I finally stumbled across Titan and had them come out for a look. They could do both the block and wood and their quote blew away everyone else I had gathered quotes from. They showed up right on schedule and got to work on the fence. We hit a snag or two but nothing major and the project took a few days longer than expected but it got done and the workmanship is excellent. If this sounds familiar and you've been beating your head against the wall trying to find an experienced, knowledgeable, hard working, licensed contractor, we would like to recommend Greenberg Construction. Bruce Greenberg and his wife Jen recently removed and replaced our deck and they did an amazing job. They didn't shy away from our desire to use Ipe, a Brazilian hardwood that is VERY difficult to work with because it has a hardness rating similar to concrete. They had never worked with Ipe before, but Bruce did a lot of research in advance of starting our job. It was an extremely difficult job, but they both had a wonderful, upbeat attitude throughout the project and approached it as a challenge they would conquer (which they did). From the planning stages through the final broken drill bit (I'm not kidding when I say this wood is REALLY hard), they went out of their way to make sure the job was done right. Watching them work it was obvious to us that they take a lot of pride in their work and they do not take shortcuts or recommend something that may not look as nice just because it might be easier. In fact, there were a few times Bruce made suggestions that he thought might look a bit better, even though it meant more work for them. He never pressured us to go one way or another - he occasionally offered ideas based on his years of experience, but all decisions were ours to make. In addition to building a strong, beautiful deck that we can enjoy for the rest of our lives, Bruce and Jen were always good about keeping the job site clean and they are both a pleasure to have around. I've attached a few pictures of the finished product so you can see what a nice job they did. We highly recommend them for whatever your construction project might be....but right now they are updating one of our bathrooms, so you're gonna have to get in line!
