First time going to a rodeo & was pleasantly surprised. Had some doubts since the country western atmosphere is out of the norm for me. Did end up having a blast & really enjoyed watching the female events. Cowgirls are bad ass! And who doesnt appreciate bull riding! Decent variety of beer & wine & some cool vendors with western apparel & unique items. Would definately go back.

I went to the Summer Stampede in August. It was a fun thing to do on a Saturday night. It started…read moreat 7pm-ish. It's an amateur rodeo, so a lot of bronco and bull riders weren't completing their rides, but it was $20 to get in. Also several kid events that were pretty cute. The website said....no outside food or drinks. No one checked anything. It said to get there early to get a grandstand seat. There was plenty of seats, even in the shade. It also said they would have a burger pop-up restaurant. They did not. They had a concussion stand with $5 hot dogs and nachos, $3 waters, $6 lagers and seltzers. It was hot so we had a couple drinks, then did a late night dinner. Oh, parking in the rodeo lot was a nightmare. It was $20 and no one helped cars get out onto the road, so we sat in the lot forever. Rookie mistake.

So we put the hats and the boots and enjoyed the horses, the bulls and the ambiance. My friend used to ride horses in her ranch in a Mexico so I was glad to be among aficionados and totally got in the mood. We parked pretty far and walked around 15 minutes to the place. Lots of young people, all very good looking! Maybe I should go often to this type of places and meet a cowboy . The show was great and the presenter was very entertaining. I liked the attendees too, pretty civilized, tons of young people and couples. Very pleasant and nice experience in and out.

Bull riding, barrel racing, buck riding and more! It was adorable to see a 6 year old barrel racing! The kids riding the sheep was also entertaining. Lots of vendors from food to merchandise. Plenty to shop for including cowboy hats & clothing. They have a kids zone with inflatables. They also have another separate kids zone with shaded bleachers- separate from general admission. We love the kids zone tickets for the shade, meals included (this year it was Raising Canes), drinks (alcohol also) & face painting. I love that they support the Ronald McDonald house and love that they have someone sing the National Anthem every year. We will be back next year!

Anyways, it was ok. I am not a huge rodeo fan but my friend had some extra tickets. The place was way too busy. Because of the years off everyone wanted to go on this Saturday night. Their was not enough seats for everyone and it is open bench seating. The area for the rodeo isn't a big lot and it was very crowded. Overall, too much alcohol, dirt and sponsors for my taste. I get the alcohol and dirt, that's what rodeo's are about. But the sponsors riding out between each event, plus more times, and the lack of seating was no fun. We had seats up high but were so packed in that it wasn't comfortable. I know they were sold out but maybe re-evaluate the numbers on what it takes to be "sold out"

We arrived early, yet many tables were being saved for people who hadn't even arrived, leaving paying customers who arrived early with nowhere to sit. I asked for a manager's assistance and was told there was no policy against saving seats. Although I was told someone would come help at least find 1 seat so I can sit and enjoy dinner and the game at game time, no one ever did. As the evening went on, people brought in lawn chairs, oversized bags from the grocery store with alcohol, and created their own seating areas with little to no oversight. For a heavily promoted event with a large crowd and alcohol being served, I expected visible management and better crowd control. Instead, I was told the manager had taken the day off to watch the game at home. Leadership sets the tone. When there is a lack of structure, people create their own rules. Structure and set rules can create a more orderly environment that may provide a safe, fair, and enjoyable experience for everyone. The evening ended with the TV glitching out in the final few minutes of the game crowd started chanting and complaining then a large fight. During the fight a gun was drawn, people panicked, running and pushing to get out. It was a frightening and chaotic situation. I hope Rodeo X uses this as an opportunity to strengthen its leadership, crowd management, and planning for future large events. I genuinely felt bad for the relatively young employees. They were polite and appeared to be doing their best while managing a packed venue and a bar with a 45-minute wait just to order a drink. They shouldn't have been put in that position without experienced leadership and adequate support during such a large, heavily promoted event. Lastly, I want to give a heartfelt shout-out to the Ontario police officers who responded so quickly. They were able to detain the gunman and others involved in the fight. Their swift response brought a sense of calm to a frightening situation and allowed me to leave feeling much safer.
