll be in the right place. In fact, I've gotten way better service and customer care from local body shops. I hope your experience is different, but I wouldn't bet on it. read more

I had been chosen to have the kind of acne you had in puberty--times ten. Yeah, good times. lol It's caused half by heredity and half by a cyst that makes an overproduction of hormones. But enough about the fun stuff. So after years of trying the acne products you've seen hawked on t.v. by celebs and trying a plethora of homemade remedies with lackluster results, I relented and scheduled an appointment with this dermatologist. Let's just say it was an adventure. First off I noticed in the waiting room that it's like a dermatology mill. There are more people coming in & out of that small room than Carter's got liver pills. Yeah I said it. :) They were over an hour late getting me in with not a mention of it or even a half-a** apology. If us patients are that late with no warning, heads can roll. Some places even charge you for it. So there I am with lots of people and no make-up, my zits and marks exposed to the world like never before. I knows my stuff about the only medication that works for me and so I tell both doctors that come in. One of them tries to encourage me to try this hard-core medication that is so nuclear that you need blood tests every couple weeks to make sure your organs haven't shut down from it. I know, right? So yeah, I decide to take a pass on that one. The other dermatologist pushes my head back so far I'm surprised everything still works back there. He also proceeds to ask me questions and then cut me off when I kindly answer him. You would think 7 years of schooling would help develop a basic understanding of give & take, but I guess not so much. I wrote on that handy-dandy form about my cyst that causes the overproduction of hormones, (which in turn produces the acne.) Well after about half-way into the appt, the dermatologist suggests alas, he has the root of my problem. It just might be a cyst that causes an overproduction of hormones. Turns out that 7 years of schooling doesn't help develop one's reading skills either. And that medication I tell them is the only one that worked for me? Well he suggests he has a better one. He prescribes something else and as I suggested, it doesn't work. Go figure, the patient actually knew something useful, lol. He also prescribed a topical gel--which is about the same thing you can get on drug store shelves. It didn''t work either. That was almost $200 (cost of consult & medication prescribed) wasted but the bright spot was that he was nice enough to give me tons of samples even if it was again, to no avail. So other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play? lol :) Thanks to a tip from an estitician, adding amino acids to my diet ($9 a bottle at health food stores) got to the root of the problem- something this dermatologist had no idea about. **P.S. Explanations are all well & good, but if just half of that energy was put into action rather than talk...this negative review probably wouldn't be here right now. :)) read more

Horrible horrible horrible. Avoid this doctor at all costs. I waited over 1.5 hours to be seen by him. No respect for his patients time. I had to have 8 biopsies done. All in which he left me with permanent scarring when he could of done a shave biopsy. He also answered his cell phone while he was seeing me and didn't wash his hands! My biopsy sites are deep and painful. I called back the next day saying I was in a ton of pain and they wouldn't give me anything except Motrin. Will never go back. read more
