I really want to support a local business, but Heat Source makes that painful. When I called to schedule a chimney cleaning, the person on the phone was short & unfriendly. She told me a day, but not a time. I asked for even just a time window and was told no. The evening before the chimney cleaning I was called and told the time they'd arrive. Unfortunately I wasn't available at that time, and they had no other times available that day. Their next available date wasn't for several more weeks. I accepted that date, but told them the window of time that I was unavailable that day. Like the time before, they only called me the evening before to let me know what time they'd arrive. That's a pain. I am a planner, and can't have my whole day free just to find out the night before what time they'll be there. The person who tried to clean my chimney couldn't figure out how to access it. And then eventually told me I was responsible for paying him hourly while he tried to problem solve how to access the chimney to actually clean it. In the end, he had my spouse go on the roof to help. That's not what I was paying for. On another encounter of trying to support this local business, I walked into Heat Source with the hope of buying a wood stove accessory. When I walked in I was greeted by a seated employee who hollered out "How can I help you?" When I found her, I asked if they had the thing I was looking for, and the response was a curt no and then a disinterested turn of the body away from me to indicate I could leave. Wow. Not a good way to endear a customer to their business, nor to encourage a customer to support them. I'll take my business elsewhere - there are chimney businesses in Lancaster/Rosamond, and I can order my wood stove accessories on Amazon or out of town at a big box store. And some day when I'm ready for a new wood stove, I'll go elsewhere. read more

Recently, Peyton and Jason from Heat Source came to our home in BVS to perform a Chimney Sweep and to service our wood stove. These guys really know their profession and went out of their way to ensure our flue and stove were clean and in good working order. There were some issues with the door latch and door seal on the stove and Peyton was full of information on how to resolve them in short order. They showed up on time and had an award winning attitude. These guys were friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, full of good information and as a result, an excellent value. During the conversations while they were cleaning up, I learned the Heat Source team also service and install rain gutters. They took a few extra minutes to understand and resolve a downspout problem I was having on their way out. It was great! I couldn't be happier with the 5 Star service I received. Got a call the day of the appointment from the technician and he told me they don't work on our brand of pellet stoves. This would have been good information two weeks prior when I made the appointment. Go with Chimney Sweeps instead for any pellet stove issues. read more

Excellent job!!! I had someone come out from the Heat Source and look at my gas log fireplace. He explained that that was not something that they did. When I followed up, they showed me some great choices for replacement. Today, they came out and installed a BEAUTIFUL insert. It is safe, clean, and keeps me warm. My pellet stove would not light. The technician, George or Gary, can't remember, came out and cleaned the unit and troubleshooted the problem. I called this shop asking for a quote to install a wood stove I had purchased else where. The person on the phone had no clue of their procedures. She took my name, address and number then told me someone would come out the following week to give me a bid. I waited all week, nobody showed or called. I called them back asking if someone was still coming? The same girl told me her boss said they do not install stoves they don't sell. They could have told me this in the beginning so I could have found another company to do it so my family would not freeze any longer due to that was our only source of heat. Twice I have tried to deal with this business and twice the arrogant attitude has resulted in no calls back, no visit from a "technician" and work undone leaving me to have to go to Bakersfield to get fireplace/chimney work done. This is the worst business on the mountain and they have the worst public service attitude I have seen in a long time. I waited till the next fire season before rating The Heat Source because I wanted to make sure my happiness with them lasted. It has. About April 2015I started looking for a pellet stove. I concluded my search at The Heat Source. The in-store representative set the high standards that the rest of their crews held to. (Sorry, can't find where I wrote her name) She was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Then Kenny came out to my home and measured and gave me a price. I had an old open fireplace with and insert that all had to be removed, and the wall refurbished. His subcontractors did and excellent job of preparing the work site for the new stove. His installation crew (Eric and Anthony) were very professional and informative and helpful in guiding my knowledge about the pellet stove. Their workmanship was excellent and precise and tidy. In fact they were extreme careful and successful about protecting my floors and furnishings. They completed the installation 9/26/2015. I am also very pleased with my new Lopi APG stove. The quiet hum of the motors are quite comforting on a cold winter's morning, day and nighttime too. If you are looking for any type of fireplace, call The Heat Source, you'll be glad you did.
