Wendill's Chicken House is really a Thai place. Not fancy, very clean. The star is their fried chicken. If the batter was seasoned, you could swear you were biting into a piece of Pioneer Chicken. IYKYK - Such a satisfying crunch and juicy chicken. Worth the 20 min wait for freshly fried chicken. We will have to come back for the Thai food.

If you're craving crispy fried chicken with a side of Pad Thai, then you need to check out Wendill's Chicken House. This is the oldest restaurant in the SFV and their fried chicken is a must order. Wendill's Chicken House is located in Pacoima at the corner of San Fernando Road and Goleta St. This a casual neighborhood dining option serving comfort thai food in the same restaurant space that has been open since 1929. The signature dish is of course Wendill's Old Fashioned Fried Chicken which is cooked fresh (25 min wait), served in 4 pieces and must be eaten with their sweet and sour sauce. For only $12, this is a such a great deal. All the staff here are really kind and treat each customer like a regular. It's important we continue to support local and small businesses so if you happen to be in the northeast side of the 818, I highly recommend stopping in.

Well I've lived in the valley for almost 3 years now and I've always passed by this place along San Fernando and haven't had the chance to come here but one day I did and I'm glad i did. First off I want to say I didn't know they were not only known for Thai Food but for fried chicken as shown by the yelpers here. Next time I go in definitely gonna get their fried chicken. Well this place I have to say is special once I stepped in here and saw the place from the inside I just knew it was special. The menu with pictures postered up on the walls, the aroma of the Thai food being cooked in the kitchen being whisked into the dining room and I loved it! It reminded me of another Thai restaurant I always frequented growing up and this had the same feel and ambiance! The service was great the lady who takes the orders is also the one who wheels it out to you on their cart which is great! I got the shrimp taquitos which is basically a fried shrimp wonton a sort of Thai play on a Mexican taquito. You have to have it with the sriracha and the honey such a great combo of sauces onto the taquito not to mention it was nice and crunchy and fluffy on the inside too! I will say a bit pricey for the amount you get but it's good nonetheless. I also got their pad siu ew because that is my go to at every Thai restaurant and wow this was as I expected, grand! The right amount of veggies, meats, eggs and the spicy vinegar to top it off was perfection! I also got a Thai tea and man I have to say most of the time when I have Thai tea it's either too sweet or not sweet enough and this was a Goldilocks moment which was just right! I think this place falls into the hidden gem category even though it's not so hidden because it's right across the railroad tracks off San Fernando but it has that feel and charm. I'm happy to have finally tried it and I definitely am coming back to try other stuff! Thank you for having me! 5 stars for me!

This is a nice place to eat for a quick bite. It's not extravagant by any means, but If you like to see planes take off, it brings out a different vibe to an ordinary meal. The service was on point and polite. The chicken and shrimp rolls were hot. The sauce for the shrimp rolls looks deceiving but it's absolutely delicious. My chicken, was chicken and batter, nothing more, nothing less. Nothing grand about it. But with the "golden" shrimp roll sauce it was elevated a little bit. One aspect I did not enjoy was the amount of grease, but I'm pretty sure they were more concerned with serving me, so this time it's ok. Fries, me being harsh, were nothing worth craving. Temp was off, tasted a bit older or colder, and that's that. That's what I get for playing it safe. After I heard a local order his usual. I should have went with that, "pad se ew, with pork." Next time I guess. I'll definitely update my experience on the next visit.

    8pc mild with fries

Growing up in the valley, I remember seeing this place before but never stopped by until I saw a TikTok video on their fried chicken. We were driving back from SCV and decided to place an online order for pick up. We chose the 8pc mild spice meal that comes with french fries and although the website says it comes with a salad as well, it does not. The minute we picked up the chicken, we knew it was gonna be good. It smelled and looked delicious! The batter is light, yet crispy. The chicken is not greasy at all. I do have to say, the amount of fries was only enough for maybe 1 person. Overall, we're glad we finally tried Wendill's!

4 Wendill's Old Fashioned Fried Chicken

I ordered the 4-piece fried chicken, and it was disappointing. It lacked flavor from the first bite and wasn't seasoned at all. The batter was also much too heavy, overpowering the chicken. The service was average--nothing memorable--and the restaurant was clean. Unfortunately, I wouldn't go back. I'd definitely skip the fried chicken.

Food was amazing! Great taste & flavor! Fast and good, worker very nice and friendly!

When we got there, there were only a few tables with guests in the whole restaurant, likely because we got there at 8pm and they close at 9pm. But we stood at the front for a few minutes before anyone greeted us, and when we finally were "greeted", a man just came up to us and looked at us with confusion and didn't say anything, just raised his eyebrows. I said, "Hi! We have 5 adults. May we sit outside please?" He said sure and guided us outside to our table with not much said. We waited quite a while before a server came over to us, and it ended up being the same guy that brought us to the table originally. He came over to us and said, "Drinks?" It was sort of awkward how unwelcome we felt. That was pretty much our entire experience with the server: very slow service, and very few words. Once we put our food order in, we grabbed the Uno deck at a neighboring table to play until the food came out. That was actually really fun! But we waited for the food for so long - playing multiple games of Uno with 5 people and still not having our food. It was painful - especially since it seemed there was not much going on around us. Our hope was the food would be a saving grace here to our first time experience at this restaurant, but unfortunately it was not. My father-in-law liked his salmon dish, and my husband said the steak melt was decent, rating it at a 6.5-7/10. My mother-in-law said she liked her French dip, but barely touched it. My sister-in-law's short ribs had way too much sauce on it and too much salt, so she could not finish hers either because of that. My truffle burger was overwhelmed by blue cheese to the point where you could not taste anything else, so I also could not finish mine because of that. In the end, we all spoke about it and the highlight for our family was that they had Uno available for tables to play. But unfortunately we all agreed we would never be back.

The brewery has two sides of indoor seating as well as outdoor seating. It was way too hot to sit outdoors when we came, but we were able to easily find a spot on the left side. I assume they have bands performing here sometimes, as there was a whole set of drums plus a mic on the stage. All their beers are clearly listed on the wall at the bar, plus there's a limited selection of cider and wine as well. I had a light lager called the Van Ice ($8 for 16 oz). I'm generally not a huge beer fan and prefer lighter beers that aren't bitter, so this was perfect for me. In general, I think everyone liked their beers. My friend got a really interesting one called the White Rascal that was a little bit sweet. I've never tried a beer like it before. We also ordered some food to share. We got the cheese bread ($6) as well as two pizzas: birria ($20) and bbq chicken ($18). The pizzas were thin crust. I personally liked the bbq chicken more (minus the pickled onions), but both were good. They also offer a hump day special on Wednesdays (their version of happy hour I guess?) from 4-7, where you can get $3 off their in-house beers and $3 off garage cans (assume that means canned beer). That seems like a good time to check them out.
