I stayed here on a quick night to rest my head and leave the next morning on a road trip. If it weren't for that, I would've went somewhere else. The hotel is disgusting. My room smelled, the entire hotel had an odd smell. I didn't even walk around the room or shower without my flip flops on. The comforter was visibly dirty, towels had hair stuck to them, the floor still had water settled on it. Looked like the water pipe leaking through the ceiling tile in the shower, office chair had stains and spilled streaks on it that could've just been wiped off. I would never let my wife and step daughter stay here. Beyond ridiculous that a company even lets people pay for those rooms. The back door where I entered closest to my room didn't lock or work with key cards regardless. After that experience, I'll never stay at another Red Roof Inn anywhere in the future. read more

The pool was absolutely disgusting! Water was murky and the whole place smelled bad and something went wrong with the boiler and we had to stand outside in the freezing cold in our bathing suits until the fire department cleared it. In the morning the Staff glared at us when we took food to our room to be fair there was a sign saying don't do that, but they couldn't stop us for bringing outside food even if they wanted to. Is this the Cecil Hotel? Because this really feels like I'm staying at the Cecil Hotel. My fiancé and I travel for work and we had a little down time so we decided to get a hotel. He booked on hotels.com and thought it was a decent price for a RedRoof. Upon checking in, the Lobby was nice, and looked kinda fancy. (Sound familiar?) But that is where it stopped. (Also sound familiar?) Walking down the hallway you notice that the room doors and hallway look a little rough. We get to our room and at first glance it looked ok, but as we started to settle, we start noticing how gross it really is. It stinks. Bad. All those reviews are true. It's absolutely just some horrible lingering smell of something. Doors slamming. Our door looks like it was busted at on point. Busted down wouldn't surprise me. They don't lock the emergency door. Just clarify from the start - the staff was very quick, courteous, helpful, and friendly. That being said, don't stay here. When we first checked in we were directed to a room that had not yet been turned over from the previous guest. So we walked into unmade beds, used towels on the floor, full trash cans, etc. Once we were directed to a room that had been seen to... it was only mildly better. There were unidentified stains on a pillowcase and a lampshade. There was an immense amount of dirt and dust in and on the A/C unit. Most alarmingly there was an unidentified substance built up on, if not growing on, the phone. This was an awful location. The staff were all very friendly and helpful but it's clear that the owners just don't care to make sure the location is kept up well. We had mold, grime, flies, chipped paint. We were missing a dead bolt for our room and a fire detector. The room just really felt dirty and gross. The staff were all very nice and when I raised concerns they moved us to another room which at least felt a little more clean (and didn't have mold). However the new room still didn't have a fire detector and we still had flies. When we first arrived there were piles of trash in the hallways and it was just not good. We didn't see any roaches or anything but I'm not surprised other reviewers mention them since there was trash everywhere. I am a guest here at the Red Roof Inn & Conference here in Lubbock, Texas. I will not and would not recommend anyone to stay here. When I came to my room it had a musty smell had to turn AC on. Phone had no directory to call for front desk, maid service, etc. One of the lamps needed a light bulb. I had to call the front desk from my phone. When the front desk answered I told the person at the front desk that I had to call from my phone. I told her I needed a light bulb, she said she was the only one there and I needed to go downstairs to get the light bulb. I also told her the issue with the phone. She didn't show any concern on the phone issue. When I turned down the covers to go on the bed, I noticed stains on the sheets. I slept on the covers. The bathroom ceiling is all water damaged. This morning I called the front desk for a no disturb sign and again, I was told I had to the front desk to get the sign. Also they ran out of towels and wash cloths, wasn't coming in for a few days. My cousin said when they checked in after midnight, no towels, toilet paper and bath soap. We will never recommend this Red Roof Inn at Lubbock, Texas or any other Red Roof Inn! I checked out and made reservations right down the street at Best Western Plus Windsor. read more

If I could give this no stars I would. As we get on the elevator the tiles are broken. I wish that was the worst. We get off the elevator and the floors have clearly not been vacuumed for many days. We get to our room...and it's open...we go in nervous and the bed and towels have stains. We decide it's just one night we can deal so we start to unpack and discover the smoke detector in the drawer!!! The bath tub has scratches and the whole room smelt like chlorine. The door we discovered did not have a latch to it! So we ask to switch rooms and she accommodates us. We move and the room we thought was better but still had issues. The smell was gone, the bed still had a stain, the smoke detector was attached, and the door had a latch! However the toilet ran constantly and the seat had chips missing out of it. We get into the bed and the head board falls down! The lamp beside the bed isn't plugged in and there's no way to use it for the lamp or the connecting chargers. And the drawers are full of crumbs and trash such as a corn dog stick, used cups, and wrappers. We decide to go down to the pool and it is so dirty. The bubble in the hot tub don't work. The spa isn't operational. And the things floating in the pool were disgusting. read more

We have been coming here for years. It has never been the cleanest place, but we choose it for the indoor pool and the no fee pet policy. However, I think this will be our last visit. The pool was cloudy and my husband didn't feel comfort going in. There are other, less expensive, motels with no fee pet policies. My complaints are: the front desk guy talked fast and was hard to understand on the phone, the room was is disrepair, and the floor was GROSS. My feet were black after walking on in barefoot and I after a shower I wouldn't walk on it without shoes. For $70+ I expect more from a hotel. The one saving grace was that the continental breakfast is really good. They know how to make good eggs which we did not experience at other Red Roof inns. read more

This hotel is THE ULTIMATE WORST. Immediately after you walk in the doors and head to the front desk you can tell what your experience will be. You can smell a funky scent that is a mix of pool chemicals and mold. Just awful smells. When we get to the front dest they have a tremendous disorganization, you can tell that loos more like a "get your taxes done fast and cheap" place and not a hotel lobby/front desk. After we get our keys we head to our room (253). The hallways smelled horrible. Just think of it like the smell of the dirties gas station restroom with no air conditioner, can you imagine the smell now? We finally get into our room to escape the awful smell in the hallway and our room stinks so much more than the hallway!!!! We could believe the smell would get worst once in what was supposed to be a nice clean room. The beds didn't have fitted sheets, there was something like semen splashed all over the TV screen, the mattress were horribly stained with pee, food, beer, coffee, or probably diarrhea. The other mattress had bare wires and one of then would poke you when you sat down on it! Overall it was the most unsanitary and dirties and awful smelling hotel i have ever seen in my life. We checked in and 10 minutes later, with a raspy throat from inhaling the crap I smelled, we were at the front desk checking out again. We had trouble finding another hotel but thank god we did find one. This hotel's slogan should be DGAF! My boyfriend and I stayed her after a long drive. We got in around 12p and walking into the hotel I heard the sound of a water fountain which to me means...Fancy! Keep in mind I was very tired and it was dark. We walked in our room and it looked like whoever painted the room committed a heinous crime on a can of white paint. It looked like a CSI episode but instead of blood everywhere it was white paint. On the floor, on the curtains. I am not an expert painter, in fact I am the worst but even I know you need a drop cloth and you remove the curtains before painting. And the accent wall you can tell they did not understand the concept of painters tape because the accent wall color bled onto the white wall. I'm like whatever, a little jackson pollock never hurt nobody. Apparently the cleaning people also DGAF because it was also very dirty. Random toys on the floor, stickers on the mirrors and the pillows! My God the pillows!!! They looked as if someone used them to dust (which would partially dispute my very dirty claim). I don't write bad reviews lightly. Besides the fact that the front desk employees were very nice and accommodating, this place was one of the worst 'Inns' I've ever been to. Dirty, loud, floors in our room were sticky, bedspread was stained, bed was NOT comfortable at all and seemingly zero up-keep of the hotel itself and grounds. The interior rooms have to contend with a cavernous main space that echos and does not lend itself to the obliviousness of most people these days. We needed a couple of last-minute rooms late tonight in Lubbock. Found this place on Booking.com and the price was right. Hotel is an old Ramada Inn, and it's pretty obvious that it has not been updated since the mid-90's. Paint is worn, carpet is worn out, and it just does not have a fresh feel to it at all. The bathrooms were not clean, dust everywhere, odd smell, there were clumps of what looked like pizza sauce on the carpet, and the a/c unit looked like someone had smashed it repeatedly with a baseball bat. Also the shower in one of our rooms did not function at all. Beds are long overdue for replacement...not very comfortable. Staff was nice, but nothing was done about these problems, which was lame. I know that you get what you pay for, and it is true for this Red Roof Inn. Easily the worst chain hotel I've ever stayed in. Save your money...find another place. I have to say that after I contacted the manager and RRI (corporate), they did refund the entire amount for the rooms. That was more than I expected, and the reason for 2 stars. The first room's A.C. and toilet did not work. The second room's A.C. did not work. The third room had bed bugs. Please keep in mind this is after I was refused check-in by the front desk employee due to the "system being down" (which by the way she was not even capable of communicating clearly to start) while she sat there on the phone laughing with a friend. Not to mention this employee was spewing out profanity, one of which words included the "n" word (mind you, this same employee did not have an ounce of blackness to her). The $10-30 you will save booking with Red Roof is not worth it, I promise you, and this coming from a budget traveller. read more

The good news is that this hotel must be a great money maker. It is full. The bad news is that no one seems to have spent any money on maintenance. The pool is not available. The lobby is very hot. Many rooms have air conditioning hot air exhaust that empties into the lobby. My room had a door that had been kicked in. Slow old toilet. A shower from a crime seen with red drops permanently near the drain. The TV was fuzzy. Only one lamp worked. A high percentage of the guests wore light to heavy tattoos. No working Wifi. There is a bar lounge with loud music that was booming until 1 AM. The funny part is that the lobby has a sign that says Quiet Hours 11pm to 6 am. I hurried back to my room when I saw him turning to head my way again. The one good thing about this place is after my son called to tell them his mother was scared and alone they did take action. (No phones in rooms, and I had no internet) They called police and found out the man's description and his vehicle. He was not even staying at the hotel. The security cameras do not work. However the security officer was very kind and gave me his number if I was scared again and he said he would patrol my room area often. Do not stay here if you can afford a better place. Unsafe. In the middle of our 2 week stay, our key card stopped working, so we waited at the front desk for 20 minutes before the night front desk guy came to the counter. And then, he refused to give us a new keycard because my name wasnt on the room. Understandable. Except that when we checked in, they used my i.d. to book the room. So the fact that he could only find my co-worker's name on the reservation did not make sense. I asked to speak to the manager. He said he did not have their number. Or anyone's number that worked there. Lie. My coworker came, the guy supposedly added my name to the reservation. We got our key. Last night, our key card stopped working, so my coworker went down to get it reprogrammed. He waited at the front deak for 20 minutes, again. No sign of the front desk guy. I called the hotel and he answered the phone, i asked him to please come to the front desk. He said he was on his way. The bartender, Mike, went and knocked at the guy's hotel room door, he said he was coming. Finally, the security guard called him, and again, he said he was coming. He finally came and gave us the key. Tonight, our key stopped working again. The front desk area's lights were completely off, and, as usual, he was nowhere to be seen. I rang the bell 3 times and waited. I started to call the hotel, and he showed up. Saying ", why the fuck are you ringing the bell so much? Don't ring the bell. My daughter just died 2 days ago! Im not trying to be a dick but dont ring the bell!" I said sorry to hear about his loss, but i need a new key and, the bell was there to call him, since he wasnt there, right? He asked me my room number. I told him. He said my name wasnt on the reservation. I was like.. dude, youre the one who added my name to the room a few days ago! He said he remembered, but we must have changed rooms. I told him my coworker's name, he said he couldnt tell me if his name was on the room or not, but i was not getting a key. I asked for the manager again. He Said he was the manager. I asked for the 1800 number. He pointed to a paper on a wall with a number that was too far away to be seen. I asked for the paper. He said he wasnt obligated to give it to me. He then took it down from the wall. I told him we had to get into the room, and if he wouldnt call his manager or give me the 1800#, id have to call the police. He said to do what i had to do. I rang the bell at that point. Yes. I did. And then he called the police. I called my coworker, he would not give him the key either because our room is in the name of our employer, who is in Oklahoma. He said our employer had to be here for us to get a key. He then reached over and grabbed the bell from within my reach, mentioning, again, how his daughter had just died and how he didnt care about this job. My coworker freaked out when he grabbed the bell feom my hand and asked me to go upstairs. 2nd person, the guy who sent her to our room. I told her to go to the room. I continued to argue with him, and he kept making comments about being in prison and having a tendency of getting aggressive and attacking guests. Finally, the police arrived. At that point, he agreed to accepting my boss's I.D. over FaceTime and then gave me my key. Our company will not be doing business with this location in the future and we suggest that you dont either, unless they get rid of employees like this. read more

This place is essentially an outdated motel with a village theme with a Red Roof sign in front. Don't get your hopes up with it being a Red Roof motel, it's by signage only. I've stayed at Red Roof Inns almost exclusively over the years. This location is worst one. Red Roof should be ashamed to have their name associated with this motel. The building needs a lot of TLC. Renovations were under way in one area. Our room was 77 decent, the mattress was cozy and comfortable. I slept excellent both nights, a rarity for myself when traveling. I know the whole "you get what you pay for" thing, but I'd rather have stayed at a motel 6 or gone camping than stayed here. The room we were first given did not look like it had been cleaned at all. There was a curious white powder residue all over the bathroom counter. The coffee maker had an old used coffee filter in it still, plus coffee stains all over the counter. There were no towels or amenities put in the bathroom. We walked into the main room area and noticed more stains on the walls and dirt of the floor. Glanced at the couch only to find multiple white stains all over it. We decided to go ask for a new room at this point. They complied and gave us a new one across the hall. This room looked like it had been cleaned, but with minimal effort. The room smelled bad and the toilet had mold growing in it. Also, the wifi would not work because we were in the far corner of the hotel. Luckily we are from out of state and will not ever be staying here again. Checked in with two adults, two 50 pound plus dogs, $45 for the night. Walked down to the fitness center and worked out on the stair stepper fr 30 minutes, then took a swim in the pool. Next morning woke up early and enjoyed a delicious hot breakfast of biscuits and gravy, eggs, and a bagel with fruit juices. Washed a load of laundry and paid a couple bills in the business center while the clothes dried. Wow. Worst hotel visit ever! Ditto all the previous remarks re stale cigarettes, chlorine, food from previous guests in the fridge and microwave, PLUS: The door to each room has a spring in the door hinge that automatically SLAMS the door even if held 2 inches open. These in echoing hallways. What hotel guest wants to leave his door open anyway? This is a solution to a problem that didn't exist! So the slamming went on all night. It wasn't restful.
