Today's officially St. Patricks day, but crowds of crazy green people came out Saturday night to kickoff to our annual St. Patrick's Day celebration with the 2nd Annual Reno Leprechaun Crawl, and I'm going to grab the First To Review rights to this bad boy! 4,000 people hit the tri-properties and downtown bars to enjoy green beverages and a great time with friends. For me, the highlight of the evening had to be all the great costumes, and seeing everyone enter for their chance to win $500 in the photo contest! From leprechauns to pots of gold and everything in between, Reno knows how to do it up! My favorite would have had to be the St. Patrick's Day Drinking Team, a big rowdy bunch donning Irish flags all over ready for a good time! Everywhere they went, a great vibe and party ensued! I hope they win! Next year I want to see a whole group dress up like the Lucky Charms! There's 365 days left to plan, so here's to hoping! All our guests were on the dance floor smiling and enjoying the range of tunes they played from songs my parents know and love to 90s hip hop to my favorite electronic beats. The diversity of what they can play was impressive, but the fact that they actually DJ live as opposed to hitting the play button on playlist was awesome. Our wedding was held outdoors in the Lower River BBQ area of Truckee Regional Park. All couples will tell you how important food is for their guest's experience but not many will go on and on about how important sound is. Yes I am a self proclaimed sound snob. I have hosted many large parties and know how quickly a bad sound system can ruin an event / how incredibly frustrating malfunctioning equipment can be. Getting a system to sound good indoors is hard enough / getting one to deliver outdoors is a whole other level of complexity. Our needs for our special day were a pretty demanding list: we needed to be mic'd up for our ceremony / needed amplified sound for a guitar soloist (and voice) / and needed a high level system at our reception for our incredible DJ. In addition to a tight set up window we also needed all the equipment broken down and hauled away late at night. Crux delivered on all levels. Zero feedback from our mics during the ceremony - our voices were easily heard by all - and our DJ was able to keep our feet moving all night long with no equipment issues.
