This aviation company provides maintenance, sales, service and flight instruction to students, hobbyists and die hard aviation pilots! I had the opportunity to tour this facility recently via a mentoring program and I learned much about aviation, that I didn't learn via the Wright Brothers indirectly! More than anything, I have always enjoyed being around airports, small, large, international, you name it. Perhaps, it's the freedom of flight and the adventure of travel that lures me (I'm sure I'm not the only one). We had a chance to view planes that didn't land with their gear down (always the preferred method) and got to view a couple experimental planes (this is cool stuff, imagine engineering items to make your plane fly the way you want it to fly)! You can obtain flight instruction here or rent a plane that will cost you between $85 to $250 per hour (an expensive hobby)! You might just drive out nearby in Ramona and watch planes take off and land if you don't have the $'s to fly! I was surprised to learn you can purchase a plane for as little as $20,000 and I was thrilled to learn one female mechanic worked for the facility and brought in her pink tool kit to work! Mohamoud was an excellent driver - he was punctual, promptly reached out to me when I landed and very polite when he picked me up. He was a safe driver and the ride was smooth and plesant. I work in New York City and travel back and forth to San Diego and have used many shutle/sedan companies over the last few years; he was one of the best drivers I have had. I have flown out of the Tijuana airport a few times in my life, the most recent time being last…read moreweek. It was the first time I went to that airport since CBX had been constructed. Hubby and I were headed to Puerto Escondido, which is very expensive and very time-consuming to fly to from the airport in San Diego. However, flight prices and times were much more reasonable from Tijuana. Thanks to CBX, we didn't need to find anyone to cross the border and drive us directly to the airport, especially as our flight departed at 5:40 AM. It was nice to have an easy drop off on this side of the border. Anyway, we were dropped off on the US side, and had pre-purchased CBX tickets online for $50 per person, round trip. I felt that the price was very fair for the staffing and amenities along the way. We had already reserved a rideshare to drive us to CBX, but I saw the secure parking lots and realized that parking there is also a valid, safe option. It appeared that some of the secured parking cost about $30 per day, making it a good option depending how may days you would like to park your car. Anyway, when we entered, there were people guiding us, as it wasn't too crowded at that early hour. You scan your CBX ticket, your boarding pass, and your passport. Then you are able to walk through the barriers. There are escalators and elevators to get to the bridge, and signs stating that there is assistance available for people with disabilities. The bridge was clean and air-conditioned. We walked through customs just prior to entering the Tijuana airport. When I had learned about CBX, I was reluctant. A friend of mine told me that she had walked much further in various airports. It is true. The walk is short and easy Upon coming back to the states, we learned that there were several taco and other food trucks on the US side of CBX, as well as Starbucks and a well-known mall pretzel company. All in all, I am grateful to have a way to access the TJ airoprt in a very easy and affordable way. I plan to continue to use CBX for more affordable flights south of the border.

I used CBX to fly from TIJ to San Miguel Allende 10 years ago, and recently to Cancun. Both times were uneventful, exactly how I like my airport experiences to be. Purchase your CBX pass and parking ahead of time. Parking is priced cheapest in the dirt lot and most expensive in the covered/paved lot. I prefer the Goldilocks of uncovered paved in Lot A up front. Upon arrival, scan your CBX ticket and boarding pass (you can link them and just scan boarding pass as well, but don't need to). Same on the way back.
