Have been hearing about Ramen 101 from my friend who loves to go to the one in San Leandro & was pleasantly surprised to see one out here. We ordered the Hawaiian plates on phone for pick up, was glad to see outdoor seating available due to Covid times & with our CA fires going on, it was too Smokey & unsafe to eat outdoors right now. BF ordered the BBQ plate, I got the beef bowl & we shared a spam Musubi. Portions are decent. We both commented that it was A lot of rice compared to the main dish. Literally LOVE this ramen spot. My go-to is the "A". The tonkatsu ramen. The broth is amazing, the kikurage mushrooms are delicious and the boiled egg is perfect! The pork slices are perfect and tender! The tempura (veggie and shrimp) is delicious! Not over-breaded! What's great is that I can come here with my whole family and even those who don't want ramen have something to choose from. They have chicken katsu and other rice places (like the rice plates from L&L/Hawaiian drive inn). Everything is brought out FRESH and HOT! Other items we always get are: chicken kurage (not sure of the spelling), the grilled whole squid. All items so good! read more

The hawaiian bbq beef is cooked very well and has a good flavor to it. I ordered the beef plate with all rice & took out the macaroni salad. The spam musubi was rated to be very well by my sister who said it was one of the best ones she has had. My boyfriend got the tonkotsu ramen at the spiciest level and he said it was good. For him it wasn't spicy enough but for my sister it was too spicy. The worker was nice and the food was cooked very quickly, we barely had to wait. I've been eating at this place for months now. I really, really like it! I've never had a negative experience, I've gotten exactly what I've ordered, and it's always been tasty. I've only gotten to-go orders and the service has always been great. I've tried the chicken and seafood ramens, the chicken (both grilled and katsu) plates, the ribs plate, lumpia, veggie and shrimp tempura, and gyozas. All delish! I especially like that the portions aren't small. I usually get two meals out of one! My most fave dish though, had to be the chicken ramen medium spicy! Love the mushrooms in this soup. Ramen 101 became my go-to takeout spot for a good 2 months during this pandemic. I tried their ramen, but my regular order became the unagi rice + kaki fry. The unagi don is only $10, which to me is a steal. The portion size might seem small to some, but it was perfect for me. Their fried oysters are also perfect. Incredible crunch to them, and the oyster flavor isn't lost nor was it too greasy. I tried their tonkatsu and it was decent, but my obsession was definitely because of my regular order. read more

After reading some of the mixed reviews, I was hesitant to try this place. However, I love going in for myself and trying food before judging a book by its cover! SO GLAD I DID! We ordered two bowls of ramen, crab rangoons, and spam musubi. Everything was delicious! I have been craving ramen for awhile and this was the perfect fix. This place was... fine. It wasn't particularly mind blowing but I didn't dislike it. If nothing else, I much prefer the Hawaiian bbq plates here over the L&L down the road near City Sports. The tonkatsu ramen was... okay. It tasted like the ramen I would find at the frozen section at Costco. That's not necessarily a bad thing, mind you. I like Costco ramen. It was just underwhelming relative to my expectations. I would rather get a big box with multiple frozen Costco ramen bowls for the same price. I would not come back here for ramen but I sure would come here for a rice plate over the local L&L. And the service was good. Very good ramen with a nice casual ambiance. This is a franchise but all of their locations I've been too have been consistently delicious. Their broth is always rich with flavor. The noodles are the perfect size and texture. I wanted to try the black garlic chicken, but they mixed up my order and they gave me tonkotsu, although I was disappointed for not getting what I ordered I still thoroughly enjoyed the food. The portions for the ramen are very generous and I typically can't finish one bowl. I think they get minimal patrons eating in because the dining area had a lot of boxes of goods. Note this is during the pandemic and it is based on takeout which with Ramen can make a difference. So the Ramen really was nothing special. It was takeout, so I heard it tasted much better eating at the restaurant and getting it freshly hot. Broth was fine, I didn't like the blackened garlic and usually I do, maybe the black large pieces of garlic cloves just didn't look or taste as appetizing to me like burnt black taste. Lumpia was good. That went fast as always- should have ordered more because that went in seconds! My daughter thought her katsu dish was good. It was fine to me as I took a bite of it. OMG!!! I just took out a piece of metal from my mouth!!! It was hiding in the macaroni salad. I am disgusted and freaked out that it caused major indigestion. This place needs to be shut down. That girl was rude to my wife. We walked in and I told my wife to go ahead and take the remaining one table open. Pleasantly surprised when we tasted the food here because when we tried the Ramen 101 in Concord, the tonkarsu ramen lack taste. Service : 3 out of 5 The girl who took my order for it wrong. I ordered chicken karaage but ended up with chicken teriyaki. When we got to the place, the girl at the cash register is not friendly and actually ignored us for a few minutes. Also, they have a mic for when they talk to us but they can't hear us when we talk to them so it's a bit weird. Food : 5 out of 5 The food is very good. We ordered spam masubi which has the perfect ratio of spam and rice, mild tonkarsu ramen and mild black garlic ramen which are both good but the black garlic is tastier of you want them really flavorful, chicken teriyaki they mistakenly sold is which was cooked so good because they didn't just drizzled the sauce on top but instead it looks like it was marinated then cooked coz the sauce is really coated in thr chicken and the last but my favorite is the Chashu Pork over rice. The food is Always fresh, hot, and reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. When I placed my first order I thought the total of the bill was a little much for what I ordered, but when the food arrived I was stunned by the amount of food that fit in a takeout container and knew that I was getting a pretty good deal. I am so upset!! I want to start off saying I love thier food. I love the concord location. Today my husband went to pick up our order. He and I both do not like fish at all, thank god we are not allergic. We ordered both our ramens without fish cakes. He got our order and found that his had fish cake in it when he got to the car. So he went inside and nicely, because mistakes happen and he understand, told them he ordered it without fish cake. The guy gave him a look and then gave it to someone behind him and told them. Then my husband WATCHED THE GUY JUST REMOVE THE FISH CAKE AND HAND IT BACK. What if he had been allergic?! That could have been a horrible mistake!!! He then told them that was unacceptable and to make him a new one. In which case he gave my husband and look before taking it back. Happy to report that we finally have a Ramen and Hawaiian BBQ spot that we like! my husband and I have gone to their Dublin and Pleasanton locations during our commute back after work so we were looking forward to having a location nearby. Since it was too hot for Ramen we ordered Hawaiian BBQ with a side of spam musubi and were not disappointed. The portions were large, the meat was cooked tender, well seasoned, and the sautéed cabbage/broccoli were a plus. We ordered through their website for pickup and got a good discount. The food looks good.. that's about all this place has going for them. Food is outrageously priced for the quality. Mac salad was literally just noodles & mayonnaise (gross!). No salt no onion flavor. White rice was extra bland (didn't know that was possible). The meat flavor was OFF.. waaaay off. So off no one ate their meat (BBQ mix plate, Catsu chicken and teriyaki chicken). Exceeded my expectations. First time eating Ramen 101, we had been waiting a while for it to open so when we drove by and realized it was open we had to stop and try it. They had tables set up outside and despite it being 91 degrees we ordered the vegetable ramen , chicken ramen, prawn and veggie tempura and chicken/beef Hawaiian BBQ plate. It was delicious, broth was flavorful full , the meats had great flavor and the tempura was crunchy and hot and delicious. The most flavor I got was the saltiness of the egg yolk. The spam musubi had waaay too much rice and it was long grain instead of short grain. Instead of using a mold they made a rice ball and wrapped the nori around a piece of spam and the riceball. It was awkward to eat and as soon as you lifted it the rice immediately fell off. Beyond the saltiness of the spam there was no flavor. For this food and a small bottle of lemonade it was over 20 dollars and unfortunately I had to throw it away. We've passed by this place many times and we've finally tried them out. For me, Orenchi is my gold standard in the Bay Area when it comes to ramen hands down. Ramen 101 impressed me as I could tell from tasting the ramen that they did not rush in making the broth. Broth is the soul of any ramen. Ramen 101 flavors were rich and developed. Satisfied every slurp. Pork were tender and flavorful. Pork ribs fall off the bones and makes me happy eating it. Eggs were done right. Soft boiled with custard consistency and not hard boiled eggs. Not happy when I see hard boiled eggs in ramen. It's a disservice. The noodles were cooked just right, neither soggy or too hard. Badly cooked noodles can ruin everything! I was hesitant to order their kaki but I gave it a shot since I love oysters. It was nicely fried. The only missing item in this dish for me was the sauce which I find it odd unless they forgot to give it to us. Inside was not over cooked. Service needs work though. However, I realized during our meal that the cashier/server/busgirl had to hold down the forth unexpectedly by herself at the front of the house.
