Customer service wise, this Ralph's is a joke. I would shop here frequently between 6-9pm and there's always only one person at a register. It would take me 10-15 minutes just to purchase a liquor item. Because of this, I go to the Ralph's location on Portola, which is far superior on staffing and getting customers out. read more

This is my go to ralph's since I live in the neighborhood across and I've never had any issues buying alcohol until today. I was rung up by Vanessa A. and had to prove through my social media and cards that my name matches the ID. She also made me smile and held the card up to me for about 5 minutes until she finally "believed" me even tho it didn't seem like she did. She then told me I need to get my photo changed. I don't see why it was so difficult when I had more than enough proof that it was me on my ID. Everyone has only ever been super sweet and helpful so I don't see why I had such an issue with this one person who I've also never seen before. Got yelled at from an employee "Karen A" for leaving my dog in my car with the engine on and the AC on at full blast on a 70 degree day. I was gone 5 minutes to pick up a couple groceries and left my dog unattended but with the temperature controls on, engine on, and doors locked. These were all obvious by the engine noise of the vehicle, the dashboard showing the AC on, and the headlights of the car ON, but was still yelled at by Karen A because someone, "Karen B" reported my car to the cops. This is a nice Ralph's in kind of a strange shopping center aka strip mall in Mission Viejo. They have beautiful flowers and they have a nice greeter that says hello when you walk in. The grapes are little bit less expensive and so are the cherries I might buy some since I'm obsessed. read more

Drab and depressing store that is dimly lit, has relatively narrow aisles and doesn't have employees at the deli counter or at the registers as often as they should when they are busy. The employees seem largely unmotivated and everything I enter the Store it smells like a massive ashtray near the entrance (not accusing the employees but lysol the main avenues into the Store please). One area I would credit the Store in is the fact that the shelves are very well organized and usually fully stock -but that may be as a result of nor getting too much business. I want to support them and root for their success however with so many better options nearby I am only compelled to visit them as a last resort and in those few instances they have come through. Really hope the management and ownership do a deep dive into how things are going and identify areas of improvement because I want them to be a staple of our community and not an eyesore. read more

The older gentlemen that works cashier and occasionally self-check out is rude and racist. My friend and I have encountered him three times now. One time asking inappropriate questions like "where are you really from?" My parents and I were born and raised in America thank you very much. The other two times he was just rude. I ignored the situations taking in that he is an old man who might need work to support himself, but definitely needs better training. The store itself is great though. I know inflation is a thing right now and a lot of goods are more expensive overall, but I just paid almost $9 for two loaves of bread. I went there with my kids to do some shopping and we were checking out and the bagger a little older man was pestering my 22 month old baby girl and touched her back and looked very unpleased that she wasn't interacting with him and he was persistent in trying to get her attention I told him to stop touching her he got visibly upset and then we left his name is Brian now I'm am unaware if he was mentally incapable of understanding social cues or anything else but he made both of my daughters very uncomfortable my toddler was so visibly distraught by this man I will not be coming back to this location I am all for equal opportunity but not when it comes to making my kids uncomfortable be aware and keep an eye out for this man around your kids in the check out line read more

This Ralph's should be avoided. Do not order online. I didn't even get my vegetables put in plastic bag so they were limp by the time I got them. Plus almost half of my items were out of stock but upon going there, they were all in stock. Plus it's dirty. 7:30am on this Thursday morning 02/28 Having a productive morning decided to do my grocery shopping done early. I had almost 40 items in my cart if not more. I was not going to use self checkout with all those items. Person at checkout was eating I believe it was a whole rotisserie chicken I'm not sure if she was on her break or just having a meal while in the clock. I asked if someone could help me out at the regular checkout lane. I was ignored. I made eye contact with a lady that was on her phone and she decided to help me at the lane. She was really on a bad mood I'm not sure why. As she was scanning my items she was tossing them. I figured she was having a bad morning but why is that the customers fault. To top it off she threw my receipt on the floor she meant to place it on the counter but since she was tossing everything she over did it. Didn't apologize for that. All I heard was have a good day. I didn't catch her name because she didn't have a name tag. Not to be mean but she has a problem with her face maybe paralysis of some type. I have to stop and let others in our area know that the Ralph's on La Paz in Mission Viejo has an employee Named Yuli F. that saved my granddaughters Graduation (dessert) Party. My only task was to bring Gluten Free Cupcakes to the party. After spending a ton of time on the phone, I remembered (when I used to live in MV) that the Ralph's on La Paz in MV. used to have Gluten free cupcakes! Sure enough, this sweet, thoughtful employee named, Yuli heard my urgency and went and found several packages of Gluten Free choc cupcakes. She offered to hold them for me while i drove up from San Clemente and had everything ready when I rushed in, already late for party. I can't even put into words my appreciation for this professional, kind lady that put smiles on faces as Grandma cruised-in right before dessert was going on the tables. Whew! I was at this store about 20 minutes ago and I had the worst experience I can't believe people who have no customer service skills are put into a job checking out your groceries.. (Dana M is the checker who helped me). I handed the checker 5 20.00 dollar bills and she looked at it and counted it out in her cash drawer where I could not see her. I asked wait what did I give you? She said 4 20's 80.00. She was trying to get me out of the store quickly I felt something wasn't right. She was fast and had these black false eyelashes that were big you could not see her eyes. I walked outside and I only had one 20-dollar bill. When I entered the store I had 90.00 plus 40.00 my friend just gave me for cleaning her kitchen. I should have another 20.00. So I went back in and quietly said to a worker I think that lady made a mistake she needs to give me another 20.00 I gave her 100.00 not 80.00. She returned and said to go over to her she wanted to talk to me. She had a line of people she turned around and started yelling at me across the room and arguing with me that she only had 4 20s. I was so embarrassed I told her she doesn't have to come at me like that...she was totally making me feel stupid and she didn't care about me at all so I called her a bitch and I walked out. I sat in my car and called the manager of the store started to explain and she was going to stick up for her worker they didn't even count the cash drawer to see if it was over or take my name and number in case later they had an extra 20.00 because they did not care if the lying cashier is stealing money because I know how much money I had when I walked in I know I gave that lady to much money and it was just all bad. Been coming to this location for years but after today not anymore. Had a very unpleasant experience with not only the cashier but the guard they recently hired. Was trying to use my credit card to purchase groceries but had accidently only brought my expired credit card to use. When it declined 3 times the cashier violently took my groceries away along with my reusable bag that I had brought with me. I then walked away but proceeded to call the credit card company to find out what was wrong with my card. I did not know it was expired at this point. While calling I was suddenly made aware that the guard in the store began following me. He did not stop following me even though I was clearly on the phone with the credit card company. He even followed me outside. As stated I have been coming to this location for over 20+ years. The workers at this location recognize me but I was treated like a criminal. I've been going to this store for years. The self checkout is awful. If you have a steak or two they hover. This happens every time I go through the self checkout. I had gone through the regular checkout to avoid the hovering before but I had only 8 items and the line was long. I called and spoke to Trevor but he had a rebuttal for everything I was saying. I said no offense to you or Ralph's but this makes me want to go to another store like vons because they don't make the customers feel Ill at ease. He said if I want to go to vons do that. Nice reaction to a customer. It's sad that a store you've been going to for years has declined to the conditions it is now. Ralph's should take out the self-checkout if they have a lot of theft. This Ralph's location sucks for multiple reasons. Me and my Grandma, were hungry and wanted something in a hurry so we got their Fried Chicken, Beef Mac, and Scalloped Potatoes, and they were horrid. The Guy taking our Mom Eder looked like he did it want to be there and he seemed like he hated life. The Fried Chicken tasted like it's been sitting out on the heat lamp and it had no taste and flavor to it, it was horrible. The Beef Mac tasted fake and it tasted really watery and it smelled so bad I couldn't even take a second bite it was that bad. The Scalloped Potatoes were really bland and tasted like they forgot how to make real Potatoes and they tasted like they came from a Powdered Mixed base, and didn't taste like Cheese and they just added Gas Station Cheese, to their Scallops the whole meal was so bad we never got their Fried Chicken again. Been sporadically noticing (over the past few months!) that she exhibits a habitual pattern of blatant disregard of unprofessionalism and poor customer service. This is the nearest store to my house. I have been shopping here since 1994. It used to be a decent store. I only go here now because of how close it is. When I have the time, I shop anywhere else. This morning was a typical shopping experience here. Supplies are low, a lot of produce is unavailable, aisles are so filled you have to move things to just get down the aisle. Ok, fine. This is normal for this Ralphs. My cart is over half way filled. I don't want to self check. No registers are open although there are plenty of employees. I ask the person at the manager desk up front if a register is open. she said "no". Now I have to go through self check out with a lot of produce. The employee in charge of self check is hovering, watching me as I scan every item. Asking me if I am sure I am not using their bags. Several produce items don't have scan codes so I have to look them up. I find green onions and press the button. This employee asks from where he is watching me: "Was that 79 or 99 (or some such numbers like that). I said I had no idea what he is talking about. He repeated again, "Were those green onions the 79 cent bunch or the 99cent bunch?" Apparently, I have purposely tried to cheat Ralphs out of money. I answered, "I have no idea what they are or what they cost. I don't work here." and I keep scanning. Now he is watching me closer as I scan more items. As I weigh the potatoes, he hollers out another number. "What?" I ask. He says if you want to expedite your checkout, I am giving you the scan code number for those potatoes." Honestly, by now I am just in a bad mood. This hovering over customers at self checkout waiting for the customer to make mistakes or cheat is annoying. You know what would have expedited checkout? Actually not forcing customers to be cashiers and having at least one non-self checkout lane open. I don't want to be a cashier. Stop forcing me to do your job and not paying me for doing it and then hover over me to make sure I am doing your job correctly. Ralphs: hire enough people so your customers who don't want to use self checkout don't have to be a cashier. I am a teacher, not a cashier. I don't ask you to come to school to teach my class so stop forcing me to do your job. Btw: after doing your job and bagging my own groceries, the employee came over to "help me" when I asked about a discount on a food item- I wanted to make sure I got the buy one get one free for the chicken. He "helped me" by going back in on the pad to add the 10 cent charge for the Ralphs bag I had to use because the chicken was dripping and I didn't want it to drip all over the bagging area and contaminate it for next customer. So, I was an unpaid cashier and bagger while an employee watched me and then was charged 10 cents for the bag. Next time I guess I will just let the bloody chicken juices spill all over the bagging area. read more

The service at the meat counter is awful. The employees spend most of their time in the back and don't bother looking to see if they have customers. When you are luckily enough to get service, the staff is extremely unfriendly. They make you feel like you are interrupting their day. Pandemic Review - An employee asked me to take my mask OFF to confirm my identity to buy alcohol. Edited to add - I was wearing a standard KN95... nothing obscure that was blocking a significant amount of my face. I've been shopping at this Ralph's for years. I have shopped here weekly during the pandemic. I've never been asked to take my mask off when verifying my identity to buy alcohol. 99% of the employees, including the manager, are respectful. Terrible experience with my family, 11/08/20- evening. As we checked out, a younger male Caucasian cashier processed our small purchase. I am usually pretty good about helping with bagging when needed. However, he just stood there as I paid with a credit card and only placed his hands on our groceries to SHOVE/MASH them together towards the empty bag we brought. This happened when another customer stepped up and he began ringing him up while I bagged my purchase as quickly as I could. He seemed annoyed and it was an embarrassingly rude experience. This store sells expired baby food. Today I insisted on removing expired bottles of Similac milk from the trading room, their shelf life expired in November.
