I love ranch side cafe!! It's the most homey restaurant filled with amazing staff and amazing food

This is just such a wonderful off the beaten path restaurant!! The owner is amazing and HIRO the waiter was the best!! If you haven't been here.......take the time to go. Was so surprised to see that there was a restaurant that offered Ethiopian food nearby, and it did not disappoint! The food was super tasty and my cousin picked it up easily. The price was not bad either! The lentil sambusas tasted a bit bland for my liking, I wish there was a hot sauce offered I could dip it in. The injera was also a bit dry, but once you have it with food you could barely notice. read more

Nice service. A little slow but overall friendly comfortable place. We just went here after we went to Angeles crest shooting range. I tried the low carb breakfast burrito- both the turkey one and the steak one. Both were delicious. Surprisingly the turkey one had more flavor. I think partially because the cheese flavor was not as dominant. This place was good and got the job done! They even had Ethiopian food options which I was tempted to try but not today. I do love the charm of this place and appreciate the introduction to Fir Fir, which was fairly tasty. But overall the Ethiopian food here lacked the rich nom nom flavors that you can find on Fairfax. Can't speak for the other food tho! And I truly love the diversity of the menu. It's peak LA. read more

I wish I lived closer to this cafe. I had the best sandwich there. It's the best I've had in a very long time. I would order the same thing every time I went back. I had their ranch side melt with sweet potato fries and my boyfriend had their turkey & bacon melt. We would totally eat there almost everyday if we lived closer. Johannes was very nice. read more

Went Tuesday for some brunch, had the sampler combo with pancakes and eggs and potatoes, best potatoes I've had in my life bonus was the great coffee with free refills. Owner was very kind and even gave us a free chocolate on our way out. It's currently decorated for Easter so very cute right now. Great little restaurant. Their pancakes are amazing and for lunch I always get their Ranch Side Chicken Salad sandwich. So so good!!

Service was excellent and plenty of parking at 12:30 on a Saturday. Plenty of tables available. Coffee was kinda terrible and I paid $2.50 for a cup. It was bottomless but it was not that good. I came from over the hill to try the Ethiopian combo dish. Was a little underwhelmed. One of the 5 items on there was decent and actually had a little kick which I liked. I would've preferred to have the lentils a little more blended. It was a bit chunky. The injera was decent. At least it was healthy. I'll try the chicken tib dish next time. This place has good food and good service. It's weird, though, because no matter what time I come, the place is always mostly empty. They have some vegan options on their Ethiopian menu. The rest is standard faire. There's a nice patio outside to eat. The inside is clean. I'd definitely go before they go out of business. Don't look at their website. It's terrible and does not represent the experience. That's my advice. read more

I just discovered this place when I took on a substitute teaching job and I had a bit of a break. It's partly Ethiopian and partly American but I have breakfasts here. The first time I ate their biscuits and gravy with eggs which were delicious and today their perfectly cooked eggs Benedict with homemade potatoes. Great atmosphere Devore good service and a very homely place. If you're in the area I'd highly recommend it. read more

Next time I should try something simple. My buddy and I tried this before going shooting around the corner from there. The waitress was very pleasant and a delight!! I got the special of Salmon Benedict and I only ate . the sauce was down right terrible. More Mayonnaise tasting then anything. Should of just got a breakfast burrito. it came with country potatoes that need to be revisited. the season was plain tasting and the potatoes tasted like it was cooked yesterday and was staying warm all night. So nice to be able to have Ethiopian food for breakfast! Came here a few weeks ago and it was a nice treat. My daughter and I were headed for a very long 5 hour drive and she's been craving Ethiopian food. This place was on the way and open early. We got the vegetarian plate and a couple lentil sambusa. They have decent amount of veggies and were pretty tasty but the plate only included one injera that the veggies were spread on, so not sure if that's all the injera you get or they just forgot. The lentil sambusa had good flavor but the lentils were a little on the bit hard side (think they could've been cooked longer), so it was messy eating them with the hard lentils spilling all over. Still yummy though! Yes, there are better Ethiopian restaurants out there but the fact that they open so early and the food was decent deserves 4 stars. Will order from them again next time we are passing through or in the area. read more

I'm sitting here eating my leftovers from Ranch Side Café and thinking I need to leave a review because this Ethiopian food is so delicious! I'm eating the Ethiopian Fir Fir breakfast special... the flavors are amazing! My sister had the Ethiopian Chicken and the flavors were completely different (sweet and yummy!) and absolutely wonderful (try it on the rice and get the injera on the side)! We didn't realize they had Ethiopian food at this café (we've had their Mexican food which is also excellent) but this has got to be the best Ethiopian in Los Angeles. We will definitely be back... very soon!!! A huge thanks to the sweetest and most attentive server ever, Michelle, and to the owner Zee, who brought us out our food personally after she prepared it. She is so warm hearted and beautiful! We highly, highly, highly recommend this cafe and recommend tantalizing your taste buds with Ethiopian food. You won't regret it! read more

I really liked the delicious blueberry pancakes! My kids had French toast and waffles. Everything was good. Turkey sausage was an option which isn't always available at other places. We will definitely be back to try different things on the menu. Our waitress/server was nice and the food came out quickly. I will ask for eggs over medium next time instead of over easy because i wish they were a little more cooked. Just a personal preference for next time. read more

I ordered the ham, cheese, and avocado omelette made from egg whites, with French fries and a side waffle. I had coffee and water to drink. The egg white omelette came destroyed, doesn't look like an omelette, more like a scramble. It tasted a bit off and I couldn't figure out why. The fries were cold from the moment they got here. I only got a coffee refill when i asked for it, not once did they check if i needed more. Which is not that big of a deal, they were busy, but it's strange to have to ask for that. The waffle was just a waffle, nothing bad about it, but nothing great about it either. This is rather disappointing because the entire restaurant was packed so i was hopeful that i found an amazing place. The decor is nice though, i really liked the wall murals. I probably won't come back here. Originally this was going to be a 2 start review. But asi was writing this I Found out from a couple foodie friends that the reason the omelette was like that was that the egg whites were likely old, which also explains the flavor. read more
