The fact is that I do like fresh Japanese beer.

Cozy little spot in Browns Bay, Walk in, take a seat and you will feel somewhere lost in Japan. Nice and comprehensive menu for ramen lovers. You have lots of choice such as the first Soy Sauce Ramen-If you don't know what to choose, always choose the first item on the menu, you wouldn't regret. And also the pork Ramen with creamy savoury soup to indulge yourself. Hmm, I would say there is more to treat your tastebud such as fried chicken pieces, Gyoza with cabbage&pork stuffing. Pairing a draft beer. Then walk out into the sunshine breeze, you are back in New Zealand. However, your stomach and heart already left in that little space. PS: Service is excellent. Good English, nice communication and good-looking waitor. ^^

Great little Japanese restaurant in Browns Bay. Great for ramen, donburi and small plates. They currently don't offer sushi or bento boxes on their menu so if you're after those items specifically, you'll need to go somewhere else. Their food is always fresh, tasty & delivered to the table promptly. Staff are always very friendly & smiling.

This one of the best ramen place I discover in Auckland. Price very reasonable around $12-15. And their ramen texture is one of the best, soup base is tasty and not too greasy where lots other ramen place I've been to. Very nice staff and super quick delivery of food...Our food appear 5 mins after we ordered! Nice seating too. But remember to book during weekends. The place seems to get very busy after 6.

A cute/compact ramen noodle bar in Browns Bay. We drove to eat here from Takapuna after seeing a TV show ages ago recommending it for the hand made noodles. They are superb. You have to order ramen of some sort if you eat here. The service was super prompt. The food lovely. We arrived around 8:30pm and the place went from busy to empty and closing in an hour. I was having a brilliant day, so it was romantic and enjoyable. Daytime might not look so pretty.

It's not brilliant because I guess you only get that in Japan I suppose but compared to Mentatz (on High Street) and Tanpopo (Anazc Ave) it's good. It's also famously nestled between a few well known Symonds St eateries namely Ginas which is a funny and loud Italian restaurant, a top end Japanese eatery which I can't remember the name of, a well known Sushi eatery and also a cheap and cheerful Thai dining house. So you assume that there's plenty of competition about! First time I rolled in I ordered a Giyoyaki Ramen (fish and pork broth and probably spelt wrong) and it was delicious. The broth is probably the most important part of Ramen and it was rich and creamy. Some may argue otherwise that it's each individual part that gives the rise to the whole Ramen. But I say broth. For me it was a little tad on the small side as I was super hungry but everything is fine, a little short on the extra condiments as I usually like a bit of bamboo shoots. Second time I went I had a spicy ramen. I had a good look at the menu and was pleasantly surprised to discover that you can make it large for an extra $1. So I went with that and it totally filled me up. Go get your Ramen Fix there!

The menu consists of all the usual in these sort of Japanese restaurant plus they have monthly specials. The price is pretty good , the place clean and a good thing is you can watch the food being prepared as the kitchen is open. But I find their portions of meat a little less compared to another Japanese restaurant I reviewed but barring that it is equally delicious. Drinks are available as well as help yourself water. No credit card facilities though , only cash or eftpos. It's tucked away in the queen st side of Tyler st and could be easy to walk past if not really looking.

Soy sauce, Miso, Salt and Tonkotsu Ramen, four elementary Ramen but classic to choose. There are more to come if you would like some special treat to your noodle. Quite a Japan Style! Honestly, for this kind of noodle place, always try the basic and best one. Tonkotsu is not a bad choice. Nice soup, slow cooked pork slice, bamboo shoots and fresh spinach for a taste bonus. What's more, you can choose fried dumplings, they call Gyoza and some pork stew for small bites. They are both quite authentic. Just wish they could turn these seats a bit more tidy, then it would be closer to my Ramen Place expectation.

After scanning the broad menu, we ordered up two lunch bento box specials, an eel plate and tonkatsu shoyu ramen bowl. Food arrived mere moments later, seemingly faster than your local Maccas! The lunch special included miso soup, takoyaki, tuna/salmon sashimi salad, chicken teriyaki and a bowl of rice (and some unknown yet tasty chicken cucumber marianated dish). Not a bad deal for $16 NZ. Chicken teriyaki was excellent, btw. The eel arrived in a very generous portion (3x what we'd normally get in the states) and delish! Ramen was perfectly flavored (not too salty) and the noodles were tender. A good lunch stop in the heart of the CBD, and a good value if you're used to paying in USD! A nice refreshing Japanese meal preparing us for our upcoming experience in Japan -- should be ranked higher than the 3.5 stars currently on Yelp!

The entrance is dark so you can't really tell if it's a restaurant. Also, it's definitely hard to tell if it's open or not. There are signs, but it's a bit confusing still. Ha! When you do go inside it, the atmosphere is quiet and calm. It definitely does feel like one of those smaller Japanese restaurants that you have been to if you have ever been to Japan. There's a sushi bar area where you can sit. There's also an authentic Japanese dinning area, set up with the tatami floors, walls, cushions and table where you have to take off your shoes in order to be seated there. There are also western seating available where we sat. The staff are quick to serve and are friendly. The food was delivered fairly quickly, and we didn't wait long. The taste of the food was really close to the kind that you would find if you lived in Japan. If you're looking for a good meal, this place I would recommend!
