Crazy good Philly style hoagies served out of a tiny store. I am a huge fan of their classic Italian and the roast pork and rabe. These sandwiches are as good as you can find. Be advised that the wait can be long and they sell out often, but it is completely worth it. One of the best establishments in Portland.

I needed a sandwich to accompany me to the beach and decided to finally take a trip down to Ramona's! Parking on Washington is my nightmare so just hope for the best. There's only a few tables in there and a couple patio tables. I did an online order and it was ready by the time I got there, around 20 minutes. I got the Apollo and it was solid! I didn't feel the bread was too hard as some of the other reviews say, but it definitely holds up to the sauces. My pet peeve with sandwiches like this is it's impossible to get a bite with every ingredient in it! However, all the components were really delicious and fresh. For the price point I expected it to be a bit bigger.

Superb subs (hoagies, if you will, and that's the term they prefer) on thick, fresh, crackly bread. High quality meats and overall sandwich construction. It really all comes fine to that; keep it simple, use great ingredients, and execute with skill and hospitality, and they do just that. Limited seating and parking, but well worth the attempt.

LOVE Ramona's!!' Such high quality ingredients, the tuna sub Italian style is so fantastic. Great seasoning, fresh, light and delicious. The bread can be a little tough and sharp so watch the roof of your mouth but well worth it!

Wow. I was delightfully surprised at how delicious Ramona's sandwiches are! Sometimes when I see this style of bread with the crusty outside I worry it will be too chewy/hard to eat but the bread was actually very soft with the crust providing just the right amount of chew/crunch. I got the Italian and the Apolloand while both were delicious, the Italian was the flavor I kept wanting to go back to. I ordered mine sans tomatoes and onions, add pickles and mayo with a side of pepperoncini mayo. It was perfect, will be back, definitely need to try the roast pork. The online ordering was easy and they poured my iced tea when I got there so no melt ice cubes. Great service!

Is this one of the best breakfast sandwiches in Portland? I think it's definitely a contender! Breakfast is served until 11am. I ordered online - which was super easy to do - and got the Eggs and Cooper Sharp on a poppy seed roll ($6), but added potatoes ($1) and chili spread ($1). The chili spread IS SO WORTH IT. You probably want to ask for extra! SKIP THE POTATOES. I thought they'd be like fried or hashbrown-y or at least crunchy, but this was just a few (literally) boiled potato chunks. I didn't even know they were there until I opened up the sandwich to look for them. Skip, skip, skip. But the egg is really the star of the show anyway. I don't think there's another place in Portland putting THAT MUCH EGG on their sandwiches. It feels like twice the amount that's what "normal" is considered. Ramona's, whatever magic you're doing with this fluffy mountain of perfectly cooked egg PLEASE DON'T CHANGE IT. I've seen so many Portland businesses start strong, and have this unique-to-them-thing, and then something happens where they change their recipe and think people don't notice. Oh, we notice. Trust me. After eating half I was *full*; but I powered through because, well, it was honestly too delicious to stop. I'm already looking forward to more, and wouldn't complain at all if Ramona's started offering breakfast sandwiches all day (Portland doesn't have enough spots with mid-day breakfast sandwiches, so please help fill this obvious hole in our culinary scene!).

Whether you're stopping by for breakfast or lunch, Ramona's has some incredible options. After multiple stops in for breakfast, I finally went for lunch today and was blown away by the quality of the Turkey Caesar Hoagie. The bread they use across the board is amazing, so fresh, fluffy and flavorful. The hoagie was packed with so much meat, the dressing was fantastic and I love how they shred the lettuce. It was honestly enough sandwich for two people, that's how hearty it was. On the breakfast front, I've been here many times. I love to stop by and grab a breakfast sandwich and swing by the Eastern Prom to eat it. I like the Ramona Roll, which has egg, cooper sharp cheese, bacon and broccoli rabe with this really nice Calabrian chili sauce that pulls it all together. Sub out the bacon for pork roll if you're feeling dangerous. Overall, a really nice little spot that is a go-to every time I'm in Portland. read more

I had been dying to try Ramona's since they opened up. It's hard to find a REAL Italian in Portland and they promised just that; Mortadella, Hot Capicola, Genoa Salami, Sharp Provolone, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Olive Salad & Hoagie Dressing. All served on a toasted sesame hoagie roll. The hoagie dressing was not overdone and had a nice sweet flavor. The sandwich was good and the portion was big, however the price was hard to look past. $17 for a sandwich is too much! Will I go back? Sure, it was a solid sandwich and a few others on the menu sounded good, but with those prices it's hard to justify being a regular. The sandwich itself is a solid 4 but leaving a 3 star review for factoring in the cost. read more

Best breakfast sandwich I've ever eaten!!! Get the breakfast hoagie - eggs, salami, roasted peppers, provolone, arugula, pepperocini mayo on FRESH baked sesame hoagie - utter deliciousness. So glad I made the stop to try this place out before leaving Portland. Ended up having to eat this in the car and while it was a bit messy, it was amazing. Amazing sandwiches. Their Italian sub was incredible. We ate there and there is one small table and a row of high chairs. Small space but comfortable for two people. Retro vibe. The staff were really nice. Got our food in about 15 minutes, there were quite a few walk ins and order ahead. read more

Online Ordering: 5/5 Wait time: 1/5 Price: 1/5 Taste: 3/5 Overall: 2.5 Ordered online and it was a breeze! Menu items were detailed and the ordering system was easy to follow. However, I did wait 40-minutes from the time I ordered til the time I received a text for pick-up at the window - for a Sandwich. Price was steep after added Hots and Mayo as they were available options on their website. $18.00 for a Sandwich. Taste was bland and the ratio for bread thickness and meat/veggies was too thick in my opinion. Overall, glad I tried it but most likely will not be ordering again. Factoring in the steep price, long wait time and lack of taste - I will avoid this establishment and try other shops in the area. read more

The sandwiches are very good. The prices are unreasonably high. The service is the most unprofessional and hostile I've experienced in years, and this is based on numerous visits. No modifications, even for allergies, are allowed and if you ask, you are treated aggressively and rudely. I decided after my most recent visit that the sandwiches are not worth the poor customer service, especially given their poor customer service comes in the form of aggression and hostility, which can affect your emotions and quality of life. read more

I was excited to try this place after hearing glowing reviews from friends, however I was disappointed. I ordered their flagship italian. Maybe I just hit them on an "off" day. The main concern was the bread. It was overcooked, "Burnt", and very dry. It was so overcooked it actually tasted burnt. I did not even finish the sandwich, and I was Very hungry. The contents of the sandwich were great which is why I'm giving 3 stars. High quality meats, very nice provolone and veggies, etc. Also... a lot of meat! I will give another try, but this visit to Ramona's was no bueno. read more

Always so great! Breakfast or lunch, I am always so happy I went to Ramona's. Ask to get your hoagie cut in half - the pro move. They don't skimp on product or portions, and you pay for a quality sandwich. Only things I don't like are these weird stuffed peppers - not recommended. Add chili sauce to everything. The Turkey Hoagie is a clear winner in my house, but I am fan of their breakfast sando with rabe and bacon. If you don't want to wait around, order online. read more

Convenient ordering during COVID - place your order online and they text you when it's ready. Good bread makes the sandwich, and Ramona's seeded rolls are second to none. I'm from Philly. Nothing back home beats the Breakfast Hoagie. Period. I think about it every day. read more

I went searching for a breakfast sandwich that was a decent portion with great taste. Great portions and flavors. The bread is soft and definitely filling, overall highly recommend. The ambience has a little café vibe but you can also get your order for takeout as well and the quality was still wonderful. I tried the Ramona roll and I recommend it. It is a little bit spicy with their, broccoli rabe but had bold flavors otherwise. Very quick especially knowing they prepare your sandwich from scratch when you order it. read more

I have been here quite a few times already and am really excited for their guest chef series lately. Even still, their portions are large (half a sandwich always fills me up and I save the second half for my next lunch). Their flavors are always delicious, staff is always friendly, and I am never disappointed. Definitely one of my regular go to spots in Portland read more

Ramona's is a cute little hoagie shop and definitely makes some delicious salads and subs. The Apollo is a fave, as are some of their awesome specials. Don't miss the chopped salad. Breakfast sandwiches are awesome, too! However, Ramona's is pretty pricey for a sandwich, although they're big enough to split. Only other con is the bread can be a toss up - sometimes it's great, other times it is over cooked and hard as other note. read more

I'm from NJ and I love a pork roll breakfast sandwich. Ramona's came with the best scrambled eggs on this light fluffy Kaiser roll that enclosed it all (almost like a pita pocket), and the pork roll was just perfect. It was thin sliced and there was a lot of it. I will go back here every time I visit Portland :) read more

The espresso martini was perfectly balanced, and even the mocktail was refreshing and well made. And our waitress was the sweetest (and honestly the prettiest!). She was so warm and friendly that I'd come back just to chat with her again. Great service, great food, great experience overall. Definitely worth a stop if you're in Portland.

I've visited this place three times, and unfortunately, each experience has been consistently negative due to the rude staff. The woman at the counter always seems to be in a bad mood, making interactions uncomfortable. Their phone etiquette is also lacking, leaving me feeling unwelcome before I even set foot in the store. At the end of the day, it's a sandwich shop, but it seems like the staff believe their product justifies treating customers with disrespect. It's disappointing, and I won't be returning. read more
