Great Mexican food. Great service / we especially Love their scratch margaritas! Highly recommend!

I don't understand how this place is as popular as it is! The food is hands down the worst tasting I have ever had at a Mexican restaurant and there drinks come with basically no alcohol in them! I gave this place 3 chances and every time I walked away unsatisfied. The only reason they got two stars is because of there survivors, very nice employees, the ambiance is not bad as well but the food is not good! read more

So I wasn't overly impressed on my chimichanga and it was a little more expensive than I thought it should have been, but what stood out to me was how fast the food came out. I would say the time it took to come out of the kitchen was under 10 minutes. read more

As we walked in at the peak of a dinner time rush we were happily greeted with smiles, actually they were practically cheers. We were seated with no wait and chips, salsas, waters were on the table in mere seconds. Our server had just been started with a big top right before us so we were helped by other less busy servers and quite possibly a very friendly and boisterous manager. Our drink orders were taken quickly and brought to the table so fast I had a hard time even thinking they could be ours or correct but they were. Just moved to the area and my favorite place before was fiesta brava on Francis but I gave this place a try the other day I ordered the small combination with 2 chicken enchiladas with a side of rice beans and chips and salsa and let me tell you EVERYTHING was spot on. Sooooo yummy !!! I actually just ordered it again I'll post pictures of the food my fiancé and I ordered. Definitely gonna be a place that gets a lot of business from me. read more

We went there just before 7pm on a Thursday. A few customers but not that busy. Service was great. My husband got a Chile Relleno and said it is the best one he has had of all the ones he has tried at various Mexican restaurants around the Valley and Spokane. Ok, went here because of all the rave reviews... um, WTF? I should preface my review with the fact that I'm half Hispanic and I'm from Phoenix, Arizona. I grew up on my Nana's homemade tortillas, beans and rice. That being said, I truly love, appreciate and crave Mexican Food. Rancho Chico caught my eye because of the decor and like I said, the rave reviews here on Yelp. Upon arriving we were warmly greeted and promptly seated. We were quickly tended too with a pitcher of ice water and some chips (I'm pretty positive were store bought) and salsa. Our drink orders were quickly filled and our orders taken. (This garnered 1 star) I ordered a shredded beef chimichanga which came with rice and beans, garnished with lettuce and a dollop of guacamole and sourcream with a quartered tomato on top (which is weird). The plating was sloppy, as in my plate looked slopped together. The beans were super runny and the rice had NO flavor. My chimichanga was soggy, not crispy and fried as any real good chimichanga is. The shredded beef inside had some kind of red sauce that seemed too sweet and tomato-based. Everything seemed like it lacked salt, of any kind. My husband ordered a combo plate with a chicken taco, tostada and enchilada. Again, very sloppy plating, absolutely NO seasoning of any kind in the chicken, it was so bland! The taco shell really seemed store bought. Total buzz kill. The restaurant itself is warm and inviting and very clean. Great ambiance. (this garnered a 2nd star ) Will we return? No. Is this great or even good Mexican food? Um, NO. Would I recommend this place? That's a negative! I so wanted to like you Rancho Chico, but I just dont. read more

I've noticed people in Spokane are basically food illiterate. The reviews of restaurants here are extremely unfounded. The food at Rancho Chico is, at best, mediocre. The tortilla chips are store bought as well as the taco shells. If you want authentic Mexican food in this city, head over to Deleon's Mexican Deli. Growing up in Southern California, I know good Mexican food when I eat it. Deleon's is far superior! So if this restaurant is simply "in your neighborhood" and you're afraid of "new things" then by all means eat at Rancho Chico. If you want REAL Mexican food head over to Deleon's. read more

Despite my living around the corner, I don't get here often enough. Jose is helpful as ever. You are always greeted as family. The food is on point. Went to dinner there @ 6:00 it wasn't crowded at all for a Sunday evening. Service was very poor waited at our table for chips & salsa & waited even longer for to order a drink. Finally they took our order then food came out fast! Food wasn't like it used to be! Rancho Chico rocked the Northside culinary scene when it exploded onto the prime real estate known as the Y... but lately traffic has slowed a little bit at the old Rancho... but the quality and service are as good as ever. I've been to Rancho Chico multiple times as their food is really great and their drinks are even better. The last few times I've been there I noticed the portions have gotten noticeably smaller. I noticed even before covid had happened and everything in the world had changed, so I went there a few times after and noticed that all of the portion no matter what was ordered on the menu was very small. I went there last week and ordered fajitas and the cast iron plate was literally full of onions and peppers. I didn't even have enough meat on that plate to fill two of the 3 tortillas, there was only 4 pieces of meat on the plate. The rice beans and lettuce was only half of that plate as well. Very disappointed because the prices of them have went up about 6-7$ and the portions have noticeably shrank. read more

First time eating here, so far so good, chips and salsa and our own pitcher of water have been provided. Currently out of chips and salsa, waiters haven't come around for about 5 minutes. Hoping to get some soon. Going for a bit without chips wasn't a bad thing, as our food came in place of more crunchy tortillas. The enchiladas were good. Above average American style Mexican food. It was a last minute meeting, and either I went or possibly lose a deal so I ended up at Rancho Chico again, this time for lunch. Let's talk about pros. Service was spot on, manager/owner? on the floor, our server was super accommodating and always there, 5 stars, seriously some of the best service I've had in Spokane, attentive, quick but not over-bearing. House salsa was good this time, just the right amount of spice and not watery. The food however was just okay, the people I was meeting all thought it was great but they are from Spokane and we didn't share so I can only comment on what I had. While this time it was edible, it was nothing special - not bad - not great just okay. The portions were large, so maybe that is the draw and the plates did come out looking nice. I will probably try them again, and if my experience changes I will let you guy know. PS I love upgrading restaurants, even just a small upgrade. read more

Rancho Chico, by far our Favorite Mexican food place in Spokane. While my family and I were home this last week we tried another place in town and this place by far is the BEST! I had a Taco Salad without the shell - I love they give this option as I am on Weight Watchers, my husband had a burrito and my son had hard shell tacos ( chicken) everything was gone. No one left hungry oh and they gave us dessert cinnamon pastry with whip cream and strawberry sauce it was AMAZING. this place should be on your must have list. read more

We have been regulars at Rancho Chico on NW Boulevard since they first opened, probably 12 years ago. From our first visit we were impressed with how they had transformed a dumpy, depressing restaurant (El Rio) into a bright, clean establishment that is always a pleasure to visit. Service: I've never encountered a friendlier staff. They always greet us like old friends, pinch the kids' cheeks and give us warm handshakes. They are never to busy to exchange pleasantries, ask how we are doing and comment on how big the kids are getting. Food: Mexican food is always so subjective for people, but we love the food here. It is always fresh, hot and served quickly. The kids meals are huge, the fajitas are enough for us share, and the chips and salsa are great and never in short supply. And man, if you order a drink, they don't skip on the booze. I can't say enough great things about this restaurant or it's people. We feel lucky to have them in our neighborhood! We were visiting Spokane area and we decided to try Rancho Chico Mexican restaurant. We were greeted as we walked in by the host, who was very friendly. We were offered drinks and chips, as we were reading our menus our waiter Julio, came by 3 times to take our order, we felt rushed. The menu is quite large and we all trying to decide my boyfriends mom is 88 years old. My boyfriend ordered the combo dinner of two taco's and a enchilada, mom ordered a burrito, I ordered the avocado tostada, Julio asked if I wanted chicken or beef I said the menu didn't state there was meat on the entree' the menu stated it was a avocado tostadas, he said I could have meat, I was confused, again I felt rushed. When our food came I was dumbfounded the avocado tostadas had 3 tiny slices of avocado, on a bed of shredded lettuce with nasty tasting microwaved shredded chicken, on a soggy corn tortilla, seriously it was disgusting! My boyfriend's tacos were packaged hard corn tortillas and the tacos were not even filled up to the top, and his mothers burrito was swimming in enchilada sauce. We asked for more salsa to spoon on our dinners, it took 5-6 minutes for it to arrive. WORST FOOD and service I've ever had! I would of complained to the staff but I didn't want to make a scene in front of my boyfriend and his mother. I will never eat at Ranchero Chico ever again! read more

We sat down and were waited on quickly despite a busy lunch crowd and also a birthday party group. Served delicious warm tortilla chips with a fantastic flavorful salsa. I typically like milder salsa but this salsa was a bit warmer and was fantastic. Ordered the enchilada and taco combo with picadillo meat filling and was very pleased. The enchilada was perfect with a sauce that made me crave for more of the sauce and I scrapped the plate clean of sauce. The enchilada was adequately stuffed with the shredded meat and was mouthwatering too. Also came with refried beans and Mexican rice. The refried beans were delicious and had the right amount of melted cheese to top them off. The rice was well prepared and also delicious. This combo was too large for me to eat and I gave my taco to my husband who enjoyed it tremendously. read more

I come from a city that has great Mexican food/ I have high standards and have been on the search for a good spot. I must say this is my go to spot so far for Spokane! I usually get the enchiladas and their house margaritas which always make me happy. The enchiladas are full of meat, cheese, and the sauce has pretty good flavor. I also love the other options that they give then the typically refried beans... I highly recommend trying it out. My husband got the fajitas and he said the portion was awesome, flavor was delicious and left his belly happy. The house margaritas is legit... you get the shaker which is filled to the rim and you get a glass full as well. I mean how many places do that for you at the price they offer?! I also like that it's not overly sweet with the typical store bought mixtures that a lot of places do. The margaritas area huge hit for me, I love them and can't find another place that does it better. Lastly the service is on point- they are super welcoming, very friendly, super fast service even when they are busy and always willing to go the extra mile for their customers. Absolutely love this place! I cannot complain it critique anything... we have been coming here for years - the staff is awesome - food is amazing - and the drinks are the best. This is a family-friendly Mexican restaurant - plain and simple. Whether you're coming here for dinner with the family it just stopping for a margarita after work - this is the place to be!!! I, personally, love their menu. Good, simply complex, and just enough options to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. My personal favorite is the enchilada mole. Out of all of the different recipes I've tried - I can say that nothing compares to Rancho Chico!!! The staff are amazing - honestly over the years they've become like family... so maybe I'm a bit biased - but I have never had anything but exemplary service. They're margaritas are great. Plus you get to do the pour yourself.. not just the one glass!!! So that always makes for a fun evening... plus the price point is just right! This is a regular place for us. If you are a gal and you enjoy kitchen staff yelling across the entire length of the restaurant, "Heyyy chica!" and following that with repeated kissy sounds when you have been in the establishment all of three minutes - then you'll love this place! My family ordered out because of the closure of all the restaurants in the state. They are a family owned small business, and they are doing a wonderful job trying to navigate difficult times. The best part is the food. We ordered 4 entrees, black bean soup and desert. My chicken burrito was great, and not heavy like many other Mexican restaurants. The black bean soup is as good as any I have had, and I used to live in Yuma, AZ. My wife really enjoyed the Fajitas Mixta, and had a hard time keeping my youngest away from her plate! Probably the best endorsement was the quiet we enjoyed while the boys ate everything on the table! To finish, the Tres Leches was wonderful.
