I chose APM because it is a fully licensed, well-established family owned and operated business that has all five-star consumer ratings with Yelp and Google. Also, in researching potential companies I determined that APM's cost for their service was very reasonable. I dealt directly with the owner Brett Keller who was extremely accommodating with regard to setting up an appointment date for the test that would work for me. At the scheduled time and day (Friday) Brett met me at the property driving his work truck. It was in pristine condition and when Brett retrieved his equipment from the enclosed truck bed, I noticed that everything was clean, well-organized, and properly secured. Brett then sampled the suspect material and explained to me that the sample would be submitted to an independent lab for analysis, which was standard procedure done to ensure the integrity of the results. He said that because the lab wasn't operational over the weekend, I would not get the results of the analysis until approximately 4:00 p.m. the following Monday. Brett then unhurriedly detailed to me what the abatement process would entail should asbestos be present and I elected to have APM handle the work. The following Monday at approximately 1:00 p.m. I received from Brett an email containing a complete chain of custody document tracking the acquisition of the sample and its submission to the lab as well as the results of the analysis. Fortunately, the analysis was negative for the presence of asbestos. I was completely satisfied with APM's high-quality service and give it my strongest recommendation.

Eric specializes in window insulation so he gave us a lot of helpful tips on windows and care. Gary was also very helpful in explaining electrical box and regular routine maintenance for home so things last longer. Overall we were happy with the inspection I even told Gary and Eric I was going to give them 5 stars but then they ran into a problem with their software. The inspection was done on Saturday but we didn't get the report until Tuesday. During that time our realtor and lawyer kept asking for the report and we kept asking them for our report. Their team was responsive and they apologized for the delay. The inspection was good but because of the software issue and delay in getting the report, I took a star off.

I live in a ranch home built in the 1950s - a fairly common build for the Chicago area. ARC…read moreprovided a quote ( without visiting our home) that included the following sentence, "Please confirm exterior walls are framed 2x4". I told the rep that other companies have inspected our home and stated that our walls are suitable for blown in insulation. ARC never came to visit our home - while their competitors did this as a standard account management cycle. Fast forward to this week, I was ready to sign the agreement and pay the deposit - the rep asked me to confirm the 2x4 framing. I asked him how he wanted me to do this - he suggested I drill pilot holes in each wall or pay a 3rd party to do this and that ARC was not responsible for verifying the details of our home. Not responsible for validating a critical project detail before having you customer pay thousands of dollars?! Extremely poor customer service and frankly, a lazy sales team. I am sure the crews doing the work are great, but the accounts team could use a refresh. I will work with a competitor unless ARC has employees willing to visit their prospective customers!

If that were true, he would have seen the enormous…read morecracks poorly painted over, the HVAC ducts that had duct tape on them that are against building code. There were some foundation flaws that are setting me back $30K among others. I don't have the 30k for the repairs. The doors also don't close flush either. I have to slam the corners with my fist to close the interior doors. None of this was noted in my report. He was there before me and I was there 30 minutes early. I've "lived" here for almost a year with next to nothing because the money I had to furnish this place has been going toward repairs I was unaware of. I was told the roof and gutters are in great shape. The gutters and roof are garbage too.
