They replaced 2 furnaces and one AC unit and I don't kow any better so I thought it was fine. The following year the other AC unit broke and they came out and said it was leaking fluid and charged us $700 to fix it. It broke again in 2 weeks. We had another company look at it and they said they didn't even clean the unit after they replaced the fluids. It needed to be replaced but they bought me another month just by cleaning it and charged $100. They said the furnace install was "interesting" as they should have cut the vents instead of leaving the original that had to work harder to push the air through. When he looked at it he said, "let me guess, Randazzo?" They have by far the highest pricing in town and I will never go back after this last issue. Do yourself a favor and shop around. read more

Something to keep in mind when using Randazzo service. First, they do a good job and the service people are fine. But after the initial $95 diagnostic charge, you will need to ask about the parts charges. My furnace humidifier needed repair; basically, a new filter and a plastic water supply line. They charged $139 for the approximately 8" plastic supply tube. I checked online and found the exact line was $25. I unde3rstand that there is an installation charge but that took realistically about five minutes. That's quite the markup. When I called the service manager, Kendall, about the charge he was really brusque and said, "we have to charge for labor and road time" ($95 had already been added for getting to my home and taking the cover off the unit). While I expect to pay more for Randazzo I don't expect to get rude treatment and a "sorry, that's what it is." Just keep it in mind. It'll cost you. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Had a Randazzo's technician come out for regular seasonal maintenance. Hours after he left, our basement was flooded and the air is no longer working. Coincidence? Unlikely. They sent someone else out for a service call and he couldn't help. Customer service basically told me to kick rocks, without video proof the technician did something wrong. Installed a new Furnace and AC unit. If you have a two stage system.... do yourself a favor and do not call them. 1) The initial installation was very bad. The team did not even connect certain parts to power properly . First service they came in and did that. 2) Now my second floor was constantly calling for heat , but heat was not reaching that floor. So the furnace was always running and the floor one was hot. Second service call they fixed it. 3) Since it was December they couldn't test the AC. At this point I got nervous and said "I want the AC to be tested when it is time" 4) Now it is June for the last 2 months I am trying to get the AC work properly. The service men coming in seems to be having no knowledge of two stage and they keep adjusting the thermostat and tell me that I have to keep it a certain way to get it working. Which I tried and it failed. 5) I did have a system before this for 12 years which gave me no trouble. Every time scheduling a service takes 20 days roughly and at this point they are trying to tell me this is how it is supposed to work. I will surely file a complaint after this time since I spent 14k. This is for a MI review. Not able to change the state. read more

My furnace stops working during winter weather. They came out pretty quick. The repair was worth the $95 service fee. I was not impressed that their final decision was I needed a new furnace. This is the same recommendation I heard within one year of having the home built twenty years ago. I did not follow the recommendation to replace the furnace and air conditioning either time. Folks - Do your homework and be careful. Friends of mine just had Randazzo at their house to "fix" their furnace that wasn't working. First the tech said it was a bad electrical board and needed to be replaced for $900 (board cost like $130). It wasn't the issue / bad root cause analysis and then the tech said it was a gas control valve for $1300 ($347 part). I get it that the company needs to charge labor and time to root cause the issues but this is total robbery and unacceptable. They called someone else who came over and fixed it properly and only cost $360 total. read more

Randazzo came out to "service" our tankless hot water heater. the technician did not know anything about our hot water heater, he claimed he fixed it and when we turned on hot water he in fact didn't fix it. spent an hour sitting in the drive way googling and calling other people to see if anyone knew how to fix it. then he came back in said it would $400 to have someone else come out with a part after we paid $100 for him to dazzle us with his presences. Don't ever recommend the Randazzo HVAC Company! Three Years, still waiting for Randazzo to replace the damaged furnace parts on now my new furnace. Checking on the installation progress, seen one of the steel panels housing the "A/C Evaporator Coil" is damaged creating a (6") opening between panels. Questioning Randazzo's employees to correct the damage, will Randazzo install a new "A/C Evaporator Coil Housing Section? Randazzo's employees stated will order new section and with that Randazzo's employees gooped the opening between the damaged panels full of "Silicone!" I asked questions about the equipment condition, quality, alignment, gaps etc their comment was: that's not to bad, that's normal, that's ok or that'll/it will be ok including when asking about the damage. Randazzo charged me over $5000.00+! Mentioned to randazzo's employees when they bought a new vehicle and was dented, leaking and dirty would they tell the dealership salesman(person) that's ok, that's normal, that's not to bad... Substandard installation: condenser unit runs very noisy, condenser fins smashed. Poor fabrication, installation and workmanship including failing to seal up air leaks is unprofessional work! We've all heard on the news stations, public service warnings and seen reports in the news papers about the thousands and thousands of Senior Citizens, Elderly and the Challenged scammed, taken advantage, robbed, abused and ripped off by "CONTRACTORS!" Randazzo HVAC Company gives people the impression of being Professional, Trusted and Competent.... I needed a furnace repair because my furnace went out while we were out of town and the house was freezing cold. They said they could be there between 2-5. Fine. I ran into a problem at work, and I got a message that the tech was at my house, and had left. I called them immediately, said I would be there in 15 minutes, and begged them to have their guy turn around and wait. Nope, I was told. I would have to wait until the following afternoon for a service call. So fine, I called one of their competitors (C&C) and I got an evening service call, and ended buying a new furnace form them. So, Randazzo, you need to be a little more accommodating and flexible to your prospective clients. You lost a $5000 order because of it. read more

If sales and installation were the only criteria they would rate highly. We purchased two furnaces. However, after four months we requested tech-support to adjust the furnace blower speed. Receptionist was rude and attempted to charge us $95. I was basically interrogated and the receptionist would not send out technician to inspect and adjust our new furnaces. I purchased a new HVAC unit end of July - the installation seemed to go smooth however getting the work inspected has become an issue. While Randazzo said the inspectors would be coming out, when nothing was happening, I called West Bloomfield myself. The inspectors both came on the same day, (mechanical and electrical), the electrical passed since it was a replacement, but the intake/exhaust did not. This was on September 17, the inspector's comment " I wouldn't use the furnace until they fix it". I called Randazzo they said they would get the report the inspectors' uploaded, and someone would be contacting me within 48 hours. Not hearing from Randazzo, I called again on September 27th. I was told someone would be contacting me no later than Monday September 30th. It's October 2 in the afternoon, still no call - so I have put a call in for the General Manager to call me. Suck you spend $10K for a new HVAC unit and you are told to not use it. read more

I do not know what has change with Randazzo's... but for two days now I have tried to contact them on the phone and their system just forwards me to a voice mail system that has music all the time . You cannot even leave a message.. I have waited up to 20 mins with no answer... I would like to recommend them as they did a great job installing my new A/C, but I guess they are not interested in answering their phones... I am updating this as I finally got in touch with them and they responded very apologetic and fixed the problem promptly... they are very knowledgeable and courteous... I find it funny the same people that dumped me as a customer keep sending me information to schedule a maintenance appointment. Randazzo's bought out Air Conditioning Engineers and holy cow - we just paid a high dollar for it! Service tech came out for simple maintenance and found a "weakness" with a capacitor part that was still under warranty, bill for just that part came to $175.50. Mind you this part is under warranty!!! After he left, we discovered actual cost of the part going in was approximately $30.00. This is terrible - we are seniors on a fixed income. We had also signed up for their "platinum plan" $215.00...and were supposed to get 10% off cost of parts and labor if repairs were needed. Never received it. Buyer beware... read more

Randazzo bought A/C Engineers a few years ago. A/C was my go to for all HVAC in my house - new A/C when house built, and new replacement high efficiency furnace and A/C 10 years ago, plus several repair calls. All done great. This last week A/C went out due to secondary wiring short per the error message on furnace. With a week of 95+ weather coming, this needed to be fixed, so called A/C Engineers, now Randazzo. I was told that "we are really busy" (no kidding), and earliest appointment would be two weeks away. Understand they are busy, but this counted as emergency service. Then told "well, we ca put you on "emergency" list and if someone cancelled we can get to you". Accepted appointment but was not really thrilled with this "customer service". Called 2 others HVAC contractors, one never responded, but Great Dane Heating and Cooling had a technician here the next morning. Successfully determined issue ( DTE Interruptible Service transmitter box causing short). Needless to say, Great Dane is now my HVAC support, Randazzo is not. read more

I had a furnace and air conditioner installed 1 week ago. The salesman was nice and pleasant, installers were on time and very professional with the job. 2 days after the install I noticed it leaking air from the evaporator door, all along the seam. (pic 1) After not having any luck with the service person on scheduling someone to fix it, I requested a customer service manager, and was told someone would be there in 2 days. When they arrived, it was the same people who installed it, with a tube of silicone caulk. Instead of taking the door off and fixing the problem, they caulked all the way around the door. (pic 2,3) As you can see in pic 1, nice clean job, no silicone. In pic 2, every seam in that picture is siliconed, including all the way around the plenum. Pic 3 shows the front and how it was siliconed all the way down. If that is a door, how does it come apart now? What I would like is for someone from Lennox to respond to this as I can almost guarantee that this is not a designed fix for their equipment. I was happy with Randazzo and my new furnace until this. Now it looks old, junky, and like it was installed by a bunch of hacks. read more

I purchased a residential Lennox central AC from Randazzo in 2008. In 2010 the thing stopped cooling and they wanted $700 just to inspect it, and warned it could be up to $1,000 to fix it, so I'd better be sure if I wanted them to come out. I had a couple of places come out (for about $65, not the Randazzo threat of $700) and ultimately was told it was a leak causing the unit to lose freon. The parts warranty wouldn't cover a repair, only replacement. I called Randazzo and they concurred, advising they wouldn't replace the parts for a leak, only try to repair, requoting the $700 estimate to find the leak (take the unit apart). I said no and had the puron refilled a couple of times for the next 5 years. Eventually, the strain on the compressor caused it to start to fail. I called Randazzo AGAIN, and was told if I called Mike Randazzo himself, I could get a sealant to try to plug the leak for about $200, but they couldn't guarantee this would fix the problem. OR, the guy told me I could refill my puron until it stopped working and buy a new unit in another 2 years or so. I decided against using Randazzo right then and there. I called Aladdin Heating and Cooling and they told me there was a class action lawsuit against Lennox for its defective copper coils used in its evaporators. They told me they knew about it years and would recommend a Carrier, if I wasn't going to try to pay upwards of $1,000 for a repair. Carrier moved to aluminum coils after seeing the issues with copper. Ultimately, I went with a whole new AC and furnace with Aladdin (furnace was 15 years old). I don't blame Randazzo for the defective AC evaporator coils, but I'm positive they KNEW about the issue and could've been honest about it (like Aladdin). Instead they chose to milk me and try to get another sale worth thousands to boost their bottom line. read more

Woke up Saturday morning to a cold house. We called Randazzo, since they had been at our house two weeks prior for a furnace tune up. At first I was told that they wouldn't be able to come out until Monday or I had to call after 2pm and pay $200 for an emergency appointment. After kindly explaining they had just been out and now our furnace wasn't working, they managed to squeeze us in. After assessing the furnace, I was told that we needed a new induction motor, costing somewhere around $1,000 and we would be without heat until at least Tuesday. Thankfully my uncle, who was in heating and cooling his entire career, was in town Saturday. He came over and took a look at the furnace for us. The first thing he said was that it was filthy. Please keep in mind Randazzo had just come for a tune up and cleaning. He then fiddled around with it for 5 minutes and was able to get the furnace working again so we didn't freeze for at least 4 days, per Randazzo. Fast forward to today, Tuesday, and we still haven't even heard from them letting us know if they were able to get the part. Thankfully we were able to order the part ourselves and install it for just over $100. read more

Our 3 year old water heater let go sometime Saturday night. The water heater was purchased through this company. Once the issue was found on Sunday morning, after my husband ended up with a very cold shower, we called the after hours number. I made the phone call at 9:44am. I recieved a call back around 11:30am being told that our information had been sent on to a technician and he would call us back once he knew when he could get to us. At 2:44pm the gentleman calls us, I explained the situation to him. He said that there was no point in coming out when he didn't have access to bring out a new unit on a Sunday. To call back in the morning. Strange that they would offer this service and then not give access to replacement units to fix issues like this. But, okay fine. Monday morning rolls around, my husband makes the phone call, again around 9:30am or so. He was told that they would have a technician out on July 16th with a replacement unit. Excuse me? He said wait, we have a warranty with you. We have a family, 2 kids. 1 kid works construction, he needs showers, the other is autistic and has sensory issues. I have a wife who has an autoimmune disorder and I work. You are telling me we have to wait 2.5 weeks to get a replacement unit? I'm sorry sir, but there are other customers that called in before you this is a busy time of year. Okay, so you can't bump someone who is just looking to get a new water heater when their's is working, for a family that has no hot water? He was told that she would put it down that it was urgent. He said okay, what does that mean? She tells him, you'll be put on a cancellation list and you may get someone sooner than July 16th. If this is how they treat there customers, when they are already one of the more expensive HVAC companies out there, then I will NEVER purchase ANY thing from them. When the repair person finished instead of getting a repair estimate I was told it was going to be another $638 to find the leak! I think most home owners dread buying a roof,windows, and a climate control system. I think it's wise to do some research on the products before you call for estimates. I called three reputable companies for comparison quotes. I received quotes for an Amana,Trane and Lennox climate control systems. Out of the three quotes one guy tried to sell himself ,the company , and the quality of their systems. The other quote the guy looked at the equipment and ten minutes later his quote was right there. The last quote was from Lennox.They had a 3k dollar rebate which helped bring a high quality system down to be more affordable. I really liked the indoor air system as well as the rebates for an extra 500 dollars. The salesman John Warner did a great job presenting his products. I really liked John's style he was not pushy . I pointed to the furnace and ac unit that I wanted. John entered the order into his I pad and the deal was done. The day of installation two guys showed up they were efficient and polite. The furnace and ac unit were installed in one day . I absolutely love the new system. The only unknown is if Randazzo will perform and take care of their warranties . Oh by the way the warranty is 10 years on both the furnace and ac unit. It would have been nice if they would have left me a lawn sign so the neighbors could see it. read more

Your repairman was on time show up wearing his mask very polite. I am a 76 year old senior citizen. He inspected my united and estimated it would be $2500.00 to repair it and about $4500 for replacement. I couldn't agree with those prices so I paid the $95.00 service charge with my debit card. The next day my account was hit 34 times by someone doing computer gambling. I use my credit card all the time and nothing like this has ever happen. Because of this I will never use your service or recommend your service. not accusing your repairman it just happen to close for me to be comfortable sharing my information with your company. I called Randazzo's to get a quote for a new furnace at my home in Clawson. The gentlemen who came out was nice enough - spent about an hour looking at my existing furnace and duct work, and told me that my furnace really wasn't the problem. The issue was with the ducting of the house (totally believable). Anyway, he said he'd get the office to call me and schedule another time for he and another guy to come out and look at things. This cost me $100. After two weeks, I had heard nothing - finally, after repeated calls and posting a negative review on another site (may actually have been on the Randazzo site), they called me back and apologised, and scheduled another trip out. No problem - a week or so later, three guys came out and surveyed the house, discussing at depth all of the alterations they were going to have to make in order to better distribute hot and cold air. Again, this is very likely the case - I do not think they were trying to mislead me. They told me they'd get a quote to me in about two weeks and then...nothing. Ever. I didn't call the office back and I never will (except to try and get reimbursed for the original $100, still deciding). If they don't want the work, or they don't have the organisational skills to even provide the quotes they promise, I have no interest in doing business with them. Second time they inspected outside my house for gas leak and found Consumer Energy problem with pipe to house. From the first phone call to schedule a sales person to come out for an estimate to the installation I feel they were very professional and great to work with. I had a total of 5 companies give me estimates. Most were in the same ball park as far as cost. The reason we chose Randazzo was because of their 3 yr service contract included with purchase. Also they offer 18 months interest free financing. Lennox is also a great product. I had my Lennox Pulse furnace for over 35 years. read more
