Ramuntos, I think, is a family owned chain in Vermont and New Hampshire. I always thought the ones local to me in Lebanon, NH made the best Sicilian pizza. Thick, chewy crust topped with mounds of whatever topping was ordered, or available by the slice. I stopped at the Bennington VT restaurant after a long drive and ordered a slice of Sicilian. While it wasn't bad, the crust was not as thick and the topping not as abundant as I'm used to. Overall, my craving for pizza was satisfied, but I can't give it 5 stars because other Ramuntos do it better. read more

Ramunto's Pizza opened up a new location in the former Alldays & Onions space. They have several independently owned and operated locations throughout VT and NH. I've enjoyed the pizza at the other Ramunto's locations in NH (Hanover and Lebanon). This Ramunto's serves up New York and Sicilian pizzas (by the slice & pie), calzones, hot & cold hoagies, pasta, salads, appetizers, Coke beverages, and desserts. A children's menu is available and lunch specials on the blackboard are offered Mon-Fri until 3PM including 2 specialty pizza slices and a soft drink for $5. 20 beers on tap and wine by the glass are also offered. The prices here are moderate and the pizza prices tend to be on the higher side, starting at $12.95 for a large 16" cheese pizza and $15.99 for a Sicilian pizza. The place was fairly busy on a Monday night. The place is cozy and casual which has finished picnic table seating in the front dining area and a bar section. Also noted, the other Ramunto's locations I've been to use brick ovens, while this location uses conventional pizza ovens (hence no "Brick Oven" in the name). The selection of specialty pizza slices behind the glass counter was pretty good. I decided to order 2 specialty slices (1 NY pizza slice and 1 Sicilian pizza slice) for carryout. The pizza slices were not huge and warmed up quickly in the oven and the total came out to $5.45 with tax. Both pizza slices tasted good, but definitely could've been hotter temperaturewise. The NY slice was topped with sundried tomatoes, grilled chicken, pepperoni, broccoli, red sauce, and plenty of cheese (browned on top), the crust was thicker and soft along the edge, and firm and thin towards the point. The Sicilian pizza slice was topped with green peppers, onions, ground sausage, black olives, sauce and plenty of melted cheese on top, the thick crust was crisp on the bottom and soft inside with a dry texture. Overall, the pizza slices at this location were decent and counter service was very prompt. read more

I was a little hard about my last review. I have tried Ramuntos!!!!! Over and over... I just do not order the sausage on my pizza. The salads are good, wings are yummy!!. I eaten in and have used the delivery services; both are nice. I hear the fried ravioli is delicious. read more

Great pizza place for a small town that doesn't have much going on. Order by slice or get a whole pizza. They also have a nice little bar inside too. We got a couple slices (pepperoni and white sun dried tomato with spinach and feta). Both were very good. Pretty New Yorky which surprised us. We also ordered the wings which were decent as well and the garlic knots which were delicious. Service is quick and prices are reasonable. Solid place. read more

Let me present my credentials: I was born in Parkchester, The Bronx and lived in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan so I know what I'm talking about when the subject is thin crust pizza. We discovered Ramunto's by accident about a year ago and have been back many times. All we eat are the pizzas; cannot critique anything else. Ramunto's is a pizzeria but it is also a sports bar and a neighbourhood bar. Curiously enough it's also a family restaurant and on Sunday a brunch for people out of church. It can be loud and it can be full of rug rats. However, if you want authentic NYC thin crust pizza and not Vermont-style bisquick pizza, don't miss Ramunto's. The aroma of the crust is sublime; the sauce is borderline sweet (not sugar sweet like bisquick pizza). All the rules and regs of Covid-19 are scrupulously observed. The pizza used to be good when the original owners were there. It has gone down hill. There are too many pizza cooks, some not knowing what a good pizza is. It is hit or miss, mostly miss. I have given it try recently and it has gotten worse. The pizza is too thin and the cheese is sometimes not present. I will not be going there again. read more

Stopped in after a long road trip and instantly saw why this was such a favorite place. Lots of different pizza options; stellar garlic knots; other Italian classics; and most importantly, that "Cheers" kind of feel. Would definitely return if I'm in the area again! read more

This place is so popular. I arrived with a group at 5pm and the place was filled with families and kids. By the time we left at 8, the kids had left and the groups of 20 and 30 year olds filled the place. I can see why it is so popular. It has an incredibly broad beer selection, although sadly it had only one cider. While I cannot drink beer, the group that I was with did and enjoyed many different kinds and types. There are three types of pizza with many different topping types. I ate the carmelized onion burger. It was amazing. They use local beef from a nearby market. It was scrumptious. Oh, and don't forget to dip your garlic knots in the sauce. You won't regret it. read more

Had their New York thin crust pizza for first time. Not a lot of flavor and they were very skimpy on the toppings. Would not order again. Personal were efficient, nice cozy atmosphere. Stopped by on a road trip that took us through Bennington. Pizza was decent, not bad but not anything special. The restaurant was a little bit dirty but it was a Sunday evening so it might have just been due to messy customers throughout the day. I might be missing something but I didn't see a brick oven anywhere in sight. Just standard pizza ovens which I found kind of weird given their name. Overall it seems like a good, friendly local pizza joint but I've had better pizza, especially in Vermont! read more

I thought I would try the Bennington location before writing anything. This location is no better than Rutland. I ordered a white pie with extra ricotta and mozzarella with spinach and tomatoes. It was dry, bland and considering I paid for extra cheeses, lacking cheese. For a thin crust pizza, it was thick an doughy. I only had slices heated up. Both were excellent. Had a deep dish slice that was the best deep dish slice at any Ramuntos I've been in. The regular slice was solid. $6 for both slices and a soda. Steal. read more

Really bummed about having to write this review but after three recent bad experiences over as many weeks I would not recommend. If you come in for a simple slice there is a huge display of almost always freshly made pizza on the top row, when you order your slice(s) they pull it from a lower row where they appear to keep the several hours old mummified remains of pizza's past. And since it's October 2020 Covid precautions should be in full effect, unfortunately this is not even moderately the case. Quick fix: management needs to come in and set/enforce rules in place, throw out old pizza's after several hours or so, and follow your state's basic covid procedures. read more

In town a few weeks ago doing some house-hunting and after day 1 of hunting (9 houses!) we got a pie from this spot. My sentimentality made it hard to commit since I always loved Alldays & Onions when living in Bennington years ago but I was talking into it. Actually, I don't know if I had a choice. I'm a New Yorker so I don't understand the whole toppings thing - we went with plain cheese, ordered some garlic knots, and enjoyed with a two liter of coke, the way pizza is supposed to be enjoyed. Gotta say: not bad! Not bad at all. The crust was crisp, the sauce was balanced, the pie had oregano (pizza without oregano is like a Jewish Pope), and it was cooked exactly right. I'm looking forward to going INTO the restaurant because the beer list is pretty good from what I've heard. While we haven't attended yet, we have Ramunto's Trivia Nights on our to do list for once we're back in town. The other food is supposed to be good, too, but I think I'll stick to the plain cheese pie... it's impossible to get a good one of those out here in the midwest! read more

Went here with the family last night. We had various items, linquini, ziti, calzone, wings and garlic knots. The food was excellent, in our opinion. Sauce on the pasta was very tasty, and you can order any toppings you want with it, along with one protien. I got roasted reds, mushrooms, black olives and sausage. Most excellent. The only reason I dropped one star is that you have to pay twice for food at the counter and drinks at the bar, rather than one ticket, and because it's unclear whether you get your own utensils or not. These things could be easily handled by the restaurant and would make for a much nicer experience, if they had a POS system that handled it (maybe they do, but don't use it, or want to). Garlic-y NY style pizza with a good VT selection of beers. A good bar for Bennington's small downtown. Nothing to rave about, nothing to complain about. Strong local presence here. The best Ramunto's of all time is the Rutland, VT location. For some reason, the pizza is far better at that location. read more

My wife and I were in the midst of a long drive home from a family trip with our two girls, aged 8 and 10. We wanted pizza, had been in the car 3 1/2 hours, and Bennington was the best place to stop on the way to find it, right on the main drag downtown. We also wanted t keep our spending down, if possible. We found Ramunto's on the web, and it was awesome. Thin-crust NY-style pizza, self-serve fountain drinks, and good-sized salads and calzones. They have a very good lunch special: 7 days a week, you get two cheese slices and a free refill fountain soda for $3.50. M-F, same deal, except you can two specialty slices, and it is $5. The two slices will be large - almost certainly enough for most adults, and definitely enough for any kid. We ordered a large Greek salad, as well, and at $6.50, we felt it was a very good value. My wife and I were able to take about 1/3 each of it, and my kids split the other third, and we were satisfied with our portions as a pre-pizza salad. All of it was very tasty. There is free on-street parking, right on Main Street (Rt. 9) downtown. The ambiance is very casual. About half of the floor space is for a bar, with two big TVs that had football games on. Although we didn't have any beer on this visit, I was impressed by the variety of beers on tap, and would definitely come back for a dinner if I was in the area sometime. You can eat at the bar. The other half of the customer area is a number of finished picnic tables, plus several traditional four-seat square tables. There are two more big TVs, which also had football on. It is not a sports bar, per se, but the ambiance, posters, etc., are very sports-centric. The bar was about full, with eight or 10 people clearly taking their time, watching football, and socializing. Definitely local residents. The dining room had several families and small groups of teenagers , none of them terribly interested in the football games. The service was very good. The pizza came out very quickly, fresh from the oven, and the young woman who took our order was very friendly. The bill for four lunch specials and a large Greek salad was $22 - you can't beat that. My only complaint is that the football games were extremely loud. It is not a very big place, but the volume was VERY high, to the point where my wife and kids were getting annoyed. I am a huge football fan, and even I was a little annoyed by the level of volume. A very small thing, though, for an excellent restaurant - highly recommended for families, couples, or an individual looking to have a relaxing, casual meal in a friendly, local environment. Really not NY pizza. Not thin, not crispy, the crust is too doughy, definitely not NY and definitely not good. I guess for where you are it's as good as your gonna get. Staff was pretty rude, House salad looked dirty, hot wings were ok and I already told you about the pizza. It's a serve yourself drinks and order at the counter joint but they bring the food to the table. Food is good, but the staff not so much. Whenever I go in there it's almost like they're annoyed to help me. That's if you can get help, sometimes their personal conversations are more important. My husband won't drink there anymore because the bartender, I believe named Danielle is not anywhere near what Lonnie once was. He was ignored for quite some time before finally getting a drink. Decent pizza place in a sleepy town. Ordered the spinach dip appetizer, half salad, and large meat-lovers pizza. The cashier warned us the spinach would take a while, but we were in no rush. The spinach dip was GIGANTIC - could have been a meal. The pizza was adequate - not bad, not amazing. Good beer selection and bar area. Main complaint is the lack of table service - makes ordering confusing. Order your food up front, open a tab so you can order beer at the bar, you're on your own as far as refills, napkins, silverware, etc. Go back to the cashier when you're ready to leave... etc. Just a lot of work for the customer. read more

The picnic style benches are crowded into a main dining area. You order at the counter, get your own beverage, and bus your own table. You pay at the time of ordering. We went on a Saturday night and it was quite crowded, making it a pain to squeeze past other people to get drinks, etc. My house salad was good, the cheese pizza was hot, gooey and delicious, but I'm not fond of this setup at a sit down restaurant. I'd rather relax, be served and tip appropriately. It was $100 for 6 of us(2 of those kids under 12.) My husband tipped 20 % before knowing quite how self serve the place was, though. It's loud, at least at the peak time we went, so I'll say good for kids but not good for conversation. read more

My family and I stopped here on our way home from our ski weekend, and the food was delicious! As New Yorkers, we are very particular about our pizza, but we loved the pizza here. We ordered a whole bunch of dishes for the table so everyone got to taste a bunch of stuff. The chicken wings were phenomenal, the ones we got had this great crispy garlic coating. The meatballs were homemade and filled with flavor. They tasted like an italian grandmother prepared them! I LOVED the steak bomb sandwich. Definitely give that one a try. We finished the meal with these cinnamon knots that I haven't stopped thinking about, they melt in your mouth, and they are pretty addicting. The bar has a huge selection of Beers on tap, and the prices were great. We will definitely be coming back here on our next Vermont trip :) read more

My husband and I LOVE Ramuntos!! We find ourselves here frequently. The pizza is crispy, new york style. The specialty pizza options are all good, but my favorite has to be the plain cheese. The calzones are HUGE. Enough for 2-3 people. Overall awesome place for a beer and a slice, or a full family dinner. read more
