On top of that, they have a incredibly nice staff. Lastly, this place is brand spanking new, so if you moved here, you would be the first person to ever lived in the unit. I had high hopes for this apartment complex when I first moved in. Initially, I noticed some minor…read moreissues that I attributed to it being a new building and thought they were working out the kinks. However, now that the complex is almost at full capacity, those small issues have escalated into significant problems that are hard to overlook. The cleanliness of the shared spaces is terrible. Neighbors frequently leave trash bags on the carpet or trash cans outside their doors throughout the day, which is completely unacceptable. The trash rooms are often filled from floor to ceiling with foul-smelling garbage. The outdoor trash area near the parking garage resembles a run-down project rather than a "luxury apartment complex." The carpets are perpetually dirty, covered in dust, litter, and drippings from the trash valet, creating an unpleasant odor. It's alarming how many flies and gnats are in the building. The pool has been filthy for months, and the management's attempts to clean it are laughable. They merely push the same dirt and leaves from one side to the other, without any professional maintenance. To make matters worse, some neighbors bring their dogs into the pool, further contributing to unsanitary conditions, while management does nothing to enforce the rules or address this behavior. You'll pay luxury prices without the experience.

I was told it was past the warranty because if it was a workmanship issue that would come up in the first year. Well the tile finally fell off and it turns out THEY TILED OVER A 2x4 THAT WAS NOT WATER PROOFED. When I contacted them he asked if I thought it would be sufficient to just put the tile back on and I said no I think there will be mold behind the wall, he never got back to me. The tile job was also very sloppy with uneven tiles, cracked grout and chipped tiles installed. I had let that all go, but tiling over wood in a shower is a really bad mistake and I will now have to spend thousands to replace the entire shower.

Matt Kruger(MEK Residential) was recommended to us by our realtor to build a garage apt and do a…read morekitchen renovation. We were very disappointed with his work. Our main area of concern was the sloppiness of his contractors. We were paying Matt to be sure the job was done right, yet we were the ones finding all the mistakes that he was signing off on! We understand that in any construction project there will be problems, but in our case it was excessive. This is a partial list of examples of sloppy workmanship in the apartment: The window frames were set to low. The framer was subsequently fired for taking shortcuts. The new wood floors were to short and did not extend all the way to the baseboard. The upstairs drain in the shower was cracked causing a leak through the kitchen ceiling. The valve in the upstairs shower was not installed correctly so we had no hot water. The light fixture in the bathroom was not centered over the sink. The thermostat was not installed correctly so it wasn't working when we needed heat. The tile in the kitchen was not cut properly leaving a gap between the wall and the switch plate. The custom front door was not stained properly leaving an unsightly blotch. The concrete floor has a leaf fossil and shoe imprints. Also, the contractor didn't put a layor of wax on the floor so the spills soaked right through and turned into spots. For the kitchen renovation the outside venting was not installed for the stove and the faucet was not installed properly causing a leak into the new cabinetry. The wood floors were not repaired properly(even after 3 attempts. I finally had to insist that some else to do the work). The family room ceiling had to be painted because the sheetrock guy sprayed texture on it(overflow from the wall). In the beginning of this process our calls were returned promptly. Mid way through we found we were waiting up to a week for a callback. Probably the most frustrating part of the 9 month experience was the no shows on the part of the tradesmen. When we asked Matt why we were having such a problem with the contractors not showing up, he said he had no idea, they don't work for him. Huh? We had several discussions with Matt along the way about our concerns. His only response was that he would fix everything to our satisfaction(which he did). I know we were not his only clients during this time. It seemed like our job was not as important as his other projects. Maybe the larger the project the better the service.

On both jobs, Matt presented us with a budget and stayed on target. While city permitting put us behind on our timeline for our most recent reno, Matt worked hard to coordinate his crews and get us into our new home as soon as possible. We lived in our first house for almost five years and sold it quickly based on the quality and beauty of the transformative work of MEK Residential. Hardwood flooring was removed from some areas and reused in another- no easy feat. The addition of a 400 Master Bedroom and bath was executed so seamlessly that guests could not tell where the old house ended and the addition began. Abutting a concrete slab addition against a pier and beam house was carefully engineered and we never saw an issue with the flooring/walls/etc. Also, while we lived there, the only repairs we had to make were on things that Matt's crews didn't touch- namely 50 year old plumbing. Matt was the first one we called when we decided to take on another renovation project for our new home. This home presented challenges as well- patching brick masonry work, matching existing paneling and trim, removing load bearing walls, converting a garage into living space in a seamless manner. Matt and his contractors moved through the project with ease. We have been in this home for one and a half years and everyone who visits it can see the quality and care put into the renovation. I highly recommend MEK Residential to my family, friends and interior design clients. It's no secret that remodeling and construction can be a frustrating process- but these renovation addicts will be calling MEK residential for our next project..
