Came here on a Tuesday night with a party of 2 since hot soup is the perfect meal for cold weather. It was relatively empty; there was only one other customer. The service was quick and friendly! The interior is not really my taste - it felt like a teenaged boy's room. There's a lot of anime posters and Japanese artwork, so definitely driving in the Japan/anime especially with the artwork outside the storefront. The menus look like they need an update since it was pretty worn down and barely held together by a taped up binder ring. We ordered veggie egg rolls to share and I ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen. The egg rolls were ok. The ramen was also ok - nothing impressive. The soup was ok, but not as creamy or rich as I prefer tonkotsu to be. The chashu was dry and chewy, so it could've used more cooking time. The noodles had a great texture and the half boiled egg was delicious. I wish there were bamboo shoots as well but not a personal dealbreaker. All in all, it's an okay ramen restaurant that's on the affordable side. read more

This is a great place for fresh, hot ramen. I've ordered from Ramen Sho several times. I have yet to find something on the menu I didn't enjoy! My go-to is for sure the Spicy Tonkotsu but I've also enjoyed the Tan Tan (miso broth with spicy sweet ground pork). The Cream Cheese Wontons are to die for. They're only $3.99 and you get 5 pieces of these deep fried delicious bits, as well as a side of sweet chili sauce. If you're not feeling soup, I'd suggest the Karaage bowl (crunchy Japanese fried chicken on steamed rice topped with green onion, green onion and unagi (eel) sauce or the Pork Belly bowl (same as the Karaage bowl but with delicious, juicy pan fried pork belly). Prices are incredibly reasonable. Bowls are anywhere from $7.50-$14.00 and come with generous amounts of food. read more

Hit this place in a whim. Got there a few minutes before closing. I asked if it was too late to dine in. H smiled and seated me. First time here and I told this to Hunter. He welcomed me and suggested some of the popular dishes. I ordered pork belly rice bowl and a hot green tea. Order came out pretty quick. Cool decor and a friendly vibe, very noveau Japanese. I'll be straight with you folks, I'm not a ramen fan boy. In fact, it bugged me when this kind of became a craze a hot second ago. That being said, this place impressed me. As the other pictures show, it's got a trippy but cool manga/anime vibe with Japanese pop music playing. Service was fast and uncomplicated. If you are looking for some authentic Japanese Ramen....this is my go to place! They got Ramen AND awesome appetizers. Their menu is simple which I love because they got my favorite dishes! Not too complicated. The place has a good seating size and can get busy during rush hours for lunch. Come in early and hungry! The service is great! As you get to your table, scan their menu and you can choose from their selections of different broths. You can also add on or get their Ramen and rice bowl set. I always opt for that because you get a rice bowl with your choice and for me it is always their karaage chicken. YUM!!! Their appetizers is amazing too! If your know takoyaki...then you know you got to have it here. Takoyaki and pan fried gyoza...delicious! Be careful...it can be really hot! The Takoyaki balls are crunchy on the outside and tender yummy inside. Did I say it is octopus balls?! Yes, they have a few slices of octopus inside deep fried in this batter with some sauce on top. Delicious and my favorite! The pan fried gyoza is crunchy on the outside, moist and flavorful inside. Go ahead and dip it in the sauce...you will come back for more! We ordered Soyu Ramen and Tonkatsu Ramen...Both delicious and has that umami flavor...not too salty and overpowering like other ramen shops I have tried around the area. Came here for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised. I've been to a couple other ramen spots in Meridian and Boise and was very disappointed. I ordered spicy tonkotsu ramen - everything about it was perfect really: the size, flavor, broth consistency, toppings, etc. It was a satisfying lunch, even on a 100 degree day. Quick service and friendly staff. I can't wait to come back again! Update: ugh! I spoke too soon. I loved my first experience so much that I brought my husband to the restaurant last night. Maybe on Thursday the chef was having an exceptionally good day in the kitchen or last night they were having a bad day....but the ramen and pan fried gyoza had ZERO flavor. Gave this place a try last night with high hopes and while I will preface this with that for the Boise area this is a solid 4 star Ramen spot. For the reason that this is only 1 of 2 ramen spots in the area. There really is not a lot choices so happy to find another spot. Inside the place is pretty small with limited seating. We got there at the perfect time because by time we left this place was packed. The service we had last night was very slow, but I don't hold them for that because John the waiter last night was as such a hustler. I have previously been to Ramen Sho when it was still located on 8th and Main in Boise - it's just as tasty as it was before moving! I ordered my go-to which is always tonkatsu ramen (pork broth base) and the taste was as I expected it to be! However, I felt the broth was not quite as full or "rich" as I remember it to be - regardless, it was still very tasty. The price for the tonkatsu ramen was $12.99, however if you want to try more you can order a deal that comes with ramen + rice bowl for $15.99, which saves you a few dollars ordering them separately (instead of paying $12.99 + $7.50 for the ramen and rice bowl respectively, you pay $15.99 for both). We ordered a pork belly bowl which was greasy and crispy in all the right places and perfect with unagi sauce! Of course, we also ordered some takoyaki ($5) and it was the perfect balance of crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the outside. If you do not know what takoyaki is, it is a savory crunchy ball of dough with octopus on the inside. I definitely recommend it if you like seafood and want to try Japanese street food. As far as other unique menu items go, Ramen Sho also serves mochi and ramune sodas! Food: Very good and flavorful broth (most popular ramen). Most ramen places make it too salty, this one is not as salty. Egg was perfect (not over cooked and too salty). Service size is decent. Service: Slowest service ever! Came in on a Saturday 3/30. There was 1 server and the place was 80% at capacity. Water took 30mins to come (asked 3 times) and the food 50mins to arrive (ordered 1 ramen). Lots of nice apologies but how long does it take to pour water in a cap with ice?! The best ramen shop in the entire Treasure valley. I tried to frequent this place once a month since I only have one day off per week. The food was cooked correctly every time I order, customer service is on point so kudos to the staff given the short staff situation that they are in. The last couple times that I was there they had to close lunch service because of the short staff. Back to the food, the noodles was cooked perfectly, still a little crunch, not over cooked like some other ramen shops that I've been in. The menu is limited but I don't mind since I'm there strictly for the ramen. I'd rather have it that way since it's a ramen shop not a sushi bar that carries ramen and they are really excelled in that. I always get tonkatsu ramen with an extra side of noodles. The meat is cooked beautifully with a perfect ratio of meat and fat. Overall, this is a really nice little ramen shop. I can totally see how easy it is for the shop to get packed and overwhelmed but the staff still churns out top notch food and service. Giving this place 4 stars mostly for the service, both ladies tending to us did a great job. The ramen was ok, we came for lunch because our go to spot ramen house was closed. So will probably only come back if Ramen house is closed. I was not a fan of the sweet spicy ground pork, it was all sweet and no spice at all. Ramen Sho used to be my go to ramen in Boise/Meridian area and I have been a customer since they were located in downtown Boise. My last couple of visits were very unpleasant however. The last time I was there after ordering, our two ramen bowls took over 35 minutes, there was only one table that ordered ahead of us and it was at the end of the night so service was certainly not during a "rush". the quality of their food is great still, But regardless my new go to ramen is Ramen House off Eagle and Ustick road. They have a much larger menu in regards to variety, and every time I have ordered there, the food is out in less than 10 minutes as Japanese street food should. We went here tonight for dinner and it was fantastic. We order the ramen tonkatsu, tantan, pork bun and spring rolls. The pork bun was perfectly steamed and had a lot of pork. The tantan was great and had just the right spice to it. The star of the show was the pork ramen because the broth was rich and delicious. Also, the noodles, egg and pork slices were all amazing with the awesome broth. Overall, so far the best ramen I have had in Boise. I kind of mulled over this review for the better part of the day because a lot of my experience today was still a 4* review but I ultimately decided to take back a star. The good: Seated promptly. Cold frosty beverage delivered quickly. Server was extremely helpful and friendly. The Meh: Ramen was good but nowhere near as good as the last visit. I ordered the Spicy Miso Ramen extra spicy... it came out rather bland and not spicy at all. The server brought me a thing of chili oil which wasn't spicy at all but tasted good. In the end the chili oil just made the broth gross and I couldn't drain my bowl like I did last time. The Bad: First step in the door and all I could hear was my boots sticking to the floor. Which tells me that they were mopped with dirty water and that's just gross. All of the door and window fixtures were covered in dust and cobwebs, again just means that they don't clean. If the establishment doesn't clean the areas that the customer sees... god only knows what the back of the house (where they cook and prep the food that you eat) looks like. Eww. I would also like to add that the pork I was served was not cooked enough. It was cooked to a safe to eat temp but not enough so that it was that tender texture you expect with pork belly. Instead I was served a whole lot of hard white fat and meat with too much bite. Wasn't appetizing in the slightest and wasn't eaten.... was really gross but it happens. So yeah I took back a star but look forward to going back again someday. Hopefully to some new cleaning regiments and better cooked pork. read more

Really kind young serving staff, fast with order. Cream cheese wontons are amazing! We had the spicy and regular tonkotsu ramen and we really liked it. We always bring home leftover ramen broth with an additional order of noodles in it, then leave that in the fridge overnight and the noodles absorb the broth and you get the yummiest cold noodle leftovers!
