The food excellent. The price good. The atmosphere is crowded and loud. The staff is either great or terrible depending on who you encounter. The hostess was frazzled and had people wait that were then skipped and people seated that didn't wait. The interior is mostly hard surfaces which makes it REALLY loud. We sat at the bar because we were told of a wait - then half way through the meal asked if we wanted a table? The bar was fine but was adjacent the frequently opened front door and it was COLD. The people waiting for a table were immediately behind us at the bar which made it impossible to enjoy. One group talking loudly behind us eating was then replaced by a mom with a crying baby that then sat on the floor? (It's not an airport). Ok ok so your noodles are home made - who cares! They might as well be De Cecco branded noodles. What makes the soup, any soup, is the broth. Since this is a new place I went to try it out for lunch - very nice building and nice inside. As an app I got the Takoyaki (octopus fritter) and it was nice but needed more sauce or some dipping sauces to go along with it. As main ordered shoyou chicken ramen - very nice flavor. No fatty chicken pieces! At the end of my meal, my stomach was satisfied but when my bill came, my wallet was dissatisfied! My lunch was over $18!! - this was with only drinking water. This one lunch cost me two days of lunch! This is unacceptable for what it is: noodles in a broth! A $12 dollar soup!? WHAT!!! I think the correct price for this bowl of noodles would be $7. Without telling my wife, I took her here and she said the same thing!: pricey!! Her soup, not the chicken one, did not taste good! Folks we are in NWA not NYC - think about that! Have some dignity and not just turn your wallets upside down! Nara is not Roth's Chris it's just pasta in a broth! Do you know the cost to make pasta - not much vs a piece of steak. We finally have a ramen restaurant!! I am not a big ramen noodle kind of person but I did enjoy eating here. I've been here twice. I've tried ramen in other cities before like Dallas and Las Vegas and each had their own taste. The ramen here I think is decent for a smaller city. It can sometimes be a little too salty. My biggest complaint is the small portions. If you're a big eater, you might want to order two bowls. Or if you add extra noodles don't forget to ask for extra broth! They will only give you more noodles without more broth. I guess that's another complaint. Other than that, it's right down the road from me and I wouldn't mind eating there again. FINALLY AM I RIGHT?! NWA has been needing some good ramen. To start, they are still in their soft open with a limited menu and smaller staff. So that being said, we waited a little bit to get seated, but it wasn't too bad. We ordered the Takoyaki to start. I'll be honest, not my favorite. Something about the texture, but I don't think that was on the restaurant, I think I just didn't like it. I got the Miso Ramen, and it was good! I had never had corn in my ramen and I was a fan. My mom got the thick broth ramen and I loved the thickness and taste more than mine! To add some flavor, we added the home-made chili oil sauce and it added the perfect amount of flavor and spice. Not too hot and I'm usually a huge wimp. Speaking of home-made, the noodles are home-made and that the kind of special touch I LOVE. So I was all about that and honestly, really good quality, in my opinion. A lot of ramen places charge an exorbitant price for their bowls and add a bunch of filler (bamboo, fish cake, eggs, blah blah blah) but have less than decent broth and little noodle. This is not that kind of place. They charge a good price for good ramen. They have the fixings that I named above, but it's not the star of the dish! We finally have Ramen in NWA! The whole family went with the Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen. Noodles look like they are made in house and are legit. The broth is oh so porky and delicious. It was day 3 so some kinks to work out but not a hinderance at all for the experience. The staff was gracious and helpful and the decor has a funky vibe I expect in ramen houses. Still a limited menu so I'm holding off a 5 until they add a few more necessary extras like some chili oil and some menma and vegetarian options. Came back 3 days later to introduce more people to this place. It was hopping for lunch and I got to try the Miso Tonkatsu Ramen with added chili oil. Delish! It definitely gave it another layer of depth to the flavor profile. Can't wait til they are in full swing with a full menu. read more

The place is very warm and inviting. Don't miss the murals upstairs. The menu is not elaborate. Very simple choices. Only 4 different ramen to cover from. Choice 1 and 2 are both combination of beef and chicken broth with the only difference was the Hakata was a thicker cut and the donkatsu of choice 2 is pork belly slice. The third choice chicken. And the fourth choice was base of Miso. The broth was delicious. I wish it was spicier and piping hot. Even with the hot chili oil, it was not enough. The molten egg came out perfect. The chicken appetizer was also good but I did not feel like it was special unlike the Korean bon Chon chicken. They almost forgot or order of takuyaki. I've been to Ramen Nara twice and they appear to be quite popular and getting off to a great start. I've sampled the gluten free noodles, the thin ramen noodles and the thicker ramen noodles. The thicker noodles are by far my preferred choice to go with any of the broth selections. If you have glutten sensitivity, you owe it to yourself to try this place out because the owner has gone through great lengths to ensure his gluten sensitive friends can enjoy his food (even if the gluten free noodles are not house made). Be sure to ask about it because they will go the extra mile to meet your needs. My favorite broth is #1 on the menu (Hakata Tonkotsu) and I simply love that broth which has a little more body to it than the other broths along with a nice piece of tender fatty pork that just melts in your mouth. They can substitute veggies for noodles if you ask and I may try this next time. Ramen Nara has an uphill battle against upcoming Walton foundation backed restaurants and also the typical American pallets that have grown up on .39 cents pre-packaged instant noodles (please don't use those things as a base for comparison). The owner's passion is Ramen and he strives to cultivate his long simmering broths without taking shortcuts such as using MSG, so achieving that elusive umami flavor takes more time and more ingredients and could mean more subtlety than most are expecting. I had to break my keto diet to enjoy the noodles and I would be grateful if zero carb noodles (or kelp noodles) were an option in the future. read more

While I was waiting for my meal to be prepared, I had an opportunity to speak with two individuals who I believe were the owners. They were genuinely friendly, welcoming and upbeat. My food was prepared in under five minutes and off I went. After arriving at my office I immediately tore into my Ramen and I got to tell you, I am going to miss this spot. The broth was excellent, tasty and very rich. All of the ingredients were fresh and the noodles are handmade so I'm not sure what else they could've done to earn a five star rating for me. This place is amazing, it's very sheek and has a lot of things that you would want out of a modern bar and restaurant, but the most important thing is the food. I ordered the takoyaki as an appetizer and I have to say it is the best I have had outside of California. The batter was perfect along with amazing chunks of octopus topped perfectly with sauce and bonito flakes. Eat them hot, don't let them get cool because they are best when hot. I made sure I got the Tonkotsu with the hakata noodles and it was so worth it. The deep pork broth mixed with the thin noodles made every slirp amazing. The soft boiled eggs were creamy and amazing. Walking in was confusing, I felt they were still under construction and I was trespassing on Sacred grounds. Glancing in at the tables my heart started to race as I saw forks were no option. We were seated quickly and food came out fast, they had 4 options with only one without pork belly. The water was free and fun, my hands were tired after eating due to only using chopsticks.
