However, I do not like the way they bill for the food on handwritten tickets that you can barely understand the handwriting. be aware that they charge a gratuity on the handwritten check, but when they bring your credit card receipt back, the gratuity is not shown. If you don't know any better, you'd tip on top of the tip you've already paid. Visiting from out of town and the hotel staff recommended this restaurant. I was not a big fan. I ordered the shrimp and crab fettuccine Alfredo and it was really lacking flavor. I barely tasted the cheese in the sauce, it was all cream. My husband had the salmon and the sauce that came with it had too much white wine in it. I thought it over powered everything else. Our waitress was not friendly and seemed very rude. When she arrived with our check she barely let us look at it and just grabbed the credit card from my husband. This place has a classic vibe..meaning it's dated from the 70's. Needs a refresh. Was seated immediately on a Thursday at 7:30 PM. Not busy at all. Server came and asked us for drinks. Server never checked on how was the food. When she did, just asked if we wanted dessert and refilled our sodas which we didn't ask for because they charge you another $3.50, its not free refills. So 1st pic is Chicken Tuscana ( chicken was hot, veggies and cream were barely room temperature and it wasnt good), Chicken Fettuccini (it's not Alfredo sauce. Zero cheese, not good), chicken parm (that was good) and chicken piccata (that was good but they gave me a side of pasta in red sauce when I asked for it in the piccata sauce). Told the waitress who came back at least 15 minutes after asking us if we wanted dessert. Told her about the issue. Was gonna talk to the chef. They said they would take off half of the Alfredo dish since my son ate half. Says in the menu they add gratuity for parties of 6 or more. We got our bill and couldn't figure out what this one charge was. Asked the waitress who said it was an 18% gratuity added. We were a party of 4. If the service was great, then fine. This wasn't. This was 15% if you felt generous. This place seems like youve seen it on an episode of Kitchen Nightmare. Again, 2 of the 4 dishes were good, not like wow just good. If you're not from NY/NJ or don't have Italian grandparents, then you may find this place "fantastic" as some of the google reviews show. If you do, you know what good Italian food should be and this isn't it. I mean seriously, how do you screw up Alfredo sauce? Main ingredient is cheese and you forgot to add it? We have been dining here since we first discovered it back in 2001. The service is always good. The food is almost always excellent. Only one time in the 21 years we have been dining here did we experience sub par food. The decor is is out of date as is the building. Although we enjoy the nostalgic feeling with a bit of a 90's twist. The prices are reasonable for the quality of the food and service provided. With all the constant changes around MB (a lot of negative) ,it's nice to still have a familiar place with exactly what we expect. If you don't mind or you like nostalgia this may be the Italian restaurant you have been looking for. One other note. This is definitely patronized by an older family oriented clientele. We were here during spring break, when it's VERY busy on the strip. To our surprise, this gem had open tables right away. Our party had the Sausage and Peppers Rustica, Shrimp Scampi, and Lasagna. Each meal was SPECTACULAR and we'll be going back every time we're in the area. I have to say, if you like spicy food, do yourself a favor and get the Sausage and Peppers Rustica. The sausage is crisp on the edges, the penne in the dish is great and you can't beat the spicy red sauce. Disappointing... we received a coupon from our hotel for this restaurant so we decided to check it out started off fine host was nice server seemed nice until she seen our coupon on table she proceeded to ask us if we made sure we read it and as she walked away made sure to rudely add its after tax and tip now this wouldn't have bothered us because we get it im sure theres been issues in the passed but it does just add insult to injury with what followed we got our drinks and my husband before checking the glass poured his beer into but then right away noticed the glass was dirty no biggie but she proceeds to argue that thats not dirt its frost on the glass then without saying anything grabs his glass and walks away she dropped off our salads so while she was getting the new drink we unwrap our silverware my husbands were dirty mine were okay and the side plates were also dirty so when she comes back with his beer we start to tell her nicely mind you that its dirty and she just says let me grab you someone we watch her go to the managers and they all stare at us till one finally comes over we start to explain how its dirty and we feel as soon as she saw the coupon the server got a bit rude and the manager straight before we could even explain because truthfully it wasn't that big of a deal sometimes dirty dishes get over looked she says if you don't like the service you can stay or leave so we got up and left in shock that it was escalated like this. When we walked in it felt like we were in an old school Italian restaurant. The staff was waiting at the hostess stand to check us in and we were seated immediately. Our waiter was an older gentleman who was very polite and joked around with us a little bit. We started with the fried ravioli appetizer and knew we were going to be in for a treat. The sauce with the ravioli was on the sweeter side, which is how my husband and I prefer it so no complaints there. The meal comes with a garlic bread basket which was nice. I ordered the chicken Alfredo. The meal came out and looked like it had frozen boneless chicken wings on it, but was pleasantly surprised after biting into one that it tasted like fresh chicken with a great seasoning on the breading. The Alfredo sauce was really good as well and the portion was big. My husband got the spaghetti and meatball and enjoyed his as well and said it tasted like a homemade meatball. The only negative I will add is on the menu it appeared to list the pasta as homemade, the pasta we got did not taste like any homemade pasta I have ever had and definitely appeared to be more of a boxed pasta, but that didn't take away from the taste. I bet we killed at least 10 during our meal. It was so bad that I set a container of Italian dressing aside hoping they would be attracted to that and leave us alone. Average Italian fare and I'm admittedly very biased having grown up with a 1st generation Italian American mom who was a wonderful cook. The piece of veal in my veal picatta was top notch & cooked to perfection but it was overwhelmed by the heavy hand of the dry white vermouth I'm guessing was used in the sauce. If they used half the amount of alcohol and added another couple of of teaspoons of lemon juice, the dish would have been perfect. A couple of true slices of lemon instead of the pithy ends would have helped, too. The side of pasta was generous. My husband had the Fruti de Mare. Good amount of seafood. My family and I went to Ramando's last night for dinner. I was hesitant because some people have left some negative reviews but I'm here to tell you that this was the best meal I have had in a long time. Probably the very best Italian food I've ever had. I had the Chicken Ramandos and it was fabulous. My husband got the scallops and shrimp monray and it was also very good. My children got the kid's spaghetti and ravioli and they enjoyed it.
