Solid experience top to bottom. I find the atmosphere cozy here and have enjoyed each experience here. I definitely recommend the atmosphere in the evenings if you're going for particularly cozy. This particular time, I dined in for lunch prior to their closing at 2:00 (their typical hours are open a few hours around lunch and then a few hours around dinner). It wasn't busy and I was well attended to. I went with the Spicy Shoyu Tori Paitan and loved every bite. The chicken was pretty spot on, which I was impressed by. I will say the dish on its own wasn't very spicy to me, but with the chili paste available on the table, you're able to make it as spicy as you would like. It was so delicious and fresh perfectly made. My favorite Ramen is the one with the fried chicken in it so freaking good Tony is still serving us almost 3 years later we adore him. There's a wait on a weekend, so you know it's decent, as northwest Arkansas typically doesn't have much for waits. Also, Ramen Nara is one of the few Midwest asian restaurants that gives you chopsticks instead of typical cutlery, so there's that. First off, the water is DELICIOUS. Somehow that stuck out to me. And the water cup and chopstick combo was of clean aesthetic. To the point I'd copy it in my own kitchen. Though admittedly I prefer wooden chopsticks for my ramen to the metal ones found here. We started with the Takoyaki, and it was quite good. I've had others that feel like molten lava once they rupture in your mouth, but these were actually served at a good temperature. 6 pieces total, so perfect for the 3 of us to split. I ordered #1, the Hakata Tonkotsu. I always start with the egg, which was slightly cold, but flavor and texture was absolutely perfect. Chashu pork was underwhelming, in fact maybe 2.5/5. But the chicken karaage I borrowed from my brother's #9 was exceptional! As a whole, the broth, noodles, and vegetables were a great combo. I added a bit of the red spice oil and the flavor blossomed. Not too salty, and nothing was overpowering. Was it the best ramen I've ever had? Well, no, but it was solid and I left happy. If you're craving ramen, it's probably the best in the area and will absolutely satisfy the craving. Especially if you go with the karaage. read more

My favorite is the #9 GARLIC MISO TORI PAITAN. I always get a side of black garlic and chili oil for added flavor. Gluten free noodles options are also available. Very cute and quaint atmosphere. There was no wait time and there's ample parking around the restaurant. It is a very intimate space but it gets pretty busy in there. I'm always leery of trying places with the many allergies, dietary restrictions, etc but the staff was extremely supportive and accommodating of my needs. They tripled checked with the kitchen and ensured that I would be able to eat there. We would've like the appetizers to come out all at once and then our food but everything was good. My go-to ramen place in the area. Been here multiple times and was never disappointed. Ambiance is great and perfect for dates. There is plenty of parking in the front. Service is usually great and food is served pretty quick. In appetizers, I would definitely recommend Spicy Chicken Karage. Meat is always very tender and packed with flavor. In ramen, my favorites are Hakata Tonkotsu and Tantanmen. Their broth is rich, thick, and full of flavor. Noodles can be asked to be cooked super soft. They put generous amounts of meat in. Overall, their ramen bowls are very well put together and can easily fill you up. My partner usually tries their Chicken ramen and surprisingly karage goes pretty well in ramen. In desserts, I would recommend their chocolate mochi ice cream. It is delicious and a great intro to mochis if you have not tried one before. This restaurant feels like one of those concept places put together by a restaurant group that did some analysis and decided what would make them some money with the area's changing demographics and expectations. Maybe I'm wrong, but I can't imagine anyone involved cares much about Japanese food. The cracks start to show in this sort of business eventually. Case in point: the chicken curry. Now, I admit that I read the description for the pork curry, which sounded fairly normal, and just ordered what I assumed would be the chicken variation (seeing as I'd had a lot of bacon and sausage already that day). I wanted a nice chicken cutlet, breaded and fried golden and sliced into lovely strips, a classic chicken katsu curry. Well, that's not what they do here. So that's on me, for not reading the description for the chicken curry, which would've told me not just that they're doing something different--which is fine, I've had Japanese curry with chicken chunks in it and probably other chicken variations too--but also that Something Is Very Wrong Here. "Grilled chashu chicken." First off...to the best of my knowledge, there's no "chashu chicken" in Japanese cuisine. It's always pork. Chashu is a technique for cooking pork that's based on another technique, which originated in China. And you don't use chashu pork in curry, because the curry sauce has a strong flavor, and the flavors would fight each other. There IS chashu chicken in Hawaiian cuisine, but it's very different, and yet as far as I can tell, that's what they've done here. Seems like an odd choice. (It's tasty by itself, but not what I expect to get at a Japanese restaurant, and I can't imagine it going well in the ramen either.) It's true that Japanese pickles are traditionally eaten with curry rice, but not these pickles, which are sweet yellow ones called takuan. Tasty, but not normally served with Japanese curry. Fukujinzuke are the right pickles here, and they taste really different. There are a lot of different vegetables you can put in Japanese curry. These were listed as carrots, shelled edamame, and onion. They were...crunchy? Extremely bizarre, never had such hard veggies in a Japanese curry before. They may have been lightly steamed/shocked/blanched, which is not the right texture at all. The edamame were fine, but the onions and carrots really were not. I would have sent the entire order back at an actual Japanese restaurant based on this, and I hate sending things back. My partner said his ramen was good. We've eaten ramen all over the West Coast and Japan, including Nara, which I think (by an odd coincidence) might be the first place I ever had actual ramen. So he really means it. But I can't get over the wrongness of the chicken curry. read more

Takeout was unappealing. I was going to order takeout but when I called, I was told that I would have to do it online and when I got online, it was going to take 45 mins. Another issue is that you can hear what everyone is saying in the kitchen. I'd probably give this place 3.5 stars but unable to leave half stars so I averaged up. This is one of my standard ramen places I'll drive an hour away for because it's so authentic and delicious. They make their ramen noodles in house with a machine you can see by the bathrooms. The ramen here is bursting with flavor and they have a generous portion of meat. They sort of scrimp on the egg giving you only a half which doesn't make much sense to me. The appetizers are also great. The Takoyaki is delicious. Chicken Kaarage is cooked and fried like most traditional Japanese places. They also serve green tea and black sesame ice cream. They also have some fantastic wall art that you could stare at for hours. It's enjoyable to just sit there looking at the art and use it as a talking point. If you're in the Rogers area looking for good ramen you can look no further, you've arrived. read more

The service was excellent here. We didn't have to want for much because as soon as our drinks started to get low, the server came and asked if we'd like a refill. I was waiting for the other member of my party to arrive and they made sure to ask if I wanted to order an appetizer while I waited. I got the pork gyoza as an appetizer and it was delicious. Usually when I get gyoza at other restaurants they'll pair it with a sodium filled dipping sauce, but they provided something more pleasant at this restaurant. For my main meal I got Spicy Chicken Kimchi (Brothless). This was a seasonal item so it may not be on the menu every time you visit. Everything was delicious and in just the right portion size.
