One quoted an outrageous price, two quoted half the figure, and two promised to come out for a quote and never showed up. All had a number of poor reviews of their work on line. I held off getting the work done. This spring I contacted Pro Coat. Dave Marion quoted a fair price for the job, and warned me that he couldn't guarantee the old botched finish could be completely removed. He said his crew would test a small area and only if they could satisfactorily clean it, would they do my entire deck. His men arrived within the time frame Dave had estimated, the test cleaning worked perfectly, and within the day my deck was stripped, brightened and looking like new. A few days later Pro Coat was back and the deck was stained in an afternoon. Great care was taken to cover the side of the house next to the deck so no over-spray could get on the siding or brickwork. The yard was left immaculately clean. Alfredo did a great job of evenly and thoroughly applying the new stain to the inside and outside of the deck, despite the surrounding hedge making it difficult. My deck now looks like new, and the results were far better than I thought could possibly be achieved. Any future work I need will be done by Pro Coat, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend their services to anyone.

I had a fence and gates installed in late October. In early December there was a cold snap after…read morewhich two out of my three gates would no longer latch because the posts were not dug deep enough below the frost line. I called the company several times in late December and early January to fix the problem, but I never heard back from them. I finally started to email them to try to get a better response. Finally, I was able to get the company to come out on February 18 to replace the 2 posts with longer posts that were dug deeper in the ground and to adjust the springs which, as it turned out, they installed improperly. To my surprise, they handed me a bill for $945. $745 to replace the posts and $200 to adjust the springs. I called to complain and the owner Bob. Jaacks called me back on March 6 and was incredibly rude. He admitted that the $200 charge for adjusting the springs was wrong but insisted on the $745 charge for fixing the gates. When I said it was wrong to charge me for repairs on a fence that was installed two months prior - He laughed and said his warranty on the gate was only 30 days and he would file a lien on my property for the full amount. Even the $200 he admitted was wrong. He also told me never to call again and that they would never answer my calls. He never offered any discounted options or any compromise. Industry- wide standard is a one year warranty on fences and gates - which makes sense in a cold weather climate such as Chicago. The fact that my gates stopped working after two months when with my prior fence the gates didn't have this problem until after 15 years would indicate to me that this companyis not when you want to hire. And how the dispute was handled after the fact shows their total lack of concern for their customers. I strongly recommend against using this Fence company.

I was almost tempted to go with a more polished company with lots of samples and flyers on hand, but I'm so glad we didn't. Frank was incredibly easy to work with - very timely, communicative, friendly, helpful, and honest. He saved us money where he could and made sure we got exactly what we were looking for. Peter (foreman) and team were very professional, speedy, tidy, and meticulous. We uncovered a rotted support beam and a roofing issue during the deck rebuild, and Frank took care of all that as well with his roofer, and took care of the additional Trex materials that were needed after we uncovered the issues and added to the project. The extra unexpected work only took about an extra week or two to resolve. The team even poured some cement for us to fill in cracked stairs while they were pouring cement to secure the deck posts. All paperwork was handled professionally through their admin contact via email, and Frank was always accessible by phone or text if we had questions. We would definitely use them again and can't recommend them enough!
