I'm sorry to say it, but Ramen Daikoku is what my friends described as the low point of their trip to NZ. We all loooooove ramen, and this was just a disappointment. I had the tonkotsu shoyu, a go-to fave of mine, my friend had the veggie ramen, and her husband had the chicken ramen. We shared an order of mini spring roll, which tasted like the kind you can buy in the grocery store frozen foods section and fry up at home. None of the ramen was very good, unfortunately. The broths were all really meh, the noodles tasted overcooked, and the ingredients lacked flavor. This place is close to my work so I was hoping it could be a new fave, but I'd just rather not go back.
I will give them credit - when my friend ordered the vegetarian, our waitress made sure to let us know the broth is made with meat. My friend is not a strict vegetarian, so it was fine, but we really appreciated the heads up. Good service but not good food, sorry. read more
