    Gold Kome Special
    Mansi P.

3.5/5 A little hidden ramen spot in downtown. I ordered the Gold Kome Special. The broth was nice, it had good flavor and was not bland. The potatoes were definitely something unusual for a ramen but it was a pleasant addition. The noodles were ok and there was a bit too much bean sprouts. The portion was pretty good for the price! Overall, it's a decent ramen for its price

Good ramen restaurant. Misoya is often quite crowded, with cramped seating--especially with jackets in the winter. Their staff are very no frills, they simply come to take your order and don't really interact much with you. We got the silver shiro spicy ramen and the gold special ramen. The silver shiro spicy ramen was really salty! But it was still tasty. I'm pretty adverse to salt, so it's hard for me to find ramen places that aren't too salty. I like the thick noodles though, they're nice and chewy. It also wasn't very spicy to me, although I'm used to a lot spicier. The gold special ramen was also quite salty, but still good. The meat was cooked nicely too. I can't say for sure if the ramen was worth it. The price is a little high for what you can get elsewhere, but it's pretty conveniently located.

*home delivery review* I already wrote a rave review a few months ago.. and for those wondering if the quality is just as good when delivered at home ... IT IS. Ordered the Kome miso for delivery and it was perfect. Generous portions, great packaging, really amazing and worth the wait. Don't let the pandemic stop you from satisfying your ramen craving!!

3.5 Stars I'm new to the Ramen world. I've been buying the 0.40$ ones forever and never really understood why I should pay more. My friends are big ramen fans though so now I'm exploring! This place is great for Concordia students even if they don't have a student discount. I got the special komemiso ramen which came with the meat and the egg. It was pretty good! A bit too salty but still tasty. The meat was a bit too much fat for my liking. Portions are huge but I think that goes for every ramen place. They have a punch card system. After 5 you get a free drink and at your 10th you get it free. The service is a bit slow but they're very nice and quick to clean up.

    Mugi Deluxe Ramen

I've ordered two Ramens (delivery): Miso Curry and Mugi Deluxe. I've added an extra piece of Miso grilled Cha-shu pork to the Miso Curry and some extra corn and some Miso ground pork (Nikumiso) to the Mugi Deluxe. The Ramens arrived pretty quickly and had the main ingredients separated from the broth to preserve consistency. Both Ramens smelled really good. The broth was thick and flavourful, and the thin ramen noodles had a good, mildly al dente consistency. The Miso Curry broth was mildly spicy, even though it wasn't specified on the dish itself. On the other hand, the eggs were overcooked and unappealing, the pork was dry and hard to chew on, and it was exactly the same deal with the Panko chicken (it felt like the meats were prepared well in advance and were left out to dry). I felt like the overall experience was disappointing and the quality of the Ramen didn't fit the price that was being charged for it. It ended up being more of a chore of finishing it up rather than enjoying the meal itself.

    Cha siu bowl with rice
    Paul J.

Service was alright. We arrived when it was slow, where it later picked up deeper into our dinner. Once it became busier, it became difficult to acquire any attention from the servers. The food was subpar and made of cheap ingredients. The bun had too much sauce which overwhelmed any other potential for flavour and the ramen bowl was much too salty. I might add that some of the toppings were unusual such as potato wedges and copious amounts of ginger. The broth, like the bun sauce, was very overwhelming due to its saltiness. Any dish in my experience that has broth as a base should be the main event, however this was inedible and left the mouth burning ( not from heat). I did however enjoy the cha siu rice bowl because of its price 6$ and quality of pork. I think I would have rather ordered 5 orders of the cha siu rice bowl and called it a meal, but alas it is a ramen establishment. I give it three stars for the initial service and rice bowl as well as some components of the ramen, but I can not say I would recommend this spot as opposed to closer, better, and cheaper locations around.

Spicy Gold Kame @Misoya in Montreal - add that egg miso, slurpable spicy broth.
    Penelope M.

A few hours in Montreal and we're already looking for ramen. I was just curious to see how they do ramen, north of New York. Their specialty here is a miso based broth. From that, there were three choices: Gold, Silver and Mame. I tried Gold, my daughter got the Silver and my son opted for a Tonkatsu broth. We all had them spicy. I think, mine was the best broth. The miso egg was nicely done; I topped it with some Kim chi and it was good. Chicken kara age with Kim chi was better partnership, though and that kara age was tasting crunchy delicious! The noodles were mediocre, and the ramen had too much bean sprouts. Overall, a pleasant enough ramen experience to welcome us to Montreal.

    Végétarien Tantan Miso
    Helene C.

When I saw that this place has vegetarian ramen, I immediately came here! The cook and the waitress are Japanese, so I believe it's authentic. I selected the Tantan Miso. My order came out quickly. The Tantan ramen has bamboo, bean sprouts, fried tofu, green scallions, shredded chili pepper. The miso broth is rich and mildly spicy. This was a delicious and satisfying ramen. They have 3 vegetarian options on their menu and I may be tempted to try the 2 other ones as well.

    Shrimp tempura

Truly a hole in the wall type of place. It's small so it's usually busy because it's near Concordia. I went on a Saturday night and even then we had to wait about 20 mins. Servers seem a little loopy like their minds are in the clouds. Unfortunately for us we were sitting in the middles the room with the door constantly opening and closing. I was hoping I wasn't going to get sick from the constant draft of cold air coming in. For starters we ordered: Kara-age chicken, Shrimp tempura and tokoyaki We weren't given plates to eat our starters on. Everything was so hot we had to place it on our napkins which was ridiculous! The chicken and shrimps weren't that good. Chicken wasn't crispy, shrimps were okay;it came with a regular tartar sauce. Tokoyaki's were actually good. Main course: 2 Tantan deluxe , Parmesan snow gold bowl (Special of the month I think), Gold kome special. The tantan's were good, Parmesan oddly a good mix and flavourful. The cha-shu was delicious. The gold kome was a little too salty but not bad in taste. Overall, the prices are average, great for students or if you're craving for ramen. Biggest turn off was eating my starters on a napkin!!!! The bathrooms are dirty, it needs a good cleaning but it's kinda expected for a restaurant like this.

Easily my favourite spot for ramen in Montreal. I've been going to Misoya since it opened in 2012/13 ish and have been in love ever since. My recent favourite is the Gold Kome Special, including cha-shu, soft boiled egg and potato toppings which are a perfect fit with the miso broth and noodles. The only thing I'd warn newcomers to is the salty nature of most of the items on the menu (which isn't a bad thing in my opinion). Other than that, if you're looking for a hearty, soulful meal, Misoya is the place to go

    gyoza
    Emil C.

Food: I ordered the Kome miso ramen and added an egg. I also had their gyoza. The meal came with a daikon salad. The daikon salad was a nice appetizer and the gyoza was also pretty good. Now for the ramen. It was a pretty decent bowl. The broth wasn't overpowering or too greasy. The flavor was good. The chashu was also not bad, probably the best part of the bowl. The noodles were also not bad. So bottom line, everything about their ramen was not bad. But it wasn't spectacular. Nothing to write home about, but if you need a hot bowl of ramen and you're nearby... why not? You're going to get a decent bowl of ramen here. Service: The service was friendly and great. No problems here. But keep in mind that I came here right when they opened so there wasn't anybody else eating there yet. A couple groups showed up during my meal, but it was never got too busy. Location: Pretty conveniently located near subway and bus stops. I didn't have a car for the weekend, but it was just an easy short walk to the restaurant. If you have a car, you'll probably need to find street parking. The restaurant is located in the basement of the building.

"Miso Tonkotsu Spicy" this was SO spicy. I forgot to mix it around underneath until the end...oops
    Melissa L.

They have a lot of options in terms of flavors for ramen, which at many places isn't likely, this was a definite plus. I ordered the "Miso Tonkotsu Spicy" this ramen was SO spicy. I drank 4 cups of water back to back on top of taking my boyfriends water out of his hands just to chug it. When I tell you this was spicy, I ain't exaggerating. I love spicy, but my mistake was that I left all of the "hot" on the bottom, which I didn't mix around. So yes, as you can probably imagine, I died nearly towards the end and that was when I had no choice but to drink an excessive amount of water. Is it strange that even though this was happening I kept eating it? As if weirdly enough, I still loved it, including the broth. Does anyone else do this who loves spicy food or is it just me? Probably just me. The service wasn't too welcoming. The place is tiny and there isn't much space to wait in, except for 2 or three steps where you're pretty much just standing in until there's a table cleared. No one came to us when the tables were clear either, no hostess, we just went and seated ourselves. I wouldn't come here expecting to eat the best ramen there ever was, but it gets the job done if you're craving it. I will leave you with this, I am not quite sure what they use to make the ramen as far as ingredients. I mean, I enjoyed mine despite me leaving with heartburn. But, my boyfriend on the other hand, did not order spicy flavored ramen and he had a VERY upset stomach afterwards. My tip: proceed with caution.

I really liked the tantan ramen. I took the basic one and added some stuff. The place is really small. As I arrived some table were free but I had to wait more than 5 min to be addressed and taken care of. Waiting is fine but at least please show me I am welcome. Anyway..This is the only let down. Otherwise the ramen were the best ever. They are not cheap I paid 18+ dollars for the ramen but it was really worth it. The 2 guys doing the service are friendly.

Even during peak summer season the restaurant was crowded and even had a line starting to form at peak lunch hour. There are not very many large tables so don't expect a large group to be sitting together. The menu is pretty straightforward with the typical miso, tonkotsu, and shoyu broths. But they even have a tomato broth with Hokato scallops for those more adventurous. We ordered the Tonkotsu Black $19 & the Tonkotsu+ $19. Is it pricey for Ramen? Yes. But was it worth it? Yes. The Tonkotsu Black had a rich broth with prominent garlic oil. The Tonkotsu+ was really the show stopper. With 3 different styles of meat: Smoked pork pastrami, meatballs & chashu. The truffle oil was fragrant and earthy. But the biggest surprise was shiitake mushrooms. They were marinated/seasoned to perfection, with a hint of sweetness. I would've been happy with just a giant bowl of shiitake mushrooms, and truffle oil. The broth was much lighter and delicate than the Tonkotsu Black, yet strong on the truffle. If you're not really a fan of truffle, do not get this. We were tempted to go back again, but we opted to try other restaurants around the downtown area. 10/10 Would go back again! The staff are very friendly and quick. Give it a try! They have multiple locations, especially if you're looking for something new, yet comforting.

I ordered the spicy garlic pork ramen with thick noodles, and I was blown away with how flavorful the broth and QQ (chewy) the noodles were. I didn't like the pork that much and found it a bit tough and gamey, but they do have two other types of meat (chicken, beef) as well as a vegetarian option available, as well as seasonal menu specials. However, no dipping sauce is provided, all other joints that I've been to will give you a mayo dipping sauce, not here. The Ramen - noodles were perfectly cooked, however honestly package ramen had a better flavor than their Original pork ramen unfortunately. I had expected this rich and creaminess of the pork broth, that was sticky-lipped intensifying, but it was not. This was disappointing and thus can only give 2 stars. I can't say for other noodle type, but original pork ramen needs a lot of work.
