I grew up on Gene and Jude's. I still make the drive even through its a bit of a cruise to get a double dog or two. Then a friend of mine mentioned this place. Its much closer and it is similar but not the same. If you need a Gene and Jude fix you might be satisfied with this places dogs and you might not be. The quality seems to be not very consistent. One day you get a good snap from your hot dog. A few days later and its not there. More times our of not its a good dog though. My son who I introduced to Gene and Jude's when he was little went crazy with this place bringing home dogs weekly after work. Great tasting dogs and awesome fries. Prefer the blanched and double fried potatoes @ Rand Red Hots to any other fresh cut around. This is a cleaner,nicer, subrurban version of Gene's and Judes. The owner isn't the warm and fuzzy type, but has a great product. read more

My kinda joint...You can tell that the owners of this establishment get it!!! They serve them as if it really matters. And to a hot dog snob like me it does matter that it is not just some typical "Greek owned" (sorry, but it's true), stand trying to be all things to all people with 50 things on the menu! It's a HOT DOG STAND! It is on par with Gene & Jude's and Jimmy's at Pulaski & Grand! Yes that's right, i said it! My absolute favorite go to place for a hot dog, fries and a tamale...fries are always fresh and delicious...hot dogs always hot and classic 4 section chicago tamales...I've eaten here at least 25 times in the past year...never a bad meal!!! read more

Can't beat Rand Red Hots. The fries are out of this world and come wrapped around your char dog. The chocolate shake is very good, too. The food is consistently great, the employees are nice, and the inside is spotless. I like the throwback atmosphere and music. read more

Rand Red Hots is our go-to place for a good hot dog and great french fries. I like a double because their hotdogs are small. There's a choice of regular or char dogs. Both are good. The french fries are hand-cut and you get a bucket of them with the hotdog. Hot dogs could be bigger. I'm not sure what brand they use, but they're tasty albeit on the small side. Cash only, folks! It beats driving all the way to Gene and Jude's because they are on par with them, only closer. Dine in or out or drive through. Your choice. read more

Lovely place and the atmosphere is great. When I bit into the hot dog I tasted true greatness when I heard the snap of Vienna sausage. The fries from this place are a guilty pleasure that I allow myself once in a while, the order is massive and you really should share but they're so good and always served to you piping hot and deliciously salted that before you realize it you've eaten the whole order!! They have a no nonsense simple menu of hot dogs, shakes with fries being their specialty. The service is usually friendly and quick, but you can hop on a stool and watch TV while your order is prepared, overall when you're in the mood for a hot dog and fries this is a good spot. read more

This is a fantastic little hot dog joint there's not much seating if you wanted to eat there however it is well worth the price you can't get a hotdog and fries much cheaper anywhere else. It does remind me of Gene and Jude's however I find this place to be better it seems to be less greasy then Gene and Jude read more

Went here this past weekend. Walking in, the decor is fun. Very small place with only 2 booths and some counters to stand. When it is nice outside there are tables out there. The staff was friendly and the wait time on food was decent. The guy who rang out our order did tell us it would take a little longer for the "char dogs". The food was excellent and the fries are awesome!!!! We also did try the milkshakes which were very good. They are also decently priced. For 2 people, we spent 13 dollars on our lunch and an extra 6 for our milkshakes when we left. They only take cash and do have an atm if you do not have cash on you. read more

The guy taking the orders, I found to be extremely rude and extremely short on his answers. I could possibly understand that shortness if they had a line out the door, but they were not that busy. Not very friendly customer service all....however......The prices are great. LOVED the fresh cut fries. Food is good and you just cannot beat the price. Location is convenient. There definitely needs to be more seating and only other thing I would suggest to be changed is the way they package up the food. They take a piece of wrap paper, put the hot dog in it, then throw a handful of fries and wrap it all up together. When you unwrap your food, if you had a loaded hot dog, all your fixings get all over the fries. it also mushes the hot dog bun. I personally feel they should be packaged seperately. Overall, customer service was less than standard, prices are amazing, food it good but just packaged poorly and seating sucks. read more

I have been going to this joint since it opened, and at this point no other dog will do! I know this cause I got a dog at a place in Skokie that for years I loved, a great dog.I went to the skokie joint last week and all I could think of was my last Rand Red Hots dog, how I missed it! I am hooked on the pure and delicious hot dog at Rand Red Hots. Mustard, onions and sport peppers rule!! Perfectly steamed bun and yea that is important.The inhouse freshcut fries are honestly the best I have EVER had. They also have the polish sausage which is very good as well. These guys know what they are doing, and if you want a pure dog, not some new age put everything on it nonsense, then come here often. read more

This hot dog spot is delicious! It's very similar to gene & judes but with some more options. The drive through is good and bad at the same time. Good because it's easier when on the go, but bad because it is between the restaurant & the outside seating. Children tend to run in front without looking & you need to be very careful leaving. But overall it has very good food. read more
