This is a nice little neighborhood grocery store. There isn't a lot of parking but be patient. People get in and out pretty quick. It's very small inside but it's organized well. I haven't shopped here extensively... but during a recent surf-holiday in Laguna I came here several days in a row, namely b/c I"m a berry-fanatic, for some lazy-dude shopping. I Love cali berries, which are available in mixed fruit cartons here for ~1/2 the typical Henry's(a second fave of mine) or Whole foods prices. The blackberries(I swear they're seedless for a split-second during each first bite). ooooh, the berries!!! The deli here is also rather impressive, considering the store's small size(cheap chicken caesar wraps and greek salads!). (Shockingly) great prices and selection, complete w/ most of the yupster items I crave. Ralph's makes me want to relocate to Cali. Don't knock Ralph's. It's the best... it's like that first wife who's not a gold-digger, thus shouldn't be taken for granted. I've tried the other stores in OC, but I always come back :-) In my experience, the staff here is helpful and upbeat. read more

This store is small. We used to call it the "beer and chips" store, due to it's size and proximity to beach & hotels. Not a lot of choices, but adequate for a milk run. Then we lost Albertson's, our big store, and suddenly Ralph's had to amp up its' game. I have to give them credit--they did a pretty good job. In fact they may be a little TOO focused on efficiency, to the detriment of customer service. Example: Stop hovering over me like a hawk, rushing me, as I check myself out---you're making me do this myself, so LET me do it! Due to the tight aisles and the limited parking, complete with drivers who insist on parking in the very front (why are you backing up street traffic to avoid walking an extra 50 feet? Not cool.), the shopping experience is unpleasant. Rushed and crowded. Not how I want to end my day. I expect that, with the recent opening of Gelson's (formerly Hate 'em, formerly Albertson's) in town, the people who value ambiance over price will leave Ralph's, making pit stops here more tolerable again. And hopefully, those who leave will be the same people who MUST get a front parking spot. read more

If i could give 0 stars i would!!! I was here today with my sister and we noticed two of the staff members staring at us, laughing and whispering to each other. We tried to brush it off, but they stayed at a close distance behind us our entire visit. It was pretty obvious that we were the subject of their conversation. My sister left in tears. Some of the comments they were making were unnecessary and hurtful. They were very loud about it quite frankly. We will never make the mistake of returning to this location ever again! read more

I'm a local and this Ralphs is super convenient. Everyone is always friendly and they have great hours. I love their self check out. Most of all, at their Deli counter, the edamame salad and their chicken salad is to die for. Always so fresh and yummy! Reason for the 4 stars...Produce section is no good. Buy elsewhere. read more

I went to get some essentials for my trip that I forgot to pack. I was able to get 4 out of the 5 things I had gone for. (They have a very limited make up section) However, the items I got were priced well. When I got to the register the cashier was very friendly. He even have us the store discount even though we did not have a savings card. In all, the store was clean and easy to navigate, and the workers were friendly and helpful. read more

Yes the selection might be wanting, and, the organic section is small, but if you live locally this little market is great. I have had great experiences with the customer service, I don't need much except to check out, and they're always super nice. I rarely have problems in the paring lot, I just go to the right and walk an extra fifty feet and there is always a spot. It is in downtown Laguna, what do you expect, an experience similar to going to a gorcery store in Aliso Viejo? I am happy they are there, and if you go in mid week, I seem to find good deals. I can often find avocados for, like, $0.49. Probably not in the summer, but often in the mid week winter. All in all they usually have what I am running in for. I don't do my big shopping here, I also go tot Trader Joe's, Gelson's, Whole Paycheck, and Albertson's. I guess I kinda mix it up when I shop depending what I need, but this little Ralphs I frequent and I've always got what I wanted, quickly, and easily! read more

Ralph's is a great resource during Comic Con. If your hotel has a refrigerator and micro, you can purchase from a great selection of prepared hot and cold food choices. However, you should do this in the morning before each Con day. By evening the choices are a wipe out. read more

Does anyone else think of the opening scene of The Big Lebowski when they see a Ralph's? This location was much nicer than the one in the movie. We were in town for a few days and just needed some snacks, and this place fit the bill perfectly. Good selection of impulse food items and decent produce. Looked a little small and cramped for a neighborhood supermarket, but we weren't stocking up so it didn't matter. Definitely the easiest market to get to and shop from the central touristy area of town. read more

Need to do late shopping, Ralph's is the place to go. When others are in hurry to close their doors, Ralph's in open until 1 a.m. They have some good specials. They also have specials on little bit older produce and you can get some even 75% off. Store is ok when you need just your basic stuff. Did not find any specialty foods like gluten free. Friendly people and easy to find, right next to PCH. Clean store and shiny floors. Friendly cashiers, space to do your shoppings. read more

I'm a loyal customer to Ralph's and have been for over 20 years. The staff of every Ralph's I have ever been to has always been so kind and if I ever have multiple errands to do within the area I would leave my car there and shop last because it's a bunch of groceries. It's never been a problem before. Today, I wanted to have a quick lunch and shop at Ralph's shortly after. I parked my car at Ralph's parking lot. Yes, I saw the signs saying that if you're not a customer then your car will get towed. And I understand this policy because you can lose profit with people who park there and not shop. After an hour of lunch (took about 10-15 minutes to walk from the destination) we went back to Ralph's to get our snacks and went back to...well my car disappeared. Lucky for us, the food we got wasn't heavy. So we walked all the way to the place my car got towed and the woman was so unhelpful in explaining herself. "You're no longer considered a customer the second you're foot is out of the store." I've never had this problem with any other Ralph's before. The manager and associates there always tell me why waste gas and drive to all these places if everything is all in one plaza? My ticket said they noticed the car at 12:34 and my car got towed at 1:06. $255 and a 2 mile walk with food and my board back later, I got my car back. Oh, and when I went in to shop and asked for a certain item, the associate gave me attitude. Horrible place! read more

She made me wait and then ended up charging me again for the item returned instead of a credit on the bill. She got very bitter when I asked for it to be corrected. Hands down the best Ralphs I have ever been to! Very intimate location with a super friendly staff. They have an amazing deli with all of the meats that I love freshly sliced. They are very conveniently located in laguna beach and are within walking distance of the beach and downtown area. The only downside is the small parking lot but it's really not even that bad. Incredibly rude cashier very early in the morning. Acted like she was doing me a favor to check me out. My crime was asking when the La Brea bread would be arriving and she snorted and said we stopped that years ago! It's all baked here. Fine I said, when is that coming out then. She sighed and said she didn't know. Would she like me to ASK the bakery? Wow. Super rude. You know what? I'm never coming back here. Ryan Steininger in the meat department went above and beyond to help me this past weekend. I started with a few questions about fresh or frozen hamburger patties. When I expressed that I really wanted fresh but was concerned how long it would take me to prepare 25 patties, Ryan offered to make them for me. They were the best hamburgers I have ever made at home and all my guests loved them. Thank you Ryan for going WAY above and beyond! I will make Ralphs my go to grocery store from now on. read more

As a local resident who relies upon the area markets for the usual groceries of a household, I strongly applaud this Ralph's for enforcing their parking policy, as referenced in an earlier review. There are very few establishments in this area fortunate enough to have a parking lot for their customers. Laguna Beach is a small and crowded beach resort-town, and If you're too cheap to put a couple quarters in the meter at the pay-parking lots or at the street-meters and instead decide to swipe one of the 'very' few free parking spots at the local supermarket while you go dining and sight-seeing, then you deserve to have your car towed. It's only fair. Anyways, my favorite thing about this Ralph's is that it's open 24 hours a day. As a 34 year old retired software developer, I travel the world constantly, and am always under the effects of jet-lag. So when my day begins at 2am and I find an empty soymilk jug in the fridge, I can pop-down to Ralph's and get some more. Their bakery also has great fresh-baked croissants around 5.30am every morning. And, best of all, even on a crowded summer weekend, when all the tourists are milling about, rest assured that you'll be able to buy your groceries, because you 'will' be able to find a parking spot at this Ralph's!! read more

This is my local grocery store so I've always made an effort to do my shopping here. It's getting harder & harder to find the things I want. Used to be you could tell your check out person what you wanted & they'd pass along the info & the store would stock it. Simple things, like a can of pinto beans that are not the Ralphs brand, are now impossible to get. If I have to go to Pavillions or Albertsons for beans I may as well do the rest of my grocery shopping while I'm there. Last week the steaks I purchased were spoiled. I like the check out folks a lot, especially Lori & Tammi. The manager Marty's S. has pretty much always been a jerk. He alternates between ignoring his customers, to being pushy & impatient. I can usually avoid his line when he's on the register though so it's OK. Unfortunately, this is now the store where I run in to grab a few things I've forgotten during my full grocery shop elsewhere. read more
