We are so blessed to have this wonderful little grocery store right here in Laguna Beach! My husband and I shop here at least three times a week and absolutely love the staff -- they truly feel like family to us. Mark, the night manager, always goes above and beyond to make sure the store runs smoothly and customers are happy. He's friendly, attentive, and genuinely cares about the community. It's a very busy location, just one block from the beach, and while the parking lot can get a little tricky (tourists sometimes come in through the exit!), it's worth it. For its size, this small store is impressively stocked with a great selection of fresh foods. The store is always clean, the produce is beautiful, and every member of the staff is so helpful and kind. We're so grateful to have this gem in our neighborhood! read more

Excellent market beautiful location in Laguna Beach right on the Pacific coast walking distance to all the hotels if you're staying in town

Coming from New York, I had never heard of a grocery store called Ralph's until I moved to California. Now that I live in Laguna, it's become my number 1 go-to for my main grocery shopping. The staff are THE BEST YOU WILL FIND and they make the experience great. They really do. They often recognize locals and warmly welcome you with a friendly smile and greeting. When you shop there often enough, the cashiers and staff seem more like friends than employees. They are knowledgeable, kind, helpful and super friendly. Their location is super convenient, being just off of PCH. The prices are AMAZING and the selection is incredible. Although it's not the biggest Ralph's store, they sure do well at stocking exactly what you want and need. Some of the sales, discounts and deals they have are jaw-dropping. And my husband is obsessed with their deli's fried chicken. From the cashiers to the baggers to the managers - every member of their staff is absolutely phenomenal. Here is an example of how amazing the staff is - In the past I had a problem with a homeless man a couple blocks away from Ralph's who was threatening me and trying to follow me home - but thankfully I stopped in to Ralph's and told the male Cashier what was going on and he was such a hero! He immediately informed the Manager and together they kept me safe while they monitored the parking lot until he was a far distance away. I have never had strangers take such good care of me and prioritize my safety above all else. To the two employees at Ralphs who didn't think I was listening- as I walked around your store with three young children, I heard your conversation. You thought I didn't. You thought you'd be able to hide the context of your comment by saying "that in front of me should be illegal" and I wouldn't know you meant me. You meant me and my beautiful children shouldn't be allowed to grow and learn and create in this world together. As we enjoyed an early morning shop for their favorite breakfast foods, on a trip for my birthday gift that the husband and father of our household worked and saved to buy for us, we smiled and delighted that we were near the ocean, and you looked at us with such disdain and disgust. You know nothing of our lives and our journey. You're absolutely entitled to your opinion, but as a patron of your store it was a sad thing to hear. I have been coming to this Ralph's since I was a kid because I live up the street and never have I felt so disrespect by their staff. I came in 03/29/23 around 6:30pm. Usual Friday evening rush but nothing crazy. I was in cashier Nico's line and there was a customer in front of me. Once Nico had finished scanning the last of that customers items, I went to grab the lane divider to place it behind my items and to my disbelief, he gave me eye contact and yanked it from my hand, legit yanked it from my hand like I was stealing his damn wallet or something. I was purchasing alcohol and he raised his voiced demanding to see my drivers license. When I extended my hand to give him my drivers license, he yanked it out of my hand and dramatized the entire situation by placing it towards the ceiling in attempts to ensure it was real? Are you not able to read a DOB or scan it? You really have to dramatize the situation? After he "analyzed" it for what seemed like a minute, he threw it on the counter. The drivers license literally bounced and almost slid off the counter. Why did you have to be so rude. I literally had 3 items and there was one more customer behind me. The lady bagging items was extremely sweet and was a witness to his behavior. I will be placing a formal complaint as this is ridiculous. The store in Laguna is small. The isles are narrow. They have no motorized shopping carts for people who cannot walk or stand . The product selection, if you don't want to buy Kroger brands, is spotty at best. Most of the time the manager says we are out of that item, or we don't carry that product or brand anymore. On a positive note the checkers are pleasant and efficient. And so are the entire staff. I understand that lot of people love that store. It is a very old store. However because of its lack of not having motorized carts for us who are disabled, I think the store should be remodeled or relocated. read more

I am a regular at this store since I live in town. I stopped by this morning and bought two items. At the checkout my coupons were not redeemed and the cashier named Christina, said that I had used the coupons previously. I explained that I did not and she commented that it doesn't matter. Well, it did matter, I told her that I had not used the coupons. She helped reluctantly. As a person who works daily up the street at the hospital. I love having this tiny but mighty grocery store just down the street. Very small but everything you need from a grocery store. The flower section isn't a floral station like the regular size stores. fYI! Ample parking. Which comes in handy. Because DT Laguna parking is absolute s--t. The staff here is great! Always friendly and greeting costumers. Since I have to go in uniform I love that I am always asked "going in or going home?" The staff is good at empathizing with the daily grind (heart emoji). But they have the normal aisle items, freezer items, fresh produce and anything else you may need to fill your cabinets, take for lunch that day, or something to grab to take for a picnic at the beach. I went in with my husband wanting a sandwich cause we came into town to visit our artist friends. And the sandwich was bad so I went back in and was like can I get another one this is spoiled it made me vomit it was like all bad and the manager talked down to me cause he was like I sell a lot of those and we never got a complaint before. This store #4 in laguna beach, is a beach store, not the best products but they try, the problem is management, because the store is not managed, when you check out, no one would ever help you and you can count on the check out to be a nightmare, as you try to empty your cart, help bag, get out your card, then get out your payment card, you never have time to see what you are being charged. tried the app, spent a long time on the app but when you get up to check out, no one knows how to do it and it doesn't come up, you also get overcharged. no I am not the only one, people feel cheated as there are posts on nextdoor on this store...the app is a hassle and you cannot get any help, been going there off and on for 50 yrs . there is literally no savings and you are normally overcharged..They don't care! We went and bought our stuff and went to leave when the manager (sharice according to the receipt) pokes her head out of her car to tell us that if we leave she will tow her car cuz she's the manager and parking is for when your in the store.ended up returning part of our stuff since she was on a power trip and the cashier shorted us on our return. I shop here only because it's convenient. I don't understand why there is one cashier lane and other employees standing around directing you to self check out when the store can easily open another line. I always like shopping at Ralph's and this location is great. They have plenty of easy parking which is hard to find on PCH so close to the beach. The store is older and smaller than most, but they still have a great selection. Prices are great, especially for the area and if you shop seasonally or check their sales. Stopped by here to grab a drink after lunch. It has a tiny parking lot and people are honking at each other constantly. This is the only grocery store where I've seen that they sell body boards. As parking spots are rare in the area, some people try to snag a spot as it is only a few blocks away from the beach. Great service and quick check out lanes. Ralph's in Laguna Beach has super crowded aisles due to all the boxes they are constantly unloading during the day. Jay at the deli counter is always friendly and helpful and so is Martin. However, the manager and assistant manager do not know how to run a store. At lunch time every day they only have one checkout line available. The rest are self check out with two or three checkers just standing around. This causes a long wait in line. I have tried to talk to the manager about this but they don't want to change. i take my business to Pavillions. Much better service and a much nicer store. read more

Located right on PCH this is the tiniest Ralph's Market I've ever shopped in. Out for a drive along the coast on a gorgeous summer afternoon, we searched for a place to grab a snack and use the restroom. Spotted this petite grocery store nestled between high-end art galleries and swank cafes. Confident we could grab a quick sandwich I parked and dashed inside. A clerk, positioned at the door, directed me to the restroom, located in a storeroom. The helpful deli clerk showed me their selection of freshly-made sandwiches. A brief walk through the store assured me, while housed in a smaller building, this store was loaded with a brilliant variety of fresh fruits, veggies, staples and sundries. Some shopping carts were full, others carried baskets on their arm. Aisles were small, but shoppers were cordial to one another. Outside the store was festooned with plants, flowers and garden minutia. Pretty. The postage-stamp parking lot accommodated the flow of vehicle traffic, but there seemed to be more foot traffic from houses on the hill behind the market. I can't imagine doing my weekly shopping in such a tiny store, but maybe just over the hill, inland, larger stores and markets feed the residents of Laguna Beach. We'll have to explore more next time we're in the area. read more

The staff is generally great. The deli is fabulous. It's a small market but a great local stop to grab essential typically well stocked. I've lived in this area on/off most of my life and operated local businesses. Today- to my surprise, it's COVID 19 and you must wear a mask. As I was approaching check out, MARK the manager on duty loudly stops me telling me I can't be in the store!! I was stunned! I spoke direct & loud saying "Why, what in the hell are you talking about?!" Mark continues to aaccuse me of a prior customer a day/days prior of stealing cosmetics! My daughter was on the line and had to hear this nonsense plus the bakery, deli and produce deoaryment!! Mortified, I removed my mask! I said "ME?! I wasn't even here days prior!" He then did not apologize but said "it's ok! If it's not you don't worry about it!" So rude, embarrassing and unprofessional. Absolutely a D--bag and I don't normally speak like this. Then a patron speaks up saying, "careful, you were wrong and made us ALL uncomfortable. You can be liable for slander and sued by such negligence. I did buy my champagne and leave but I'm so upset, furious that an idiot could shame me out of mistakeen identity. My 8yr old was very fearful saying "mommy what's going on!" Mark- your a loser. Yesterday, June 19th, I noticed two gentlemen standing in the checkout lane with me at the Ralphs on PCH in Laguna Beach. Neither were wearing masks. I politely asked them if they would put on masks. One immediately did so. The other seemed not to hear. When I asked the checker why this was happening, he called the store manager. The store manager told me that Kroger/Ralphs policy is NOT to enforce the mask requirement for the safety of their employees. When I asked about the security guard standing in the parking lot, she said he also is their employee and will not require customers to don masks. This is despite the fact that it is, to my understanding, the law throughout California to wear masks in public, including while shopping: https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2020-06-19/everything-you-need-to-know-about-californias-mada The Laguna Beach Ralphs store in particular is extremely cramped. I have heard from an employee that its location and small size make it one of the most profitable stores per-square-foot in California. In the pandemic it is also potentially the most dangerous, particularly when Laguna is the 3rd highest city in the County in covid cases per 10,000 population. The last time I was at both Gelsons, there was a person at the door, sanitizing carts and metering social distancing and masks. There is nothing stopping Ralphs from doing the same. Politely asking shoppers to don a mask is not confrontational and should never be a problem. The manager told me she would convey my concern but that this is Kroger policy. Kroger is not just the largest supermarket chain in California; it is the largest supermarket chain in America. It can afford to do better by the health of its customers and by the law. This is a great very small market frequented mostly by locals. The people who work there are helpful and friendly and go the extra mile to help. I have always been amazed at how much is packed into that little market and how I always am glad that I stopped there.
