This shop referred me out to a European car repair shop because Ramsey was not able to properly diagnose my Volkswagen. They didn't even try they just referred me out. So I called triple A and had them tow it (less than 4 miles) to the new shop. Anyway, unbenounced to me, they told the new shop that I didn't pay for repairs done at their shop that they did on my car. If that was the case why did they give me my car back without payment and then refer me to this new shop? And even if i didn't, why would you tell the new shop? So they can overcharge me and get them a cut? I don't know. It's just weird and unprofessional. read more

Once in a while you're fortunate to come across a business that just nails it - in every way. Ramsey Auto Center is one of the rare ones! Honestly, 5 stars isn't enough. This will be long...but worthy... as they did so much that is important to all of us it's impossible to keep it to a few sentences. We moved here from Chicago, and left a mechanic we'd had for years, having to start over finding places to trust. We had three major repairs needed in the three years and know we got taken advantage of (basically robbed) on all three. When our truck failed emissions we were thrilled with the Arizona $900 credit to get the repairs made. Had to slow our roll when Sun Devil called and said it would cost almost $4000 to get it to pass. We told them to hold off and checked with two other places... both over $2k. (I'm posting a Sun Devil review so people know exactly what to watch for there.) Basically, we had been lied to multiple times by different businesses, and would have believed those lies if we hadn't made that one last effort to verify. Please note: We had ONE error code show up that referred to ONE plug. We stumbled on Ramsey and are so glad we did! A few major differences in Ramsey vs other places: * It's a family business with a very low turnover rate. * Mike (an owner) talks directly with you and explains EVERYTHING. * Initial phone call gave us an approximate price under $1,000. * Physical inspection held to that, and final cost was under $1000. * Mike was totally available and transparent in every communication with us. Answered every question we had, and we had a lot of them after our pre-Ramsey experiences. * He told us we did NOT need all six plugs and coils. Nor did we need any of the other things the other places said we did. * The truck was there and completed exactly when they said it would be. We ended up having them look at another issue - one we had supposedly had fixed by Gruelich last year - but definitely wasn't corrected. Gruelich did almost $2000 in brake work and then told us the problem was probably just some air in the line that had to be worked out. Ramsey found it was absolutely not air in the line - and was something Gruelich didn't even address. (Sorry, I'm a female who can't remember the part - and my husband isn't here to help.) They fixed it at a very reasonable price - on time. Bottom line, this place is an hour drive from our house and we will make that drive without hesitation every time we need work done in the future. Besides having outstanding customer service, being fair and honest, doing great work on-time, and pricing far better than anyplace else we compared to - they are just incredibly nice to deal with. An all around fabulous business that we could use more of! Not the cheapest, and certainly not the highest. # 4 They must do the work quickly and efficiently # 5 They must stand behind the work they do I was referred to Ramseys Auto Center, in Glendale, AZ, from someone who had been going there all of their lives. The owner Larry was very disrespectful to me when I decided not to go further with fixing my car with him after he gave me a unreasonable quote .The only reason I decided to go back to this place in the first place was ,because they had worked on my car prior too and I had received a "complimentary service maintenance reminder "for my vehicle.My car had broken down on me and again I thought "take it to this business because I've worked with them in the past . "However,I was very disappointed and dissatisfied with how Larry spoke to me .His tone was very aggressive,harsh and inconsiderate. Larry raised his voice at me and told me he would charge me $"99.00 "for a diagnostic fee (which he failed to mention to me prior to me taking my car there )He then tried to tell me that "I knew that he would charge me for a diagnosis fee"which was again him not being accountable to his own actions .Had I known sooner that I would have been charged such a ridiculous amount I would have never taken my vehicle there in the first place .This man got upset when I told him I would take my car else where and called me "not an honest woman " and hung up on me four times as I tried to discuss logistics of how to get my car off his property.He threatened to inpound my car as well. I've worked with mechanics in the past and they have never never treated and spoketo me with such disregard that I received from Larry .I have also never been charged a diagnosis fee for them looking at my vehicle.I'm disappointed and disgusted by how Larry approached me and how he couldn't be civil . Anyone thinking about going through this business please save your time and money and take your business elsewhere you deserve to be treated with value and respect and to have a hassle free experience not one filled with disrespect just because you choose to go a different route . DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE!! I Trusted them to install on my new car and they cut the main wires IN my harness and now my Nissan WILL NOT POWER DOWN. Ramsey said all he did was to push a button, Nissan dealer says they sliced through the main wiring . Cost me an extra $2200! I overheated on the way up to the Grand Canyon driving a 2008 Dodge Avenger that was pretty packed inside because I was also moving to oklahoma. I had my car towed to Ramseys back towards where i was staying and because it is AAA approved. My car had never overheated before but it is 11 years old. The owner and mechanic ran a performance test and told me that basically i had 2 choices- rebuild my engine or try to trade it in. They said my head gasket was warped. They quoted me $3500. I have an excellent mechanic back home so i called him and repeated the conversation. He basically told me to get out of there. Ramseys didnt know that i just had almost $2,000 worth of work done to my car for this trip. My mechanic back home told me to go buy some head gasket sealer put it in and drive it. However the next day I decided to get a second opinion just to be sure that I wasn't going to break down in the New Mexico desert. I found another place in Litchfield, took my car to them explain everything that happened what Ramsey's Auto Center had told me and that I had put head gasket sealer in my car. They spent about three hours doing their Diagnostics and checking my head gaskets and every test came back normal. They said technically the test was inconclusive because I did have head gasket sealer in it however they pushed the car to fail the test and the car would not fail the test so even though it was technically inconclusive it also passed. The Other Place didn't even charge me for the diagnostics test because they couldn't find anything wrong with my car. I believe now. The car simply overheated because it wasn't used to going uphill for an hour and a half to Flagstaff and it was carrying such a heavy load. Now I'm not saying that Ramsey's purposely was trying to burn me but I will say this, they did not present me with all of my options. They were very black and white and telling me I either needed a new engine or I should trade my car in. I don't know if it's because I had a out-of-state license plates and I was a female or if they just didn't want to present me with the other options. I do think its quite an extreme from needing a new engine to nothing wrong at all- regardless of head gasket sealant. The owner was very nice and respectful. The point of this review, especially for the ladies, is always get a second opinion. For about 2 seconds i actually considered paying him 3500$ or trading in my car. GET A SECOND OPINION ALWAYS. They charged me 106$ for a 4 gas emissions test and some coolant. I didnt get a read out of the results and not until after I left did i realize i didnt even get the AAA discount . I had to put a star rating to post but again they didn't do any work on my car so I can't really judge their mechanical aptitude. Aug 13 2019- Update to my earlier review: I unloaded some weight off my car and drove it to Oklahoma City from Goodyear Arizona. My car ran like a champ, never overheated, never even passed the middle point. We may never know why it really overheated that day but clearly I didn't need a new engine! read more

I called and they got us in first thing in the morning! I told him I needed my brakes done and he said he would inspect them first and then give me a price. Well it was just brake dust and they cleaned everything for us!! They work as good as new now! Very honest people there!! They only charge $24.99 for an oil change as well!!! I'm very satisfied!! I have an early 90's Nissan p/u that kept failing emissions. Went to Fletcher's & the Nissan dealership whom each failed to find the problem. Ramsey found the problem in a single day. (EGR System failure related to the instrument cluster & computer). These guys do well with older vehicles. They can diagnose the problem like old school mechanics. Family owned, and trustworthy. My check engine light was on. My truck was driving fine. Needed to pass emissions. Went through their test showed none of the issues they were looking for. But still can't pass. Went to Ramsey, as always had great service. It was no different this time. Although what was found required a pricey repair, it was taken care of quickly and efficiently. I can't attest to their mechanical ability because they did bare minimum to deal with my emissions issues ie reset the engine light. Twice. I had a guarentee 400 dollar state voucher to fix the issue. First time they said it was just a leaky hose cost 150 didn't need the voucher. Asked if i was going to emissions in next day or 2. I said it would be 3 days, they said it was because time sensitive for the state. 2 days later engine light came on called then and they fixed..cough,sputter... it again and took it through emissions for me. No extra cost. Whatever. 2 days later the light is back in again. read more

Discovered this place last year when my daughter's ac compressor froze up. She attends GCU and it was close by, and a AAA and NAPA shop, figured it was a safe bet, but it's still scary when you try out a new garage. They did a great job, communicated well and got the job done on time, and for what we were quoted. But that's not the best part. This past weekend her compressor froze up again... 6 months after being installed. I called and talked to Larry I think, and he didn't even hesitate.. He said, " please don't worry, it's under Warranty, just bring it in" and we did. One day later it's done, back on the road and didn't cost a dime. Sometimes you get a bad part, it happens. And people even make mistakes sometimes... I expect that, but when a garage takes care of it like Ramsey did.. I'm sold! read more

My family is a long time, repeat customer of Ramsey Auto Center. We have four vehicles that are serviced by Ramsey Auto with consistently excellent results. My daily driver is 13 year old and is approaching 370,000 miles on the odometer. We had three other vehicles that all went over 200,000 miles under Ramsey Auto's consistent and capable service. We used to live in Peoria with Ramsey Auto not far away. After moving to Festival Ranch 12 years ago, we started using dealerships and repair facilities that were closer to our new home with inconsistent results. They always seemed to want to add something to our bill that wasn't really necessary. So we returned to Ramsey Auto Center, even though there are literally hundreds of auto repair shops closer to us. No regrets in returning to Ramsey Auto Center for all of our vehicle maintenance. I appreciated the shop works through NAPA for parts, works with AAA in maintaining good relationships with customers and the industry and is A+ rated with the Better Business Bureau. Over time I've come to learn the owner and mechanics are into drag racing and are very successful in fielding winning and competitive stock and rail dragsters. These folks really love racing and working on vehicles and it shows in their work, year in and year out. Like any other complicated device, sometimes issues are not easily identified and corrected immediately. When this is the case, good dialogue and a will to make things right separates Ramsey Auto from some of their competitors. If you have a good shop with trust and a good relationship established, then good for you. Stay with them. If you desire a better experience in maintaining your vehicles than you currently have, consider giving Ramsey Auto Center your business.
