Great location for pre united Center events, and there is a shuttle to get you there. The pizza is always good, thin crispy crust, cut into squares. You may have to fight for the crispy corners. Plenty of specialty pizzas and create your own to choose from. The salads are good, and can feed multiple people. The service is good and there are plenty of TVs with all the sporting events. As a UM alum I was somewhat sad to hear West End closed as it was an official UM game watching bar for years, but the spot didn't really miss a beat with 4C's swap to Ranalli's. The space and layout remain the same, though they gave it a nice refresh with lightened up (white) paint and additional TV's, many that play hilarious captions as you dine. The food is delish and if you've ever eaten at the Lincoln Park location you'll know what to expect. Solid pizza menu with a variety of pies and salads and sandwiches. We dined before an event at the United Center (Sir Elton John!), and while the place was packed they handled the crowd well and even offer a free shuttle to the UC! The ambience was fun as they were pumping out some Elton John music plus other artists of similar genres and the old boomers around us in sequined jackets were enjoying it, as were we. Last but certainly not least the staff here ROCKS. When we walked in without reservations we weren't greeted with a "no reservations eyeroll" but instead a super friendly hostess who ensured us she'd make it work...she hustled to the check the bars and back for two seats and quickly found us a table. One thing remains consistently excellent - the pizza. It's always delicious, with their pan pizza being the true hidden gem on the menu. i want to begin the review with saying the service was awesome; from the servers through the busboys. food was okay disregarding the hair we found in our kids' pizza. However, my 1 star review is based entirely on a person i imagine to be the manager. when we walked in, he rudely told us that we had an hour to be done as the restaurant was booked due to a UC event: totally fair. However, at 51 minutes into our arrival, as we were already wrapping up, the manager? came over and told us it was time to leave. we very quickly got out of the spot, as quickly as possible and - as i was leaving - i mentioned to the manager that he had allowed us 51 min vs 1 hour and he flipped out. he came out of the restaurant to tell me that he had said we had 10 minutes (he didn't) and then told me that it isn't his fault i didn't listen to him. not only was that a lie, he came out of his way to antagonize. when i confronted him back, he criticized my parenting and was altogether unbelievably rude. 100% don't recommend this place as you can expect to be treated like garbage and chased down like an animal by management. as an aside, the guy in question is a shorter, stocky, brown haired guy wearing a backwards hat. read more

What a surprisingly great meal we all had tonight. Kid pizza for the 6 year old plus some apple juice. But then the Watermelon/Tomatoes/Feta/Balsamic and Lime salad was shockingly good. Everyone loved it. We split a Smash Burger that was highly impressive, regular fries and sweet potato fries and a gluten-free pizza. Service was perfect. Love this place. The pizza tastes great! the ambiance is relaxed. The servers are attentive and courteous. You walk in and grab a table. The server comes quickly to serve you drinks and take your order. It's thin crust pizza and delicious. Our first time going there, we could not find any seats due to a basketball game. The next time we went, it was for early dinner, was able to find seats. we had their "hot honey soppressata, and Ranalli's special with no green peppers" Both were great. We had our daughters baptism luncheon here and had such high hopes because we love the Lincoln Park location. We worked with Bridget in planning and seemed great until the day of when we arrived to setup and everything went downhill. Anna was the on-site person that day and we were met with a horrible attitude, eye-rolling and no support. We were told we would have help setting up and this never happened. We were moving tables and chairs by ourselves as she quickly made herself scarce and was nowhere to be found. We had guests arriving at 2:30pm and instead of being welcomed and shown to the room, they sat at the bar and had to pay for drinks (we had paid for the bar) because no one even showed them where to go... and they wouldn't know to go to the room because there was absolutely no indication that was where the party was because no food or bartender were present! Over an HOUR after start time is when the appetizers started to come out (along with all of the pizza at the same time) and that was because we had to ask 3 times to start having the food brought out. The bartender did not start serving until 30 minutes after start time (he was the only helpful person that day) so guests had to go to the main bar to purchase drinks (despite us having already paid for food and drinks for our party). Anna NOT ONCE checked in with us the entire party to see if we needed anything and when she did make an appearance to clear plates, it was with the worst possible attitude and non hospitable presence. Disappointed is the West Loop location, solely for the poor execution and horrible customer service from the on-site staff (aside from the bartender who was great). Food and drinks were wonderful, aside from the extreme delay in getting them out to guests. If you're planning a party, do yourself a favor and go to the Lincoln Park location. read more

This is a great sports bar/pizza restaurant to go to with a group of people! They have tons of seating and TVs indoors playing multiple sports games. We opted to sit outdoors, which is also a nice option for just wanting to talk and catch up with friends. We ordered garlic knots and cheese curds to share as appetizers. Both were super tasty, but not very large portions. Then we ordered one cheese pan pizza and one thin crust cheese. I was surprised with the quality! This was a very forgettable pizza. The meats were of high quality, but other than that nothing stood out. The cheese was average, the crust was average, and there wasn't enough sauce to determine if the sauce was good or not. This was a very dry pizza. If I ever order from here again I'd get extra sauce or sauce in the side. This pizza wasn't cheap as it should been for how basic it was. Ranalli's is a great spot to pre or post game your evening, while you are on your way to watch the Blackhawks or the Bulls at the United Center. The place is lively and the food is a cut above compared to surrounding restaurants at this price point. They have a free shuttle that takes you to and from the UC. What more could you ask for?!? Thinly disguised as a pizzeria, most of the entrées are Italian-based... The pizzas are a higher end product then you're going to get at your typical corner pizzeria. We had the meat lovers pizza, the prosciutto and arugula pizza, and hot Honey soprestta pizza. All three of these were delicious. We also ordered some appetizers and large salads for the table to share. I was hosting some customers for the Hawks game, and they were all from out of town. They loved Ranalli's. The service was fantastic - prompt and friendly. Although the place was very crowded, we didn't wait long for either food or drinks. It's kind of loud in the restaurant, but you're on your way to a Blackhawks game... If you are looking for someplace quiet and intimate, this isn't it. I'm finally checking out Ranalli's specifically their west loop location. They have a huge variety of drinks, tons of TV's to watch sports, and even has a free shuttle to and from games at the United Center. I liked the chicken tenders the most since they were crispy and not oily at all. For the main event, we ordered the Hot Honey Soppressata Pan Pizza which I really enjoyed. I first encountered Ranalli's when I lived at Lincoln and Webster back in LP, early 2000's, and iirc all good. I moved out of that area shortly thereafter and went a solid decade plus without doing Ranalli's again. Until about three years ago when our Small Group met at some friends living near the LP location. This was our go-to pizza place and all the memories of how delicious this pizza establishment was, came flooding back. Probably the best BBQ Chicken pizza out there. The Hot Honey equally good as is the traditional combo of sausage, onion, mushroom and green pepper. Kick it off with a salad? Be rude not to and I'd confidently recommend their Greek and Italian versions. A final note, after getting delivery from their new West Loop location a few times, I noticed a sorta weird phenomenon. Totally was looking forward to this joint, but i must say, we haven't been off to the greatest start. I'll start with the good: The food here is fire. Especially the chicken tenders. The pizza, salad, and fries are bangers too. The space itself is nice. Roomy, plenty of TV's. Nice bathrooms. I dig that little phone charging station they have near the restroom area. That's all I got so far. The bad: The staff is kind of a tire fire. Of the handful of times we've eaten here, we've had one really cool bartender, & met an awesome employee who was there on her night off enjoying drinks at the bar next to us. So that doesn't even count. The rest of the staff has ranged from terrible to just alright. The same way I wish Twitter had an edit button, I wish Ranalli's hired consistently GOOD staff so I didn't have qualms about dining in. As is, I have to mentally prepare for slow service or the possibility of being ignored altogether. read more

Came here last night with a group for National Pizza Day and for their BOGO pizza to celebrate the occasion. Wound up getting 4 specialty pizzas, meat lover, buffalo chicken, prosciutto & arugula, and hot honey soppressata. All were very good. Nice crisp crust and plenty of toppings. Arugula one was my favorite and the soppressata was very good as well, just the right amount of spicy flavor to it. Good draft selection and service was on top of things as well. Interior very similar to when it was West End but the painted white bricks really does brighten the place up in a good way. read more

I love the west loop one though because the layout and design of the restaurant really brought it to the next level. For example, they have booths that have 2 TVs that you can change. Cool new spot in the west loop but coolness doesn't equate to good pizza here. Like the ambiance, location and well that's about it. Chicago has so many great pizza establishments so you need to bring your pizza "A" game if you're looking to serve chicagoans! The pizza itself was more chewy than anything with very little cheese on it. I just felt I kept chewing and chewing and chewing! Maybe if they thin the dough out a little more and create a tavern style pizza with more cheese it would make a huge difference. This is just my opinion and experience, but we have pizza 2-3 times a week, so I feel I'm a good judge of pizza! I would go here for drinks and maybe apps but skip the pizza for other Chicago pizza institutions. 2 stars for the pizza but 5 stars for ambiance and decor! read more
