The local grocery store that caters to everyone. Of course we all need that. Also a positive thing, they still have the gold star machine for converting change into cash....lol... We all have that jar or tin where all the loose spare change gets tossed into. After years of tossing the loose change away, it was time to bring it in for actual cash. There was actually another store that I popped into but their machine was out of order. This Ralph still has there up front right by the floral and self serve register. It's as simple as it gets when using it. Touch the screen to start. From there, toss all the loose coins into the tray and start. It sorts it out and counts the coins for you. Anything that isn't a normal coins gets dispensed down to the return slot. Once you finish, it breaks down and count the totals amount of coins counted. The breakdown of everything that was accepted. To cash out, they print out a voucher where it can be used for purchase or cash from the register. Simple as that. Oh, they do take a certain amount for the fee. Anyways, it's old school but with the coins but it does come in handy... lol... Store, it's your local spot where the neighborhood shop. Depending on when you come, early or evening tends to be when the restocking happens. Throughout the day, it happens but rarely as they rather have it done when the store is less busy. The produce is always pretty fresh with the regular and organic. Meats has alway been great whenever I'm there. Seafood, they have a decent selections. Some stores more than others but it does the trick. Hot deli section has a good selections of premade item. Depending on what day you visit, they have deals. Like fried chicken, rotisserie chicken, pizzas and so on. Different day different special. When checking out, sometimes it's faster to do self check out. But where there's loads in your cart, it's probably a better bet to go into the lines as the groceries does pile up and trying to bag yourself can be a bitch. There's not much negative about this place as it's a pretty straight shot. Plenty of parking in the lot. read more

This makes the second time in a month we've come home to find that we were being cheated by their butcher. Last week we asked for a steak in the window. We just assumed we'd get the top one. We find out when we got home he wrapped up one from the bottom that was full of tough fat all around the edges and in large chunks through the steak. It has maybe five good bites on the on the whole 18 dollar steak. Today we asked for beef short ribs. The package he pointed us to was five ribs with only meat showing. They looked great. We drive home and find out they are all bone. The very edge had meet on it which showed through the cellophane. There's maybe a dozen bites of beef on this 24.00 pack of beef ribs. Fruit that goes bad in two days has been something we've seen at Ralph's. Higher prices. Less coupons in the mail. Guess Ralph's is cutting corners and the customers are paying the price. read more

I've only ever come to this location to pick up one or two quick things. I've never done my weekly shopping here because it's not convenient to where I live. This location is very unassuming from the outside. Once inside it feels so much bigger (probably due to the very high ceiling) and just so inviting. I love that front and center is a huge produce section. You can tell they really want to highlight the fresh food they have. It's unlike any other Ralph's in the area. Staff here is friendly, but I will also admit I have had minimal experience with them. However, the few times I've needed to find something, they've very happily pointed me in the right direction. Honestly, if I lived closer to this location I would be happy to make this my go to regular Ralph's. It's a great location. read more

This store needs a lesson on how to engage a customer and provide friendly service. Just about every employee in this store has no people skills. They don't know how to give friendly service. They don't acknowledge your presence, especially when they are in the way with their rolling carts stocking shelves. All are afraid of making eye contact with customers. Don't know how to smile and have the understanding that the customer is the reason they have a job in the first place. Poor communication skills. Not wearing proper work attire. Not saying thank you to everyone leaving the store. Overall, they don't get it and can't seem to get it together. Poorly run store!! Been coming to this Ralph's location for 50+ years. Recently the entire store got a much needed overhaul. They moved the isles to make more space and limited the in isle displays that clogged the isles. They also fixed the floor which was in poor condition. All these improvements have made it a much better shopping experience read more

There are children with backpacks using predatory tactics, following and pressuring customers even after being told no. A solid location! Sometimes it feels a little cramped right when you enter with all of those bins with specials. Store is well organized and it's easy to find things. Shelves are always stocked and they always have plenty of seasonal items. Great flowers and balloon if you need! They have a nice liquor section with plenty of wine options. Lines move quick and I've always experienced good customer service. Love that there is lots of parking here too! I feel like Ralphs has definitely stepped up their produce game. They always have what I need and the Kroger branded items usually have decent prices. Meat section also has a great variety and the inventory looks fresh. Overall, a great location and I'll keep coming back! read more

OK, it's been about seven years since I first reviewed this Ralph's; it might be time for an update. I've lived in the neighborhood for 35+ years and the store is literally within a half mile of my house. Sometimes I used to just walk there if I only needed a few things. They had steady employees (I still remember the cashier that was the spitting image of Vickie Lawrence, who was the spitting image of Carol Burnett, which shows you how old I am). In the past few years the aisles have become even more clogged than before. Just try pushing your cart through the freezer aisle on the east side of the store if there's more than one cart already there; you can't do it. Even the front of the store when you first walk in is so cluttered so that you can barely get a cart through. The checkout lines are abysmally long. I only shop there now if I need a last minute item while I'm making dinner, and only if it has a bar code so that I can skip the checkout lines. Instead I go to Vallarta, Gelsons, Greenland Market, etc., all much further away. And stop with the giggly voiced woman inundating us with overhead announcements, and the automated PA announcements that don't benefit any customers at all. "... Please check the application. One, Zero, One...", which plays every few minutes. Is that how you make a pleasant shopping experience? read more

I wish I didn't have to give one star. I received the worst customer service ever at this Ralph's and it was at the register checking out. I am not sure if this guy is the manager, but he definitely should not be in any position where he comes in contact with customers. I noticed a difference in how he spoke to and treated the staff verse the actual customers. He was picking and choosing who he would be nice to and who be would greet or not greet. While I was checking out, my bill was $117, so I handed the guy $16 in cash and told him I would put the rest on my card. Well, he didn't hear me, so he says did you give me $116 in cash? And I said no, and repeated myself, all the while trying to return something I had in my cart before the transaction was finalized but this guy was rushing me and being rude and before that there was no customer behind me, one was just walking up. While at the same time I was putting back things that I had put in my cart - but separated because I was indecisive. For instance some individual sliced cakes, I decided to put back because I am making a cake for the holiday. Anyway, Well, this seem to bother the guy, and he was not the cashier but he was instructing the cashier to take his attention off of me once the transaction was completed and he begin to help the next customer. When I noticed there was something in my cart, I didn't want, and I wanted to get a refund, he told me to step to the side and told the cashier to ignore me (rude) and some other words that were offensive towards me. I don't even want to put any more energy into this review about this man's disdane and ignorance towards me but I will say, the customers in the store had better customer service and they don't even work there! I noticed the alcohol, a bottle of wine, which whoever made the rule that you can't return an alcoholic beverage once you purchased it, and you are still in the store, is dumb. If you haven't left the store, you should be able to return with a receipt everything you purchased but I digress. Had he not rushed me, I would have been able to take it off before he rang me up but he was so disturbed I was putting back items... steer clear of this store if you are looking for good customer service and check out with a smile. He pulled my cart to the side and had me standing there and I had to ask him who is going to help me. So he takes me to the self check out and passed me to a lady. He made me pull out the receipt even though he just saw me purchase the stuff and I had so many Ralph's receipts, but once I found the right one she was nice enough to give me a refund for the few items I put back and she gave me cash instead of sending it back to the bank inconsideration of the holiday. This guy, smh. I will be back and I am going to file a formal complaint because he was rude and nasty and mean. Unnecessarily. Other than that, its a beautiful, clean store with everything you are looking for, just steer clear of the employees - they are probably miserable because of the management team. read more

I have been shopping at Ralph's for over 13 years. I don't know what is going on but I have seen at least 2 vicious dogs brought in by customer's while they were shopping. On one occasion there was a dog on a leash barking, lunging, and snarling at some children standing nearby. Another time some guy had a dog in a shopping cart barking and snapping at people standing line. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!! What is going on? This has become a public nuisance and a danger to customers ESPECIALLY to young children who could be seriously bitten or mauled!!! Not only that unless the dog is a service dog, there is NO need to bring a large dog into a store around food!!! read more

Every disappointed with how many times the lady had to watch the scan video to see that I wasn't stealing. A error happened with the machine that I can clearly see the first time. This is the worst markets I have been to. Expired products, mold on bread that is on shelve, mold, rotten vegetables & fruit. During their cosmetic renovations, they literally block off half of the store, making it impossible for customers to purchase items. Shouldn't this be done when store is closed? I'm giving a 2 because they actually had the sodas I was looking for. If not for that, I would've given 1 star. Lots of parking but there was absolutely NO CARTS to be found. I even asked a store worker and she was not helpful at all. She said there was a shortage of carts.... you think?!?! and offered me a basket. Like really??? How was I supposed to fit 8 12packs of soda in that. She had no answer for that. Needless to say, I found a broken cart with horrible wheels but I didn't really have a choice. This is my neighborhood Ralph's, and I usually have no problem with the produce, cleanliness and whatever else people care about. My problem is how the staff behave. The off hand comments are common, I usually ignore them. But this instance has crossed the line. The mid forties man with black and grey hair and glasses made a comment as I was buying gorilla glue. He looked at the picture of the gorilla, then said "this looks that guy with the big lips," I can't say for certain, but I understood it as him making a comment on one and only African American worker in that store. As a black woman myself, this is completely inappropriate and down right disgusting. What message is Ralph's trying to send when their employees speak this way in front of customers. I wish I could give a negative star review, because one star is too good for this store! I shopped in this store early in the morning and had a shopping cart that was nearly full. I looked for a clerk at the checkout stand, but there were none. I asked the clerk by the self-checkout if there was someone who could help me, but he said "No, it's just me right now". There were hardly any customers there, but did he offer to help me? NO. He just stood there. I had to check out $225.00 dollars worth of groceries and bag them by myself while he just stood there doing NOTHING. Good customer service is a thing of the past, and apathetic idiots like this store clerk are the reason why. You'd think that for an extremely wealthy business like Kroeger's that they could hire employees who actually want to be of service to their customers. Horrible location. Spoke to the manager after filing a complaint about Oliver and his unfriendly attitude. I say thank you and please he never says anything, NEVER smiles, he is miserable. I am a regular customer at this store as is my husband. It's near my home and I've been shopping here almost exclusively since I moved to the Valley14 years ago. The front end manager is a very rude person! He treated me so badly that I actually wrote to Kroger but got no response! I guess they don't care! Last week I was checking out and I had a bottle of Pepsi - which the man at the register rang up. As it was going down the belt I took it and placed it in the cart so that I could drink it when I got to my car. As he handed me my receipt he asked if I had paid for the soda! I said yes and asked if he wanted to see My receipt. He took it and went over it with a fined tooth comb until he saw that soda - which he had just rung up. I was very embarrassed with people behind me thinking I'm a thief! Today I was checking out with the same man and I had three reusable bags with me. Since I only bought a few things - I placed one bag on the belt with my groceries! It was folded and you could tell it was used and he asked if I had bought the bag! I said that I had! I purchased a greeting card and after he rang it up I placed it in my cart. Along comes a woman to bag my groceries and she points at the card in my cart and yells "don't forget the card"! I said that I had already paid for it and the man just looked at me and didn't back me up! What is it with this place!?! I think I will move on. I don't need to be treated like that! I love this Ralph's. However, I moved to Encino and the Ralph's in Encino is NOTHING compared to this Ralph's customer service, cleanliness, and ambiance. Food is always in stock here too which I'm not often guaranteed from the Encino location. Terrible customer service at the Encino location will now have me driving a bit longer to come here where it feels neighborly, friendly, and stocked. read more

This Ralphs is completely understaffed. The manager does not know how to do anything. She asks all other employees to solve issues that I am sure she gets paid very well to solve herself. Online pick up closes when the ONE employee that works in that department leaves. Completely ridiculous. Great parking and that's about all that's good. Used to be our go to market but since the union strike, it's changed. Back in the day the checkers knew most regulars by name. They would ask about one's family and knew when customers had a little extra something going on. Now most of the old staff are gone and there are a bunch of kids working in every department. Negatives- Most of the time there aren't any carts to be had. Never enough checkers. As for baggers, what's that? The current employees when present just want to be on their phones, talk to each other, they can't answer a simple question. They have no desire to talk to customers or even make eye contact. Many products aren't sold anymore. If it isn't Kroger they don't carry it. The store isn't stalked most of the time. This is one of the dirtiest places that involves food I've ever been to. NASTY!!! I came today to get some items from the produce section and it was like it usually is, not fresh and a lot of old/damages fruit and veggies. I know it's Easter so I felt maybe it was just the holiday but when I asked about Lemonade I was told that they have some but put it out on Tuesday. I've come here on several occasions and the only reason I gave it 2 stars is because it's not to far from where I live. The energy at this Ralphs is off as well. The workers seem to always have a bad day/attitude and this rubs off on the customers. If you have another option I'd go there because this location isn't the best option. read more

COVID19 REVIEW: I was in the area and decided to check out this Ralphs location before heading home. I am hesitant to shop at the Van Nuys Blvd/Burbank location because of their increased numbers of COVID cases this was my alternative choice. I thought this Ralphs location was very organized and clean. First of all, there were 2 security guards outside to ensure that there wasn't any looting that would occur due to recent circumstances. The staff was also very patient and helpful with the customers even during these difficult times. Walking inside I noticed everything was clean. I also heard recurring reminders on the loudspeaker telling the employees to regularly sanitize and clean certain areas. I had not heard that in other Ralphs locations before today. There are self-checkout lanes as well as the regular checkout lanes and there are the usual social distancing markers on the floor. The only difficult part about this location is that it is in a plaza with a number of other businesses - Rite Aid, Cold Stones, Chase, etc - so parking can be an issue, but otherwise I would come back to this location in the future. read more
