Went here for a concert and the girl who was checking ids almost snapped mine in half. Then they tried to make an excuse that my id shouldn't bend like that... and that there is nothing they can do. I was there last night for a show and disaster struck-- My debit card fell out of my purse in the crowd! I went to the bar where Krista the bartender was super helpful showing me where to look, and the security staff helped too. It hadn't been turned in yet but she said to check back at the end just in case. I went back into the crowd to enjoy the rest of the show. After a couple more songs, I felt a tap on my shoulder, turned around, and there was Krista with my debit card! Somebody had turned it in and she found me in the crowd and got it back to me! This place blows. Not only do they have the most expensive ticket prices in the city, they charge so many fees on top you have to spend $40 to walk in the door on a $25 ticket. They actually charge $2 for the "convenience" of printing your own ticket at home, $3.50 to get your tickets in the mail and actually more for will call. The venue is actually fine for seeing a show, nothing remarkable, but good sound / space. Despite this, I implore you to stop giving your money to this greedy corporate franchise that cares more about fleecing you than the music you are there to see. read more

The lighting and sound system were excellent for the Pentatonix concert last night, July 21, 2013. The food was also pretty good. The seating was "General Admission" which usually means first come first served for the seats that you want. There was, however, no mention of "limited seating" or limited viewing for most people unless you are right at the balconies at each level, the VIP section ($10 extra) or in the very few stadium seating seats. Would have been nice to know ahead of time as I had already spent $66 and $24 for a parking garage. read more

I went to see soja at rams head and it was great the opening bands, well for the most part sucked. The concert started a little late but that wasn't to bad. Yes I do have to agree with the people saying the venue is too small and hard to move around. Pros: Tickets aren't over price, you get close to the band, secret is good (you don't feel unsafe), great acts cons: You get out late, sound man wasn't too good, parking is $$$ with all of that said YES I love rams head and would go back any day, great acts, great energy, just a lot of fun. read more

For a relatively small, multi-floor venue, Rams Head Live is one of the better ones I've been to. It's similar to 9:30 club in D.C. in terms of layout except that Rams Head has a bit more space (as well as VIP space) and the more bars. The acoustics aren't the best because of the unusual shape and layout but one nice thing is that the downstairs bar is easily accessible. read more

I've been to this venue many, many times for concerts. I've never had a bad experience here. I always thought it was common practice to arrive early for a standing room show. You can't arrive after the opening acts have finished and expect to get a good spot. If you don't feel like being right up against the barricade at the front, the balcony offers a great view of the stage and far less pushing and shoving. They book great acts on a regular basis and you can either park in the garage for $10, or park in Little Italy for free and walk over. My only complaint is that the bathrooms could use a good cleaning. read more

It's amazing how this place is small but spacious at the same time. I love seeing low key "hipster" bands here because it can be very intimate without me feeling like I'm bumping into everyone. Security is very attentive and all the staff members are friendly. There's an area right out back where you can wait for the bands and if you don't want to be caught up in the dance floor, there are different levels where you can still have a great view. Bathrooms are always super clean. Parking is cheap with the voucher, but can be a pain in the ass to find, especially if you're not used to driving around in the city. read more

Let me start off by saying that this used to be one of my favorite venues in the Washington-Baltimore area but in light of recent events, chances of me purchasing a ticket to a future show at this location are quite low. For starters, this COVID-19 pandemic really threw a wrench in things and I get it, but this venue wasn't exactly working with artists or ticket distributors to return money to the consumers even though their website clearly states that refunds will be issued if an event is postponed or cancelled (screenshot on my phone in case they try to change the wording to avoid refunds, much like Ticketmaster). Additionally, the ability to rate them on Google has been suspended for some odd reason, and I'm guessing that them just shutting down and not working with anyone is a reason for that. Sad as it is, because this venue is so lovely, but losing money on six separate concert tickets with dates I can't attend in the future is a frustration that warrants such a low review. read more

It always pains me when a band is coming through town that I really want to see and they end up playing at Rams Head. Its location is a bummer for Baltimore locals on two levels. Number one, it's in the inner harbor (which is a tourist trap), and it's housed within Power Plant Live (which is a combination of tourist trap/go-to place for people who live outside of the city and are determined to keep living the college life well into their early 30s), so it's quite a meta experience from this point of view. Unfortunately, this is pretty much the only venue for mid-level bands to play in town, so when Wolf Parade, Explosions in the Sky, Godspeed, etc. came through, I had to run through the gauntlet to get to the venue, and pray that the venue wouldn't be filled with knuckleheads who just happened to be there because they like the god-awful surrounding of the venue. And that actually is the worst part of this place. Because of its location, you run a much higher risk of having your concert experience ruined because it's incredibly likely that people from the area will wander in who have no idea about the band playing. This size venue would easily get five stars and be the kind of place that real fans want to go to only if it were in a different neighborhood. read more

Not a good venue to go and truly enjoy the concert. The staff there is incredibly rude and the security is terrible. People set off the metal detectors and they just let them on through without checking them.. how safe is that??? best thing about rams head - if ur FAVORITE musician is coming and you just HAVE to be front row - rams head can gaurantee you a good spot if you show up 2 hrs early and pay 10 bucks extra. you get to hang out at the bar while waiting and maybe hear the sound check!!!!!! but even if you do normal entry, theres a lot of great spots to stand!!! read more

I'm writing this mainly to counteract the many negative reviews which I think are ridiculous. Saw Patti Smith - ticket prices were fair and after being forced to purchase scalped tickets at $189 each last year to see these guys in NYC I was thrilled by the price. The sound was really great. Not too loud and well mixed. No ringing ears and I was right up front. The staff were very nice and drink prices were fair too. About the columns - do you understand how buildings are constructed? What do you think is holding up the ceiling? Try standing in front of the columns or off to the side. Don't get that at all. We had a blast and the show was great too! If your fave band it booked in then you are very lucky! read more

Used to play here with my band about 5 years ago and it was great! Last couple of times including tonight especially was horrific. The bartenders are super rude and unprofessional. They dress in all sweats and don't give a shit about the customer. Hey bartenders, I know it's a Sunday night but come on... your over priced drinks mean bigger tips. EARN IT read more

Absolutely love this venue! It is located right in the hub of a lot of activities, restaurants and businesses! The venue is big and can hold a lot of people with numerous levels to space all of those people out. The floor was spacious, but everyone was very close to one another, which is to be expected at any high intensity show. It wasn't to the point that I felt uncomfortably squished though and I had fun and enjoyed myself without worrying about bumping people around me. The music distributes throughout the venue well and doesn't drown into the floor only, in my opinion. There really isn't a bad area in all of the venue and you can have fun no matter what level you're on. If you want to experience the intense energy of the show, I would recommend the floor! There is nothing quite like it! The staff were nice and we were able to meet the bands after the show without the staff ushering us out! Definitely a great experience! The sound is awful. There is very little bass and way too much shrill treble. I cringed every time there was a high note in the music. The layout of the place is weird as well, and there are columns everywhere that obstruct your vision. Hopefully your favorite bands, dj's or performers opt to go to play in the Soundstage instead. All in all, I would rather listen to my music through $20 headphones than go to Rams Head Live again. read more

I love love love the Ram's Head. I have been to venues all up and down the east coast and this is definitely one of my favs. I have seen about 10 shows here and I live about an hour out of Philly but I will drive to MD to see a good show every time one comes up. Baltimore is much better then Philly when it comes to night life in my opinion.. They are even building a new "Powerplant" type of place in Philly but I will still make the drive. Not a bad venue overall. The show was great and there was one specific bartender that did well in getting to us in a timely manner. My only gripe is that their prices for drinks are OUTRAGEOUS (but you kind of expect this going to places like these) and they overcharged me by putting a $20 tip on the bill BEFORE I signed. **Note that I did not get an itemized bill, just a charge card slip with a total.** I gave a generous tip (not knowing they already did so) because they were nice and I went along my merry way -- only to find out that the ACTUAL total was exactly $20 less than the total on my slip. Add in my tip and those ladies had one hell of a night at my expense. Wonder how many other people they swindled? May go here for shows but will not drink here again. read more

I don't understand what all the negative reviews on here are about. Went to see Trampled By Turtles. After working at Merriweather for three years, I was only used to an outdoor-type atmosphere. I gotta say, it was incredibly nice being here. We showed up about 30 mins before the opening act and still got great standing room area about four "rows" back from the barricade. Sound was great. Only complaint was beers. They were fine up until opening act at $3 bud lights but after, the cheapest thing was a $3 natty. Can't say I'm surprised and at least they weren't $9 but still, natty is like $12 a thirty. If I'm gonna drink water, at least charge me less than 300% the price. Besides that, GREAT SHOW!! read more

This is a standing room only venue and it is small like most venues that are general admission. What I like about the venue is there is a parking garage attached directly to the venue and there is plenty of other garages nearby as well. Also you can go and hang out in the powerplant before the show at all the bars. Only downside is that I have heard people complain that the sound is not loud enough. It's fine for me because I have sensitive ears, but you usually don't need ear plugs. read more

Some drunk punched his fist through our windshield and no one at the garage or venue would do anything or even talk to us other than point to someone else's problem. we went to the police across the street to file a report. we were told it is safer to park your car on the street since the city has cameras but the garage does not. oh and adding insult to injury, we had to pay to park!!! I'll get right to it. The sound quality of Rams Head Baltimore is awful. When I went to see Megadeth, the band could not complete the set and had to cancel. I was not refunded for the cost of my ticket. Then, like a dummy, I went back to see Interpol. One of the guitarist, Daniel, had no sound. You could not hear him play. The food is horrible. I really hate that place. The ease of parking is the only bright spot. From now on I intend to go back to my roots to enjoy live music.....D.C.!!! read more

I am very disappointed in one of the staff members at this location. As we were entering the venue, the patrons in front of us set off the metal detector and were allowed to go through without being searched any further. I also watched many of the other concert goers trade drugs while we were inside the venue. Halfway through the show, a security guard grabbed my 17 year old sister by the neck of her shirt and drug her out of the venue screaming "get the fuck out" in her face. I proceeded to ask why she was being taken out, as she was just standing and watching the show, not doing anything wrong, and the security guard could not answer us and only slammed the door in her face. This is not the first time that we have witnesses security being rude and aggressive toward people who were not doing anything wrong. My sister left tonight in tears and is absolutely traumatized that a male twice her size would put his hands on her in such a way while she was just trying to enjoy the show. We spoke with what we were told was the head of security and he didn't seem to find anything wrong with what my sister had done, but could not let us re-enter because our tickets had already been scanned. I would not return to this venue after this experience. read more

I went to Rams Head Live to see Megadeth. I got there at the start of the act before Megadeth. It was so crowded that I had to go upstairs to be able to the band. I went upstairs and still could not see. The music also sounded like crap upstairs. After this portion of the show I went downstairs in hopes that I could steal a better spot while everyone else went to go smoke or whatever. I did find a better spot. After waiting 30 minutes for them to set up for Megadeth it appeared the show was about to start, when the sound system made and horrible noise and broke. They attempted to fix it for about 1hour and 30 minutes. Then it was finally time for Megadeth to play. They come out to play, but what's this? It sounds like complete garbage. The bass continuously gets louder than the other instruments and then gets low again. Vocals are almost impossible to here and the guitars are so low, they can barely be heard. They stop playing after 2 songs and say they will be back when the bass is fixed. This never happened. An angry fan through water on the music board that i don't know what it's called. i was not impressed with this place. to the point that i am not going to see aaron lewis this coming weekend. and that is saying something. looked up the parking for the venue. advertised as $10. got there and there was a special event sign up stating it was actually $15. that did not start things out very well. so we get there and notice the upper deck area. find out it is a vip section and $10 a person extra. i was like, okay, we may be more comfortable and have a better view, especially since i won the tickets. wasn't a good idea. i didn't understand the purpose of it. one couch and a few chairs. very crowded. almost decked a guy who decided he just wanted to shove me the entire evening. had to flag down someone in order to get drinks. sound was mediocre. the only reason i halfway enjoyed myself is strictly for the show that kix put on and nothing else. if there is an act i really want to see is only going to be at this venue, i would have to think long and hard if i really want to go. but if they will also be playing the fillmore in silver spring, then i will drive the extra hour to go there every day of the week and twice on sunday. read more

Very disappointed with the bouncers at the concert I attended on Jan. 29th. I was seeing a friend's band for the first time at this location, and while the venue is very nice, clean, and spacious, the bouncers ruined my night from the get-go. They took my ID and accused me of it being fake. Apparently, they do not have a real machine to scan a driver's license to see if it is real or not... the bouncer pulled out his cell phone and fumbled for a few minutes to get some app to scan it. He then told me that it was fake, according to the app. An officer was supposedly going to come check it, and he asked me to come back in 30 mins while he kept my ID. I came back and asked, nope the officer was coming at 9pm. I returned prior to that time to see if the officer had come by. Nope. Came back at 9:45, and asked if I needed to call the police myself to come check the ID so I could have it back. Whom I assume is a supervisor gave me a lot of sass and said that I had come back to check too many times, and the officer would be arriving in the next half hour. I didn't plan on staying that long, at which point she told me that I can't have my ID back until I planned to leave the venue. While I won't criticise your choice of incompetent staff, I will say that there are DEVICES that exist to check a license to show if it is fake or real. I highly suggest investing in one, then training your bouncers on how to use it, because I don't think I'll ever be coming back to this venue again. read more
